Roland,

According to my calculations, the timestamp on objects is the number
of seconds since January 1st, 1970, expressed in GMT, and the browsers
convert it to local time. Are these observations correct?

Why not all see the same timestamp, e.g. in VRT? Just a suggestion for
2.2 ... LOL

Yes, that is correct. This is also known as "Unix time".

As for VRT, not everyone likes to see times in VRT all the time. I, for
one, prefer to see times in my local time, because that's where I live, and
then I don't have to convert back and forth from VRT to know when something
*really* occurred. It depends on what I'm trying to do. I appreciate the
purpose of VRT, I'm just saying it's not always the most useful format for
displaying times in all circumstances.

An option in the browser to toggle between showing times in VRT and local
time is on my list somewhere...

Hehehe... According to my calculations Unix Time will be the most efficient
method for storing time for only about another 20 or so Years, where by it'd
be shorter in some cases to log it as 1,1,00,13:44 ... ETC...
