SDK for linux (Sdk)
SDK for linux // Sdkdavid burkeNov 16, 1998, 10:54pm
Hello Roland, and hello all,
I've been away for awhile, and am glad to hear about the new SDK. I'd really like to start playing with it, but currently my world is running on a linux server. I'd like some input on whether it would make more sense to wait for the unix version of the SDK, or to move my world back to a PC. Do you have a general sense of when there might be a linux version of the SDK? If it's less than a month or two, I'd be inclined to wait. If it's a long way off, I suppose it would be better to just move my world. Thanks, Dave(latenite) roland vilettNov 17, 1998, 12:19am
A UNIX version of the SDK is in the plans, but it won't be until after
version 2.1 of AW is released. In other words, several months from now at the earliest. By the way, there is no requirement that your SDK programs and your world server be running on the same machine or even under the same OS. You can leave your world server running on your Linux server and run your SDK programs from a PC. -Roland [View Quote] edward sumerfieldNov 17, 1998, 2:33am
Your SDK program does not have to run on the same machine as the World server.
If you have a spare windows machine available I would dive right in. Edward Sumerfield.
