Ihnk, religions aren't things to faithfully follow, they are more like a
potpourri of rules that people can pick and choose from to back up what ever
current personal beliefs need backing up or short comings that need filling
in. Think people should be nicer to each other? Quote from a book rather
than forming your own ideas! Don't like a current political trend?
Interpret a quote to prove the trend is wrong! Got a bunch of miss-placed
hate you want to target at a group? Don't worry, apparently so does god!!
Want to go to war? Yep! It works in all cases. Just be careful to never
actually read and follow ALL the rules, because that may inconvenience your
life and make you realize that most of the rules are utter out of touch
draconian gobshite.

Sounds like a twisted, convoluted misguided out of context theory by someone
who selectively studied the subject from the outside in rather than from the
inside out like some of the rest of us have done. You did spend a good
amount of time studying the subject and the people who practice it before

hopes that everyone in AW knows Christ as their Lord and Savior. And if
they don't, I invite them to the road to salvation. It is a life changing,
soul saving experience. : )

Devil is a Christian word, it doesn't apply.

Wicca is NOT a fellowship with any devil. The devil is a Christian myth.
Wicca is a fellowship with the earth. Father Air, Mother Earth. Please get
that right. We Wiccans have but one rule 'Harm no one, do what you will'.
Sounds easy? ....It is not Devil worship...It is a religion honouring love
of the earth and fellow man...Kind of like what your Jesus was talking
about, isn't it?

The Lady, I've never been to any "wine parties/grape stomp parties" in
AW before. While I *am* a Catholic and I *don't* drink alcohol, I don't
think that the AW newsgroups are the proper place to talk about your
religious views or to try and push your beliefs onto someone else
(whether you were trying to do it purposely or not). There are plenty of
other newsgroups, forums, message boards, Web sites, and blogs about
religion. I suggest you take the discussion there instead.

Yes I think many people get confused with Christianity calling Wicca
devil worship. It has to be explained carefully it seems...

Wiccans do not believe in the devil. And this is not what Christianity
is trying to say when it calls Wicca devil worship! And neither should
it be taken in a condemning context. Look at it from the point of view
of the Cristian belief for a second. Since Christianity says wicca's
gods are false, then worshipping one of Wicca's gods is worshipping the
devil - from the Christian point of view.

Now anyone who tries to call Wiccans evil because of this is wrong. From
Christianity's point of view, Wiccans are *misled* and are actually
worshipping the devil, albeit with the best of intentions. A lot of
people, Christians and Wiccans, twist this round the wrong way ("Wiccans
are evil!" "Christians are persecuting us!") which can only be harmful.

At our Christian youth group we were taught about Wicca. We were *not*
told that it is evil. We were told about the Christian point of view -
that Wicca's gods must be false. We were also told about how Lucifer
(the devil) used to be the angel of light - and thus he can create
pretty lightshows and make himself seem like a god. We were told of
ex-Wiccans now Christians who had listened to the Christian point of
view and thought about it seriously. And the goal was not to tell us
that Wicca is evil, but to tell us the REAL Christian belief, that
Wiccans have been misled by Lucifer.

So sweets, from your "Kind of like what your Jesus was talking about,
isn't it?" you obviously seem very hurt. I just want to set the record
straight about what Christianity is supposed to be saying. "Devil
worship" should not be used to say that Wicca is evil, and people that
persecute ANY religion are wrong in doing so. Christianity says that
Wiccans are being misled by Lucifer, and it does not, and should not,
say any more than that.

It also annoys me when I see the argument that "Wiccans do not believe
in the devil therefore calling Wicca devil worship cannot be true", for
one of two reasons. Either a Wiccan has not properly examined the
Christian point of view, or a Christian has not properly studied the
Christian point of view.
