Anyone here have an X800 video card? // Communitysw comitNov 29, 2004, 6:05pm
I was thinking about picking up an ATI X800 Pro video card but I'd like know
what kinda gains there will be in AW, since it's a rather expensive piece of hardware. Could somebody teleport to AW 2349S 3858E 270 and tell me what their visibility needs to be to achieve 25+ fps? For a proper test don't move or turn at all from the coordinates given. And maybe also list what your CPU is too... 80 meters for 25 fps on my 9800SE with an AMD XP 2500. - Comit www.swcity.net themaskNov 29, 2004, 8:58pm
I've got planned to make some more money on gameservers, so I can buy
this monster card. But I've heard so far it's very smooth. Check around on google for bench statistics on the card. Should find you some valuable info. -- Signed, TheMask :: Owner of Delusional-Minds Hosting :: Free world hosting.. Just a T-Gram will do it. the j0k3r ssNov 30, 2004, 12:47pm
for AW your 9800SE is way enough , its even enough for recent games so dont
worry :) sw comitNov 30, 2004, 3:56pm
Meh...SE = suckey edition. All the reject cards get handed down to the
second market and the third party companies mark them down. Cheap though :) According to some benchmarks an x800 would perform over 4x better. But I'd like some real-world comparisons for AW, since AW is kinda weird on the technical side. [View Quote] sweNov 30, 2004, 4:02pm
on AW for some reason, the x800 pro i have aint that good O_O amazing with
most games, play things like need for speed underground 2, and half life 2, with everything at full details, but on AW, i get pretty much the same results your get. oh, on an amd athlon 64bit 3200+,1gb ram. and directx 9c. -SWE [View Quote] kfNov 30, 2004, 6:09pm
It only will increase significantly when you use antialiasing 8X in
combination with a screen resolution of 1920*1440 - else, even the 9600 Pro for maybe 100$ is a top pick for AW already. :-) [View Quote] sw comitDec 1, 2004, 8:53pm
After having a chat with SWE I decided it wouldn't be worth it (performance
was identical). Money goes towards a new CPU and Motherboard now :O [View Quote] |
