Hi All,
It has come to my attention that more and more tourists are coming into
AWGate, saying "I've found something better than AW! it's called..... and is
at ...........com"

It's getting stupid and those stupid spamming tourists (not pointing at all
tourists) will just have to keep it too themselves! Please don't feed them
by saying "What's It Called?" because this triggers the URLs and what not.

Thank You
Ry

I agree totally. Don't feed onto what they're saying. Senseless....

Those URLs should be added to the CA bot ejection list.

I know in another universe, if someone says another known universe name or
link, it says:
<name>: Hey everyone! goto www.<censored>.com its really good!

Which i think is good.

AW browser version 4.0 shall be a multiverse browser anyway with which
you can visit all other universes.

AW probably does not really care whether other universes are advertised,
since when other universes have a lot of visitors, their owners are
likely to upgrade and maintain the license - AW is in the lucky position
that, whether in the own or in another universe, they always get a share
somehow. :-)

Plus - why not let people know about other universes who would like to
have visitors (not private or small group ones), the whole AW community
wins from it, because it is better that an unsatisfied person leaves for
another universe in the same community than to leave for a complete
different product.

However, I'd rather fancy some list or information at AWgate or in the
help file than announcements, which I consider to be vocal environment
pollution.

To be honest, seeing other programs may be interesting, and if we had some
sort of chat between several products (Active Worlds, Worlds, Cybertown,
etc.) that could be helpful for all involved. Advertising is generated and
ideas may be shared

I think it's usually other programs that are advertised, like There
(bleeachh!), Cybertown (VRML!! BLEEEACCHHHH!!) and Worlds (Java? JAVA?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA).

Good point, sgeo. Almost from the time I 1st joined AW, I've been interested
in any other alternatives to 3D communities online and have spent lots of
time visiting many of them. I used to get negative responses from early
loyal AW users when I'd tell them about my travels outside of AW and ideas
of somehow "bridging" the unrelated universes via weblinks and whatnot. I
learned not to talk about it except to known, reasonable and rational
friends. It seems now that the idea's time has entered into a more accepting
environment, based upon the fact that you weren't immediately flamed for
your suggestions (the 2 irrational negative responses you received here I
discounted, of course lol). We may be seeing the beginning of a universal
internet 3D environment that is described in the novel "Snowcrash" that,
btw, AW's original programmer based his ideas on : )
