One of the things I've not seen mentioned here (although I haven't read
all 4000+ messages yet) that I'd like to see if the ability to restrict
citizens from my world with something other than eject. I was thinking
something along the lines of putting a - (minus) in front of the citizen's
number in the Enter field of the world rights would forbit there entrance,
but still allow everyone else in.
Obviously this does nothing for keeping out certain tourists (although
you could keep put all tourists with -0, but that wouldn't really be a nice
thing to do.), or citizens that enter your world as a tourist, but it could
help a bit with troublemakers.

you could use a bot until it gets implemented

Yep... It's been mentioned. :) Just thought you might like to know the
answer to that.

Here's an excerp from a message by Scotty Miller, back in October of 1998,
giving another way of handling the same basic concept...

{Begin excerp}

Ok, here is an idea:

You now have an INclusion list were you have to place citizen numbers for
those
you want IN the world. How about an EXclusion list for citizen numbers of
those
you want to keep OUT of the world. Of course you would only be able to use
one
list at time.

Examples:
Inclusion list Exclusion list
1234 (Princess Tia) 0 (tourist)
2345 (ScottyDM) 9876 (rude to PT)
3456 (another PT friend) 8765 (cheated PT out of $)
4567 (PT friend #3) 7654 (telegram bombs PT)
5678 (etc, etc) 6543 (etc, etc)

This way you could MOSTLY open up your world. Perhaps the "immigration
officer"
could send a special message to someone on the exclusion list as "IO" shows
them
the way out.

ScottyDM

{End excerp}

....to which someone going by "CDM" commented that he had been requesting
that for two years.

I know it's also been mentioned that a negative numbers in fields could mean
exclusion of those numbers, although I am not sure when that was mentioned,
or by whom, or how many times.

Definitely one of the older requests without question. One thing that came
to mind as I read the exerpt of Scotty's message: It would be very nice to
be able to customize that "special message" the immigration officer sent to
those on the exclusion list the same way that world greetings can be
customized. That way world owners can give instructions on how to gain
access to the world if they would like. This way worlds that need/want to
restrict access can still be available to any that wish to follow the
instructions given by the world owner via the IO.

That should read:

It would be very nice to be able to customize that "special message" the
immigration officer sent to those *NOT* on the *INCLUSION* list the same
way that world greetings can be customized.

I like that idea... being able to leave instructions or a special message
for those not allowed into a world. This could have many uses.

Or not just for people not allowed, you could leave special messages for
PS's with instructions, etc.

Here's one way to do it, albeit a little overkill. The special messages you
guys are talking about are related to whether the user has a right or
doesn't have a right. In the Rights window, have two [optional] text fields
below each list for the rights. One is a message that is displayed to users
that have that right, and the other can be displayed to those who don't have
the right. You would probably not use all of the fields, however it would
give you control over all messages for each possible combination of rights a
user could have.

I hope that makes sense...

[View Quote] If a multiline message was possible, you could create some ASCII art and
use it to flash the "I'm number one" signal.

Common in the USA, some may not know what I refer to, so try this: Hold
your fist up in front of you, knuckles up & elbow down, palm toward your
face. Now uncurl your middle finger it points straight up. See, "I'm
number one". BTW, make certain that there is no one standing in front of
you who knows what this means or you could get punched in the nose.
