Did you know that Windows XP and dos screens may = bluescreen death??? I
didn't. Until today, two bluescreen errors and one call to Microsoft. Way to go, AWI......now what??? sweetsJun 4, 2006, 12:49am
ooooh good, so there is good in the new 4.1.....I sure missed those
bluescreens of death of win98 since I got xp....never seem to get time to go get a coffee anymore LMAO sweets simplaza.netJun 4, 2006, 9:42am
Then thats your problem, you have dos screens up, when the world server
uses a console. Are you talking about the world server? Hell if we know what you're ranting about. [View Quote] lady nighthawkJun 4, 2006, 11:43pm

You shouldn't get any bluescreens randomly unless you have a driver or
hardware problem :) - Ima [View Quote] lady nighthawkJun 5, 2006, 12:33am

I'm assuming you reinstalled your graphics drivers. However, before doing so
did you switch your graphics driver to a generic VGA driver? Also, a while back, some graphics card makers gave out a utility to use as a second step before installing new driver, and it would completely erase all the old part of the driver. You might also look into downloading from microsoft that latest copy of DirectX, even though your automatic updates probably did it for you many moons ago... can't hurt to rerun it. Short of the problems with masks, facers and the like, I am having a grand time graphically speaking. However if I am online using the 949 browser for a couple of hours it eventually starts getting really slow and if I ignore it and don't shut it down, windows reboots. Could also be a heat related issue too since I may be stressing the gpu/cpu with the bazillions of particles I am using. *shrugs* Need to get myself a monitor for that and check. andrasJun 5, 2006, 5:38am

I don't think that can monitor the graphics chip unless it's one of those
that's build into the motherboard that supports it. I wish there was an easy way to monitor the video card heat/fan - the fan quit on my $250 geforce ti4400 and I didn't know it until I happened to shutdown and open my computer and found the fan was frozen up - tried to get a replacement at local store and the guy had to take a screwdriver and play and pry and eventually get the glued on fan off the gpu. Put another fan on but when I put the card back in the PC I had glitches all over the screen at power up. So had to buy a new video card - FX5700le which should be better than the ti4400 I guess and it was about $120 locally. But that was expensive considering the $250 for the ti4400. Also, warranty means nothing. the PNY ti4400 has a Lifetime Warranty. Right, I had it 2 or 3 years, and they wold not honor the warranty because the ti4400 is "obsolete" thus the "life of the product" has expired. That sucks. It's apparently the video driver (I have an ATI All-in-Wonder 9800), the
driver I installed was from the CD, not any update since, manly because I can't really tell what the *new driver* is!? Apparently neither ATI nor MS knows what is causing the crashing ... As far as DirectX I'm on the newest. LNH [View Quote] talisanJun 6, 2006, 1:10am
I'll check it out, thanks Andras

lol, guess I need a couple more fans! Wow does my cpu get hot fast when I go
into AW. Shoots up by 10C in a minute or so, so does the case ambient, though not as fast, the hard drives go up by a couple of degrees as well that's just probably part of the cascade from the cpu. I've not tested it for 2 hrs, will do that tomorrow. |
