I wish COF would implement day and night. Or at least a possibility for
world-owners to switch it on.
And I don't necessarily want it to be a *24*-hour cyclus. Maybe that should
be left a choice for the world-owner.
Like (after Rolu's idea) 32 hours; that's much cooler.
Cuz then, if you'd visit AW every night at the same time (RL), then you'd
see a different stage everyday. (Night, noon, dawn, etc.)

We don't have to copy RL to AW. So why take 24hour-cyclus if something else
is cooler or more logical.
I mean let's face it.. What the heck is 24 supposed to be? 104 devided by 4
and then reduced by the square-root of the difference between 39 and 37...
;-)
Why not take 25 or 32 or hundred.

There are bots you can download that will do this for you- it's much more
versatile than anything built into AW could be. I know Donald Dahlman has a
sophisticated one; I'm not sure if he's distributing it yet, though. You may
also want to do a search in the SDK group on this- chances are, whoever else
wrote one would have mentioned it there.

A simple calculation shows that

104/4 = 26;
sqrt(39-37) = sqrt(2)

However, 26-sqrt(2) != 24

I know your spelling sucks, but I hoped your math would be better ;-)

The nice thing of standards is that there are so many to choose from.

Actually, I believe 24 was chosen because, like 360, it can be evenly split many
different ways. Which was important because the ancients didn't have
calculators and floating points- they had to do all the math in their heads and
on stone tablets :-) Who's the guy in here with that useless factoids book?
hehe

Yes, and when using 24 they could count on their hands, feet, eyes and ears.
25 was possible, too, by using a nose. But since they used their nose for
smelling the time on their feet, they chose 24.

That's just fake. The objects look the same at night.

It's just a effect the backdrop creates for instance I have a dark lunar
backdrop in my world but when I change it to lets say rus_day it gets a lot
brighter and feels cheerier

[View Quote] No kidding ;-)

But the textures don't change.
You only get that idea.
