Problems with 4.1 // CommunityangelicusMay 30, 2006, 10:49pm
Ha ha nothing serious, but is anyone else having trouble staying in 4.1
I was in there for all of about 20 minutes, now I can't get back in, just trying to find out if it's Me, the hosting or AW Any info would be great thanks kennethMay 30, 2006, 11:12pm

Thanks Kenneth
Can't say it is a surprise. After all, I am running a 3mb connection and it took over 1/2 hour to download the program in the first place. The AW servers must have had a s*it fit [View Quote] talisanMay 30, 2006, 11:20pm
It went BOOM. I was able to get all the files downloaded, over 25mbs for 1
world ;p You can go back, even with the server down, just start the 4.1 browser, SKIP the logon, then teleport to AWGate... then explore what you had already downloaded. I think I got about 75% of the world in my cache... I uploaded it to www.darkestdestiny.com/cache.zip (25Mb download). Just unzip it into your Active Worlds directory where the cache should be, then follow the directions in the previous paragraph. Happy exploring... until the 4.1 uni comes back online. The particle effects for the waterfall are way cool... and the flowers falling from the peach tree forest are too cool. The dandilions releasing their seeds into the air aint half bad either. Oh, as a caution, DO NOT click on the lawn gnome near GZ! tehehehe [View Quote] kennethMay 30, 2006, 11:26pm
Immigration Officer: Due to the overwhelming response to 4.1, it overloaded
the network routers and we had to shut down the 4.1 universe. The network service provider will be upgrading the routers tomorrow and we will then reopen 4.1. We apologize for any inconvenience :-) [View Quote] angelicusMay 30, 2006, 11:28pm
lol, yup, I said all along that the AW servers couldn't do it.
They should have rolled it out in sections. First for the host, (which they did) Then world owners then citz then tourists not just put it in the immigration and leave it as a free for all. Oh well, looks like we'll all be waiting till this time tomorrow to get 4.1 [View Quote] talisanMay 30, 2006, 11:31pm
This is a good thing really... the stress test of having close to 100 people
simultaneously downloading 25Mb of data in one world should be an indication that things need to be upgraded. blueguyMay 31, 2006, 1:44am
Aww, do you need some comfort? *pats your back* It's ok... tomorrow will be
better... I promise. [View Quote] blueguyMay 31, 2006, 1:48am
I doubt any other 4.1 worlds have yet to use the features of the new
server/browser.So, even if they did, probably not worth the time to download. [View Quote] angelicusJun 1, 2006, 7:10pm
Hi Marnie
It would seem that you have a dll file missing, http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?gdiplus The above link will allow you to download the gdiplus.dll (for free) however I don't know where it needs to be copied too, so that may be a bit of trial and error on your part, but I think it needs to be copied to your system or system 32 folder within windows. Perhaps someone else can confirm? Anyway hope it helps. [View Quote] blueguyJun 1, 2006, 9:35pm
Goto www.microsoft.com and do a search for gdiplus.dll and it will give you
a page to download the .net dll files, install it, and all your worries... at least .dll worries should be done with. marnieJun 4, 2006, 7:03am
