Ever wonder why they eject people for no reason at all, and never explain
why they do it?

A lot of the GKs in AWGate are fairly nice people. I go there a lot to talk
to peeps, and I think I've only been ejected once, and that was from the
Customs Aide. I'm sure it's hard to determine a person whose intent is to
cause trouble, from a person they don't know as well coming in and causing
trouble unintentionally. Many GKs would probably tell you why you were
ejected if you simply telegrammed them asking. And chances are, if you get
ejected, you should have some idea as to why if you are aware of the conduct
guidelines. There are a few incidents I'm sure when people have had no idea
why they were ejected, and for that, telegramming them or emailing them in a
respectable way would probably clear up the issue.

I've been ejected ... I put out the awb34.exe URL for a friend and whamo!
Ejected... I was somewhat ticked at the time since it was a legitimate AW
url ... but I guess they can't program the bot for specific *allowed* urls
or something. LOL

Yeah - that's one thing that gets my knickers in a knot. Nowhere in the
guidelines are you warned about posting .exe urls. >: /

Problem is, by the time the bot has ejected you the URL is already out
to the public. So what is the point of the bot actually ejecting you and
leaving it at that?

Would it not be better if the bot automatically sent a message in bold
or colour to the public warning that accepting or downloading files from
someone you do not know is dangerous and may contain viruses. As well as
perhaps ejecting that individual who posted the URL - although a little
over the top.

Omg, a WK leader was ejected from the Gate...now I must follow in her
footsteps and do the same in AWNewbie. Your my role model. ;-)

Exactly. It's already "out there". I still think the chat in The Gate needs
to be on a 5 second delay so the bot can catch crapola like that before it
gets "out there".

And the GKs have a macro warning about clicking on unknown urls because they
may contain a virus. The only problem with that (only???) is that the person
who posted the url (non-.exe types) gets their shorts in a wad proclaiming
LOUDLY and repeatedly, "It's safe!!!" "It's safe!!!"

This was funny one time, though - a well known Cit kept posting urls to
pics of his. Everytime he posted another url, BANG! Up went my warning
macro. hehehe It got to be a joke. I told him he's gonna make me break my
macro. Soooooo ......... I "unbolded" and waited for the next url. BANG!
Except it was more like a "whimper". My macro went up, but not in the GK
bold. LoL!!!
Everybody started LoL and telling the "offender" he made me brake the macro
button. LoL!!!!!

As long as there are rules, there will be ppl insisting on breaking them.
And when they get *BUSTED* they will bitch and moan about the "power hungry
GKs" and the general unfairness of the entire universe.

btw, Anduin. As long as I have your attention .......
Would you fix your signature little peeping man thinger? It's driving me
CrAzY!!!!! Hit the space bar a few times on the top two lines to get his
hair and eyeballs over his fingers. LMAO!!!! plz? : ) Hee heeeee

I agree, good idea about the delay before showing urls at least. I find it
alittle annoying when everything I or others say is delayed tho ... that's
paramount to laaaaaaaaaaaag. Perhaps rather than immediate ejection, the CI
could stop urls from showing? Maybe no urls in AWGate? Dunno what would be
the solution there but most urls are legit websites/pages and are not cause
for ejection.

Personally, on the complaint of *macro use* I like the macros myself. Why
type the same thing over n over. Macros rock! They are intended for new
users and I think are very clear. It wasn't so long ago when I was a tourist
and GK Arella macroed the beejeebers outa me. I was glad to have *someone*
talking to ME and telling ME how the program worked while everyone else
chatted. Then shortly after I got a cit, and when I went from tourist to cit
.... the onduty GK congradulated me! I was in shock to think someone knew
that! LOL

I think most of the GKs do a great job.

There is no way to stop URLs from showing unless the chat is totally
taken over by the bot.

A simple switch to the plugin server would fix that.

<snip>

Perhaps the global chat feature should be enabled in AWGate with a bot
filtering all messages before spitting them back out - Like they've done
in NewAW.

My 9 year old brother uses AW and has been to a world KidZone I believe?
I forget the name. Anyway, I believe they use this exact technique and
filter swear words. If they were to swear their word would be replaced
by another funnier word and they would not be ejected for accidentally
swearing.
