hehehe, okay, you know what I really want ? I dont even think this is
really possible, but it's a damn nice little idea. Im constantly frustrated by having to use applications such as paintshop to capture images off the AW screen, it would be really nice is you were able to take a snapshot (say to a jpg) of the window, from within the actual browser, say, to take the rendered image you see and actually convert it into a 2d flat image . ... and, this is the main thrust for my idea, wouldnt it be great, if along with that "stillshot" function, you could enable a "capture to avi" the rendered scenes . thu creating a movie of the event.. you could even have a side capture of the text conversation. I've always always been looking for an external app that does this, that does an actual screen capture at a rate of at least 24 frames a second, and then is able to save it to an avi . . i dont know if one is in existance. This way,a long with the actual text captures, you could make historic recordings of events,. and, with the new Generation 2 Real technology, you could even encode that avi capture to a live stream, and broadcast the event in AW to a potentially huge user base, or add your own soundtrack to it. Hell, you could even make one of the worlds first PURE VR documentaries . ... mmmm... think about it, iI hope some of you can get the gist of what im talking about, The other main point. . . cmon Roland, we need wildlife and animals in AW, make oit a priority for a future implementation, it's not totally hard from what i know, it'll jsut take a little time, but, the rewards will be worth it. Fac. ps - if anyone DOES know of a program that can take "video" screen captures, at a framerate of at *least* a standard AW 5 frames a second, please contact me . .. . . . bart dubbleApr 30, 1998, 5:18am

Ok, I got it and installed it. When I ran the install exe it did some
unpacking, to windows/temp I'll assume, then proceeded in a normal 'setup wizard' way. It installed itself in a folder I had left over from a previous install of MSOffice. C:\program files\Microsoft office . I do have office on this machine though, older version, but I installed it in custom directories so if it needed any of the files from that it probably wouldn't have found them. Of course the office DLL's are in my system file. It looks like you got hung up just trying to unpack it though. I'm sure you have a windows/temp so I don't know why it wouldn't work. I reran the setup from my D (non-system) drive and it still managed ok. If all else fails, it wouldn't hurt to download it again. If you can get the install to go any further and tell you if it needs any office DLL's, let me know and I'll send them to you. I made a quick offline avi of AW, seems to work nicely. I was able to find the 2 DLL that Dean pointed to, created the DIRs required, DLed them to it and transferred the 'util' into it... AND it extracted great... Up till the time it completed the extraction... Then it would seem that it DELed all the files again... It appears that it didn't find something on my C: that it was looking for(?)... Like a 'bought' copy of Office(?)... altho' there's not mention that it's required, just that it's included on the CD... So... I guess unless there's some way to get all the extracted files (zipped up nicely) from a temp DIR (hint, hint :-) ) I'l be looking elsewhere... I've found this other program called HyperCam. It also let's you capture
..AVI's of the screen with sound off of your microphone (or no sound at all, so you can add it later). It does take up a lot of disk space per .AVI file, and it does have this little "HyperCam Unregistered" "sticker" at the top right of the .AVI. But I'm sure if you did a search somewhere, you could find a way to get rid of that little "sticker" (hint, hint ;-). You can get it at: http://www.hyperionics.com/www/hypercam.htm. Also, there is a program called Emblaze Creator (which costs WAY too much for me ;-), but has a downloadable demo at http://www.emblaze.com/. It let's you convert any .AVI file into a STREAMING JAVA animation over the Web. Now, if you want just stand-alone JPEG or GIF screen captures, I would go with Clip'nSave. You can find it here: http://www.dynalinktech.com/. I think it is the BEST screen capture program for AW. It doesn't make any "unsightly edges" or "blops" on the screen or any "distortions" and looks very rich and crisp. To hell with other programs! We have a program that has a graphic we can
position and zoom in and out on now (Browser!). All we need is a button to "Snap" the AW Browser camera and a few "Save As..." options to let us pick "*.GIF" or "*.JPG"... etc. Then all we need is a way to attach the files produced by the browser to a telegram and we could all snap pictures of each other all the time and send them back and forth!
