Hi,

Is it possible to force the visibility to a given distance? I have a
P200-MMX with a stingray 128/3D, with minimum visibility set to 40m and
framerate to 30fps. Most of the time, my framerate just exceeds 30, so
visibility starts to increase. But when I start walking or looking around,
the framerate drops and the visibility decreases again. This is quite
annoying, because every time the viewing distance changes, AW stops
responding for a few tenth of a second. And, when I enter AW at GZ, or
AWGate, it takes a while before the visibility drops down to around 40-50
again. I just want to set the visibility, no matter what the framerate. Is
this possible to do, or if not, is it on The List?

This won't work. The visibility still increases. Am I doing something wrong?

Try that ini setting and then try setting Visibility to the desired range
and fps for 120 ..
since it's unlikely that your fps will get better in developed areas , your
visibility is unlikely too change .. Just fine tune the fps setting till you
get the desired results

I can't get the fps before increasing visibility any higher than 30. Not
with force_visibility=1 and not without it. I tried in options_settings, and
it won't go higher, and when I change the aworld.ini file, awbrowser resets
it to 30 when started up. Is this force_visibility working for other people?

You can not stop the visibility from fluctuating. That is how it is
designed to work. You can set a minimum visibility, but you can't control
the Max. The FPS is what you would LIKE to have but may or may not ever get.
Fewer object renderings mean greater visibility range and vice versa.

In that case I would like to see an option to disable the visibility/fps
algorithm, so that if I set my minimum visibility to 40, it stays that way,
no matter what the fps (that is what wishlist is for, isn't it?).

Anyway, thanks for the help.

The force_visibility=1 does force the visibility to stay at the minimum you
set, or it does on mine anyway. That's what it's for, to prevent the new
version of the browser from resetting the visibility to 40 on start up.
Aside from that, if the FPS rate goes up while browsing around, then the
visibility will increase. If the FPS goes down then the visibility will
decrease in an attempt to balance out the FPS and Visibility setting you
entered, but the visibility won't go below you minimum setting (which may
cause your FPS to go lower than it otherwise would).
The two are directly related and affect each other.
