weird emails // Community

Has anyone else been getting email from someone u dont even know but u klnow
they r from aw? i got one and i forget the name but it was a strange name.
They didn't say much of anything and i replied and asked who they were and
if i am supposed to know them. He/she replied that it was impy. does anyone
know an impy? i sure dont and cant figure out why they would email me. and
my puter has been acting really strange since then. even a whole folder with
pictures dissappeard for no reason at all.

I know an impy.. she's given me snarky tgrams in the recent past so I put
her on iggy. Her name is impy kn.

never mind she said she mailed a mass email and my email was on it but i
sure dont know why she would be emaling me. i dont even know her.

Ahemmm........let me try this again! LOL I just replied under the wrong
thread. (ok, ok.......it's after 3am where I am! lol) As I was saying,
she has responded to you right here in NG's a couple of threads back. I
would say she has taken your email address from here. She didn't have to
look hard or go far to find it.

The email is from Vicky Mauk and I wish she would please stop sending me
emails and she is impy nk ina aw. she just sent me 2 more after she said she
took me off her email list. I dont know what her damn problem is but she
better knock it off! i dont even know who that little witch is!. what a
weirdo! she must get some kind of perverted satisfaction doing this.

Let me warn you about a few things:
1, Never open an email you are not sure about the sender.
2, Never use an email client which displays the email in those fancy form (called HTML <eg>)
3, Be aware that the sender can be infected by a virus which gets the email addresses harvested from his/her Address Book and those mails are claim they are from known source.
I do have my mail server which helps to weed out the bad plants but even that is not enough sometimes.
Always use "text only" emails and never use HTML. Never open ANY attachments you are not expecting to get!
Disappearing picture folders is a sure sign of a virus which can reach your machine only if you did not take the precautions above (and that list is really very short!!!)
Use a client side spam filter (POPFile <http://popfile.sourceforge.net/> or K9 <http://keir.net/k9.html> are good choices, I use them for all my email clients - and they are free), use a firewall which marks/removes attachments which are dangerous (I can go on for hundreds of lines to give more advices but I stop here)

Just a tip I do...
Use an external mailer for unknown mail as in use Yahoo or Hotmail let them
deal with the spam/virus's.
I keep an email addy totally private for special use. Afterall its easier to
delete an account with Yahoo and Hotmail than it is to delete an account
with your ISP.

Well it seems that Skype was the culprit for the dissappearing folder and I
did finally find the folder. for some unknown reason it went to program
files. I just installed Skype a few days ago. I uninstalled it and my puter
is running well again. But I wish that impy would quit emailing me. I dont
know her nor do I ever want to know someone that does what she did.

I'm using Skype since its appearance and it never gave me any headache (of course I never accept any file sent to me through it:) and you know how paranoid I am <eg>

off her email list. I just can't conceive why anyone would email someone
they dont even know. Makes no sense to me at all unless they have a mental

It is possible that the sender doesn't even know that they are coming from
their machine.

If that does happen to fail and not work, I know that Thunderbird has
the nice ability to blacklist email addresses.

Hum seems there could many reasons why this could have happened. Knowing
impy as I do, the simplest reason seems to apply here. She may have simply
hit reply all on an e-mail she was sent, that would have sent the reply to
you as well. I am sure you know that since you seem to be such an
intelligent reasonable person.
Same time, you made the choice to open them. Why not make the choice to put
her on your block or junk list instead so they go directly to your trash
folder?
Why grip and whine in the Newsgroups about something that is completely in
your control, and why get nasty and post the name that came across with her
e-mail address, Judi Gilbert?

the other side of the coin and now realize what a low thing you did, and how
it feels.

I emailed her back and grammed her and asked her kindly not to email me and
take me off her email list. that didn't help she emailed me 2 more after
that. then she had the nerve to tell me not to bring up her name in the NG's
which is where she got my email address from in the 1st place. she also told
me she mass emailed it. She has blocked me from gramming her about this too.
but thats ok i because I blocked her now too and banned her from 7 worlds.
and i'm sure after i tell a my friends about this they will ban her from
their worlds. and one of them owns 8 or 9 worlds.

i just want to know why she even had me on her email list. does she have to
add complete strangers to her email and send them crap? its just is not what
a sane person would do. I have added spam to sapm folder but it doesnt seem

OMG this is to hilarious. all becuase of an email! I get 100s of garbage
emails a day and there is that wonderful button called Delete and another
called Block Sender. And yes I know you wont be able to resist replying to
this one. Unfortunately some people never change :)
