AW Inspired By book "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson (Community)
AW Inspired By book "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson // Community

I just read on http://www.answers.com/activeworlds that in 1994, AW was
inspired by the book "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson. Looks like a pretty
cool book, has anyone read it? Even has a guy named Enzo in it. The product
description says: " In reality, Hiro Protagonist delivers pizza for Uncle
Enzo's CosaNostra Pizza Inc., but in the Metaverse he's a warrior prince."
Interesting, might give it a read sometime soon. Amazon.com URL is

I read the book about 8 years ago, right before I found AW. I liked the
book. The creator/inventor of the AW program, Ron Britvich, used the
nickname "Protagonist" as well. Try these links:

thanx :) that was really great to read how it was in the beginning and how
it all started. It would be nice if they could get some interviews now as to
how far aw has evolved since then. would be great free advertisement too.

I read "Snow Crash" years ago and made a post about it ages ago here on
the newsgroups. Yes, some of the things in AW appear to be "borrowed"
from "Snow Crash." If you enjoy the book, be sure to check out other
works by Mr. Stephenson and watch movies like "Tron," "Johnny Mnemonic,"
"The Lawnmower Man," etc.

If you go to COFMeta, you can even visit the Black Sun club. Equipped with
falling safes and all.
