to have chat within my programs??? Id assume id need a server, and probably
the Winsock sdk???
any help out there?

You need to make a server app, have a server to run it on, locatable IP for
the server, and a client, and a protocol to communicate between the 3.

Its 6:15 am and ive been working on Eclipse for 18 hours... but being so
early i think ill have to skip sleep for tonight...
As for VB / C++... all depends, C++ is a lot harder to get the basics going
than VB (Ive never got a hang of it myself) but for small stuff VB is all
you need, if you intend to go into like 50 or so sim connections you need
Winsock 2 and C++.
Then again some good WS2 direct API in VB...

my main intention was to make a MMORPG, but not in full 3d, not yet, that's
being worked on currently, but I want to do one with classic graphics, like
the old rpgs, using sprites, but also some direcx effects, so it looks
amazing, but has that playful classiness to it, I have some game components
ready in vb, but the FPS is very low in it, I heard you can get much better
fps in C, and c++, however it is much harder...iv been learning as many
languages as I can, im starting with VB, I have most of the basics down, and
stuff, but some stuff to me is just ugh
like to make a sprit you need the bitblt function, and stuff to mask them,
and copy them, but I can get allot of stuff single users, and administrator
privileges, but two+ users is hard for me to figure, I know I need it to
relay over a server so that it is accessible. id probably need a dedicated
server correct??

Probably...
As for BitBlt it all depends what kinda caching you do, DirectDraw is best
for that, but its a pain to sort out.
As for VB and DirectX, DX is direct video access, but still runs faster in
compiled EXE form.

You would probably need a dedicated server yeah, though a linux one would be
the best way to go, make a c/c++ app and compile it there for stability. To
communicate between them I would suggest an AW type system where the client
corrects the server if there is lag. It helps with 56k users but eather way
works. You just have to communicate the position and all other relative
information to the server so it can report it to the other clients and they
can see you on screen. I wont pretend to be an expert in this area but ive
got a pretty good idea (The client/server stuff, the last time I messed with
DirectX my screen looked like a hippie van.).

ok, 2 and a half weeks, that's 17, 18 days. ok, the way i need it, people
who would get trained for staying up alot, would go, like, 7 days tops, now
how would you, a child (no offence, mean it as in, under 18) be able to go
18 days straight?
