backdrops // Wishlistfelix2001Jan 28, 2001, 2:57am
I just hope so... I'm not a world builder so I don't know if that isn't even
already available or not. Just replying so you'd know people come here often ;o) sw comitJan 28, 2001, 5:53am
Yes it is possible. I've seen animated backdrops in alphaworld many times.
I don't know how to do it though, sorry. I have made animated JPGs before but backdrops are a different story, since they're are so long and thin. To make an animated JPG, you just make the first frame a perfect square (say 100x100), then make the 2nd frame below it. Then your picture is 100x200. The 3rd frame would make your picture 100x300, etc. j b e l lJan 28, 2001, 6:07am
what your seeing is not an animated background, it's a large dome object
surrounding the world with a animated texture.. -- J B E L L http://platinum.awjbell.com G O I N G P L A T I N U M [View Quote] eepJan 28, 2001, 1:36pm
Right, it's actually the ground object but it doesn't look realistic since it infinitely repeats every 60m². Until the ground object can be "attached" to avatars so it moves SMOOTHLY with them, doing animated backgrounds and even sun/moon objects won't look real.
It's stuff like this that Roland et al need to be working on instead of making AW work on NT. [View Quote] > what your seeing is not an animated background, it's a large dome object > surrounding the world with a animated texture.. > [View Quote] andrasJan 28, 2001, 9:40pm

hmmm - so it repeats itself in every 1mx60m rectangle or only in every 3mx20m rectangle or is it only a 10mx6m rectangle?

And you should work on your manner instead of posting unfounded rumors. <snip> eepJan 29, 2001, 7:36am

You KNOW what I mean, twitfuck. 60m² = 60m horizontal x 60m depth.
> > And you should work on your manner instead of posting unfounded rumors. Well, I heard it from Myrth or Agent 1, so I doubt it's a rumor. But I haven't bothered to go to TechTalks lately or keep up with AW development since I'm not on the beta. <shrug> I'll have more mannerS (yes, there is more than one) when Roland gets his fucking act together and learns how to code adequately enough and develop AW more logically. roluJan 29, 2001, 9:29am

but he is right about the 60m^2 - 60m^2 is 60 times one m^2. 60 horizontal x
60 depth is 60^2 m^2. Or (60m)^2. Rolu agent1Jan 29, 2001, 11:47am
The "making AW work on NT" is really just adding support for OpenGL. Not sure what else will be in 3.2, though.

Still, it's HIGH time Roland STOP adding new features and fix/improve existing features. It's just fucking ridiculous.

This is interesting:
Eep is correcting Andras' grammar while Andras is correcting eep's math (by the way please learn this simple mathematical concept). This is a good thing, two people exchanging their different knowledge. Andras says thanks, eep says..well read above. If you feel you have the right to correct everyone else, why can't you deal with other people correcting you? > > > Well, I heard it from Myrth or Agent 1, so I doubt it's a rumor. yup... just like the ground objects with skies... :o) i dont think that would
look that realistic though.... [View Quote] > what your seeing is not an animated background, it's a large dome object > surrounding the world with a animated texture.. > > -- > J B E L L > http://platinum.awjbell.com > G O I N G P L A T I N U M [View Quote] the derekJan 31, 2001, 2:27am
