New features for 3.3 // WishlistbudweiserJun 5, 2001, 1:18am
What are some features we would like to see for 3.3, if one ever comes out?

Lets seeeee. For 3.3 I'd like to see... Uhh, hell, lets deal with 3.2 first.
Hardware T&L Improved move, rotate. etc/ commands (allow sequences of these to be built onto one object, ie one object that moves here, changes to this color, rotates this far, moves there, rotates thataway, changes texture and then goes back to the start point) HIGHER CELL LIMITS!! Better dsound implementation OPEN FUCKING GL. [View Quote] sw comitJun 6, 2001, 4:04am
I like a lot of Eeps ideas about avatar realism. Sound effects to sync with
an avatar's movement be nice. The gravity and velocity physic engine needs some major tweaking too. You can't go from 0 to (about) 42 mph instantly. I'd love to see shadowing and reflection, but it'd probably kill performance; however they could just make it an option in the settings. Lastly they should introduce a photography mode, which would render items at extreme distances and not allow you to move (moving with so many objects on screen would cause some extreme lag I would image), so you could take nice screenshots. Away from the 3d element I'd like to see a revamped telegram system (also, someone mention an active telegram idea, sounds kinda nice). 3.3 though? What I said sounds more like 6.0 =P -- SW Comit swcomit at swcity.net Mayor of SW City http://www.swcity.net President of Community Linkage Commission http://comlinkage.tripod.com [View Quote] captain mad mikeJun 29, 2001, 7:23pm
More for 3.2:
Multi-recepient telegrams and whispers, user movable objects (like you can pick them up and move it), different render modes (like low for congested areas on slow connections, and high for broadbanders like me), and heres a neat one, remote property, where you click a checkbox which marks those objects as remote, so your computer hosts them and thus we can have super-tall fully furnished buildings, etc. kinda like dedicated servers from half life. And when your comp isn't running then there can be an invisible land cover there that the AW server has so that nobody can build there. And it would be cool if users could put in user-usable objects (say, a crossbow) where you could pick it up and shoot something with it. Thats sorda violent but hey, its cool. And whatever it does gets reset so that you can't vandalize someones house with arrows or something. LOL lets just import counterstrike into AW and have lots of cedrics and hoteps running around with machine guns cutting everything into swiss cheese! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! -- CMM "Crazy to the gluon!" [View Quote] This probably won't make it into 3.2/3.3 because of the very high risk of -SPAM-. Unless you can find a way to make multi-recipient teles that don't have a very high risk of spam, I doubt it'll happen. captain mad mikeJun 29, 2001, 11:15pm
well, if they keep the limit on the contact list the way it is that reduces
it some, and then if they only allow say, 5 users per tgram that really eliminates the spam. [View Quote] tony mJun 30, 2001, 4:37am
or maybe make the mass-tele send only to all of your contacts at once.
that would make things such as name-change announcements easier [View Quote] |
