You can get Borland C++Builder 5 for a free 60-day trial... compile and
everything... its better than VC anyway (not to mention more visual) Look around www.borland.com -John Viper jviper at jtsoft.net [View Quote] lanezeriMar 8, 2001, 8:47pm
Borland is good.. it sux tho.. MVC++ is better.. and u wont find one that

Loosely translated, I think it means this:
"While Borland is a good compiler, it sucks." Dunno? :) [View Quote] "lanezeri" <lanezeri at free-1.com> a écrit dans le message news: 3aa80c15 at server1.Activeworlds.com... > Borland is good.. it sux tho.. What's that supposed to mean??? lol Fox Mc Cloud roluMar 9, 2001, 12:52pm

and Microsoft Works, too. (If you don't get that, oh well.)
Anyway, In what way, in your opinion, is VC better than Borland? *watches flame war brew* -John Viper [View Quote] lanezeriMar 9, 2001, 10:14pm
Well.. Grimble.. we know ur a dick.. dont hafta tell us.. and I meant

Visual C++ 6.0 Standard doesn't cost $400 and works just fine for AW and most uses. You should be able to buy direct from Microsoft and some online stores carry it too.

If the price of these products is really an issue you could goto a place
like http://www.gradware.com/ ... You have to have a College ID for this though. If you don't have one you can goto a local community college, sign up for around $15, get the ID, then use it to buy full version software at academic prices. Visual C++ Standard goes for $50, Pro for $100, Enterprise for $190. -Grimm [View Quote] roluMar 10, 2001, 12:58pm

I wish you would explain to me how Microsoft's is better than Borland. I
used MSV for about 6 months, oh wow it was the coolest thing I had ever used, and when I installed Borland, I could develop software so much quicker and easier... Tell you the truth, if I had my way, I would write software in the old DOS way with no IDE or anything. However, that would take years to write a simple greeterbot with all the WinAPI stuff, and so I use and IDE that is quick and efficient. -John Viper [View Quote] |
