For many years now we have been using the [Z](N/S) [X](E/W) [Y](A)
[YAW](Void) method of using coordinates in bots and applications, now,
because pitch is seemingly comming along I think those people in here could
do with thinkup up a new standard notation for it so we can consider using
it as the same in future bots so people dont have to learn 5 or 6 differnt
notations.

Xelagot already seems to use (t) for tilt on objects, seems a suitable
choice unless anyone has other ideas? I think theta or alpha are out of the
question because theyre not available on most standard keyboards without an
Alt Code.

- Hey Cal, how about letting AWEDU have beta world server?

I've always considered AW's position notation to be a major pain and never
found the need to parse it into data. People want to use my stuff, they can
follow my rules ... i.e. provide explicit values for N/S, E/W Altitude, Yaw
(and now Pitch?) and not merge them into a pointless format.

Happy to create AW-esque text from a known position within the code, but my
opinion is that if someone writes a bot where a location can be entered,
give 'em 4 or 5 or 6 fields to put the actual values in.

None SDK programmers wont have a clue what SDK coordinate locations are.

Maybe not, but its not a difficult task to make the jump from "2.4N" to
entering 2.4 in the "N/S" box ... just tell them that -2.4 would mean 2.4S.

If they can't work it out from that, then they're too dangerous to be using
a computer.

But you need 5 labels, 5 boxes and 5 commands for that, unless your an
awkward git using console apps. lol

Guilty as charged

So? If by "5 commands" you mean buttons, you can just have one that's like "Set Coordinates" or something.

Whats easier for the main people...

-2750000 tab 1000000 tab 5000 tab 2700 tab 500 return

orrr...

2750s 1000w 5a 270 5t

[View Quote] Yeah if by main people you mean crazy crackheads that like to multiply #'s and hit
the ackward tab key instead of hitting the spacebar.

Uhh... you can tell them to enter the same coordinates as they would in AW and just multiply them yourself.

Do you even try??

Maybe I misunderstood ... I thought you wanted opinions, and now you have
mine.

One more time, for the record ... I find the AW notation annoying, merging
location attributes into a single free text field. As Agent1 said, -2750 >
1000 > 5 > 270 > 5. It makes much more sense to me ... so I'll leave it
there.

How about something like this?...

[world] ["+"|"-"]%Z["N"|"S"] ["+"|"-"]%X["W"|"E"] [["+"|"-"]%Y"A"] [[["+"|"-"]%PITCH ["+"|"-"]%YAW ["+"|"-"]%ROLL]|[[["+"|"-"]%PITCH] ["+"|"-"]%YAW]]

(case insensative, of course)

Where inclusion of the "N" or "S" makes the %Z (value of Z, or North) component absolute, and inclusion of the "W" or "E" makes the %X (value of X, or West) component absolute, the %Y (value of Y, or Altitude) component is relative if either or both of the %X and %Z components are relative, the %YAW is relative if preceded by a sign (+/-) and the %PITCH and %ROLL components are relative if the %YAW component is relative.

The mandatory "A" for the altitude makes it pretty easy to parse.

Well you stick to what you think isn't wierd, and I'll just ignore what I
think is wierd.
