Oh well, I guess it was simply a nice way to reflect the written
modern anglosaxon speech convention:

December 25th, 1066

Not very usefull really when thinking logically, as a computer does:
you either go BigEndian or LittleEndian, not bot or MiddleEndian :)

Unfortunately, no one dared to change this before it became widespread
on internet, infecting all our minds. You would have thought that the
nerds would have stopped this while they still ruled!

I stick to either YYYY MM DD or DD MM YYYY, I'll leave MM DD YYYY to
hybrids or LSDers :)
