Some may or may not have heard of DotSoul. Its a legitamate 4.1 universe
complete with build. It's also free, however there is a review process
to ensure that the community grows properly.

Their success of their 'community values, not money' is the reason for
their review process, so don't barge in expecting an instant
citizenship. Its pretty quick if you show creative skill or have good
charisma and make a good greeter.

You are then offered land on the main island, which you can develop on
until eventually you may chose to move to a very large island of your
own. The owner is willing to expand lots big enough for testing, but
don't be greedy.

So yeah, it's been pretty fun there with all these new features. Buggy,
but its beta, and AW's done a great job. Screenshots for my build and
experiments, along with a blog on experience of building in 4.1 are at

To clarify: Look around for 'Dreamwalker' who is usually on after 12 VRT
at GZ and he'll set you up. Although at the moment he may want to hold
off until everything is organized somewhat.

I checked out that universe... maybe I just got a bad impression, but
the builds in the crater look like they were actually hit by an
asteroid. I tried to ask in the most polite way where the builds or
areas that wern't just absolute random 'playing around with 4.1 effects'
style test-builds were, but no one seemed to know.

Does the universe have any real builds, anything nice, or is it just
some random disjointed piles of objects?

Thats the thing, most of the users are just testing 4.1. There's just
too much to test is all =P Some of us are trying though. Just not the
kids like Kyle

Build rights have been suspended in DotSoul. I was told they would
remain suspended until AWI releases 4.1 to the public.

Right in the middle of a building project I had going last night, the
galaxy went down and this morning I was informed of the suspension.

Why would they do that, or were they some how 'illegaly' upgrading their
world to 4.1 ?

because the owner is testing there too.

That universe is really really awful. It's like a giant earth moving
machine dug its tungston teeth into an absolutely random spot in alpha
world's NAC wastelands some time in late 1998 then just kinda dropped
the objects and parts of buildings into a big landfill along with a few
random particle emitters.

It's so sad to see such a huge financial investment in something as full
of opportunity as a new universe used no where near its fullest, or even
barely used at all. Why not create an interesting community with
direct support for towns and community building. Why not create an
interesting building game, or an interesting theme, or just ANYTHING
other than "Here's some land.. I guess you could build.. what ever."

it's like seeing some crazy billionare building a huge land reclamation
island in Hong Kong's Harbour and announces that aliens have given him
construction technology decades ahead of what anyone else has, and as
the world watches what fantastic amazing project will be put on this new
plot of land where anything is posible, he just throws up some early
90's pink stucco McMansion and calls it a day as that's the grandest
project he could devise. He's not making a statement or flaunting his
wealth, he's just lazy and uncreative. But I guess its his island and
he can waste it how ever he wants. But that's not to say the world
can't look at him like a fool who threw away one of the greatest
opportunites.

But who knows, maybe he's just biding his time in his ugly little
cheaply made house untill the plans for his giant mega-arcology / space
elevator / cure for cancer is finished. The world can only hope and
wait... or write pointless frustrated NG posts.

I guess that means you won't be joining their "Galaxy" then? I'm sure
the owner is heartbroken.

They would do what ever AWI instructs them, because they are the ones who
have been granted access to 4.1, so unless they want to lose their own
testing privileges, they would comply with AWI.

As to why AWI would do such a thing, it would be obviously because they are
not ready to reveal 4.1 like that.. They wanted the building and all that to
remain a secret for a little longer.

If everyone went to that universe and were using all the features, there
would be little surprise when AWI releases 4.1 oficially.

I've had previous arguments in that same universe, stating the same as you..
Yet I still hear its a galaxy, back from the same people.. They believe a
galaxy can have two worlds.. not bloody likely.
