AWI should accept a volunteer from the community to replace MM :¬O

Not paid work, but a volunteer. There's no reason not to do that, IMO.

I've been told that AWI is not going to seek anyone to replace MM. And who
could?

I don't think you could find anyone that could possibly do what MM did
and not need some kind of pay.
I only organized 1 group and can't imagine what time consumption being a
liason to all of the groups can be.
Yikes!

Rick and JP are just milking AWI for all the money it's worth, the only
reason it remains around with as little staff as possible. They don't care
enough to expand it. AW is no longer about the community, no longer about a
dream to create a 3D version of the internet. It's just a money put that two
men wait at the bottom of for more people to throw money into. A lost cause.
AW is no longer what it was, and never will be again....at least as long as
Rick and JP are still behind it.

Sincerely,

Brock

That might be the way it appears on the face of it but what a lot of may not
see is that the Activeworlds technology is one thing and the activeworlds
universe is a community another.

In effect is Activeworlds a show piece for the technology. While several
people / companies / communities have purchased there own licenses of the
technology.

Rick and JP as I understand it work on developing custom projects for
companies that people do not get to see or here about. In the end the
community benefits as do other licensed universes as this technology filters
down into new releases of the software at a later date.

All of this research and development has to be funded from somewhere I.E the
clients, Rick and JP.

The AW community systems income has to go to self supporting it self and in
effect this has to contribute to the upgrade of its software just like any
3rd party would as that is just the way a good business operates.

I just think if people thought about all of the above first then perhaps
they might come to a different con collusion rather than just going into
Rick / JP bashing mode IMHO just because something they took for granted
changes.

*Don't bother flaming me its just my opinion lol*

Sorry, but the truth is apparent.
They obviously don't care about the technology, or the community that it
encompasses. AW is no longer what it was.

Just pointing out a fact.

I don't know about anyone else but I enjoy aw and I play in it and enjoy it
as it is. Quit bashing aw and enjoy it. If u dont like it simply get out! I
don't care what they do with my money I am just happy to be here. I dont
like the prices either but when I consider the alternative its not so bad.
The alternative being having to give up my hobby or going to a cheaper dead
uni thats not gonna be around as long as aw. Thats my opinion. Everytime i
have been to them theres only 0-9 users in them. So even cheaper uni's
aren't fun for me like aw is. So I am just gonna enjoy it as long as it's
here and not complain or worry where the money is going.

Joe, shut up. Why would you even post something like that?

On another note, I find it hard to believe Ciena, that you don't care what
they do with you're money. The more of you're money the use on the AW
Universe/Technology the longer it will last. ;)
While I too enjoy using AW just as much as the next guy, I am constantly
concerned by what they are doing with my (the customers) money to improve
this product I love so much. Now, when you're a builder, or modeler, the
thing you want your money to go into is better building/graphics
capabilities to make your building/modeling experience that much better. Why
not? You pay for it, right? Now, if you're a community/social person, such
as myself, you want them to put you're money into projects like new worlds
(such as AWRPG and NewAW) or working on improving the older ones (something
that has never been done).
And what is something both groups of people want to get what they want?
Contact with the persons that are handling their money. And who was the
person had contact with AWI the AW Community?

The point being that it would be good to see what our money is going
towards.

we have been getting upgrades. doesnt it cost for those? This is a business
for them, If more money is being spent than they r makeing then they might
as well shut down. They gotta make a living too. I really dont care where my
money is going as long as aw stays here and i can keep building. And no im
not really a social person because i love building and thats what i am doing
when im here. Building and creating is my hobby not chatting. I have my
worlds and i do what i want in them and that makes me happy :) you sound
like we arent getting anything out of this program but i know i sure am :)
there is more upgrades comming still too so be patient.

Well I agree totally with Brock. JP and Rick want all the money. The staff
is slowly but surely dissapearing. We are getting less and less
features...all they want is money. No concern for half the stuff that goes
on in AW anyways. Do you ever see them online? Hardly at all. As said in
posts above, AW will NEVER be like it used to be. And there it is. My
opinion.

Hi everyone:

[View Quote] Well then why don't you do so using the name we're used to knowing you as
BROCK instead of hiding behind that cloak-and-dagger name you're using
now....

Just MY opinion....

Hi everyone:

[View Quote] I have to agree with Ciena on this one. While they not be where *I* am,
they DO get on (at least ENZO does). Sometimes he's on out of sheer boredom
and sometimes he's on for a scheduled chat. Either way, ENZO does find time
to get on.

Incidentally, the ONLY time I've EVER noticed YOU on Jag was when you
grammed me earlier today about Hamsterville and later my house.

Cheers for now everyone :-)

Perhaps it's possible that the ppl that run AW dont see AW the way we die
hard consumers do? And perhaps its just as possible that we have no way of
understanding how they see AW either?

A chat with a person once affiliated with the hierarchy in AW gave me an
insight into the differences between the different viewpoints, neither being
solely morally wrong or right.

I do know that their community/ hierarchy communication leaves a lot to be
desired without someone that understands both the community and the
restrictions placed on the big bugs..... how many of those ppl exist,
especially these days?

I said "huh?" because I was blindsided by such an off-base remark. I didn't
know quite how to take it aside from being astonished that someone would
make such a silly, uninformed remark. I think he must work for one or the
other of the US Presidential campaign groups...
