Tourists (Wishlist)
Tourists // WishlistklassiOct 10, 1998, 6:12pm
I wish it was only possible for a Tourist to delete their own buildings,
e.g. they could be allocated some sort of number. I have seen weeks of work wiped out for what many tourists consider to be 'FUN'.. Last night was the worst as the tourists work that was being deleted is now a citizen..So he stood by and watched his work vanish. Obviously registered citizens could wipe out any tourists work but from what I have observed most registered citizens don't get a kick out of deleting things for 'FUN'. Is it too expensive to pay $20 to preserve those weeks of work? The benefits
of registration are clearly stated in the signs at ground zero. Its always risky to build as a tourist. Still many of them keep whining about their rights after their work gets wiped out. Process [View Quote] klassiOct 10, 1998, 8:53pm
The Tourist I was talking about had become a citizen, probably due to getting a
kick out of creating something as a tourist, so answer me one question. The so called whining tourists are the citizens of the future, doesn't it make sense to have a system to help them out a little too encourage them to fork out $20 or adopt a 'stuff 'em' attitude because after all they are second class citizens.. :-).. Making people happy is good for business and that can only be good for everyone. Klassi [View Quote] > Is it too expensive to pay $20 to preserve those weeks of work? True Klassi, but we do need to hold *some* citizen privileges back or there will
be little incentive to becoming a citizen. I've noticed that in crowed GZ areas that some tourists have a hard time holding a conversation because it is just too easy to ignore the pale gray type; I think it should be made darker, or even black, the same as citizens. The way that the tourist accounts are currently handled (builder #0), makes it technically impossible to do as you suggest. It would be necessary to completely redo tourist IDs. One possible solution is to give all the tourists normal citizen numbers (like in the old days, when there was only one class of user). Then simply have a file on the universe server that equates builder #s with name and citizen/tourist status. All the same differences in privileges would exist as they do now, including have quotes around the tourist's name. The biggest difference is that the tourist could keep what they built when they become a citizen. THAT would be a great draw to those tourists who have discovered that they love to build. Another incentive would be that in the case of two tourists who are using the same name, the first one to register gets the name and the second has to pick a new name. Of course the downside to this idea is that somebody in COF could goof up and accidentally change your status from citizen to tourist. :-( And what happens to citizens who's citizenship expires and it is a few days before they get it reinstated. Any property in a prime location would quickly be deleted and claimed by another citizen. Of course THAT would be an incentive for citizens to renew their memberships *before* expiration. I want the ability to give your buildings away. That way, if you become a citizen, you
can go as a tourist and change the cit number in all of theobjects to your citizen number [View Quote] [View Quote] scott d. millerNov 5, 1998, 10:53am

Giving property away is indeed a cool idea, and I really don't understand
why it should not be done. Just BE SURE you really want to do it because as soon as you change the citizen # the BI will not let you change the property. On second thought, I just thought of a reason why you should not be able to change builder numbers on property: To frame someone else for the crime of vandalism.
