Activeworlds Organization Meetings (Community)
Activeworlds Organization Meetings // Community
Mar 29, 2003, 6:43pm
Organizations within the Activeworlds universe are not giving equal
consideration to everyone by calling spur of the moment meetings. It's
wrong. It must stop because it excludes members of the community when it is
practiced.

More accurately, if there were only more people in AW to know.

AWTeen meetings being organized two or three days before they're held as to not give
leeway for plans. They should be organized a least 2 weeks ahead of time. That's
what I assume his problem is.

If that's the case, then why didn't she just mention some examples? heh,
with AWTeen meetings, generally they are on Saturdays, sometime around 6pm
vrt, so, if you don't want to get left out of the loop, just make sure you
go into awteen on a saturday and find out if there is a meeting that day
*grin*

For one.....mention the group that you are talking about that is doing this
and maybe you can get some answers to your post. This just confuses
people.....we're not playing "Blues Clues" here.

Basically she is on about how meetings are often spontainous, hell im
infamous for calling spontainious meetings It got me thrown out of MaEC in
AWTeen (that and working too hard, TWICE) anyway thats besides the point...
The point is for all of you who want your meetings to me mapped out 7 years
into the future its _not_going_to_happen_ because noone changes their plans
for AW if you give them 2 minutes notice, 2 hours, 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months
or 2 years because nomatter how much time you give them if people have
something better to do they will do it, and if they havent they will stay
for the meeting regardless, hell I can just go to bed and have a bot speak
whats being said so I dont have to be sat at the computer staring at it (a
good idea btw).
Sure some people get 'upset' when they dont get to all the meetings *glares
at certain lady* but the way I see it you usualy end up with a much better
attitude with spontainious meetings... Remember back to when AWI raised the
prices, a few of us went "right then!?" and within 5 minutes the meeting
hall at my mansion in Alphaworld was full and we ended up having to go
outside.
So its not that people dont like spontainious meetings, its only when they
are deliberatly timed to keep some people out or cause distruption to them
*glares at certain members of awteen core* that it should be considered a
problem, otherwise its all good unless it gets out of hand...
Anyway I have this f**king virus (the 1 that attacks Kazzaa although I only
have Imesh :S bah identical source code anyway...) and teach certain EXE's
the joys of what happens when you open a file in binary in C++ and slowly
begin using a seek an overwrite function ;)

There should always be a set amount of time given for people to attend a
meeting. The meeting location should never be changed unless a very good
reason and someone should be there to direct attendees to the new location
if it has to be changed. It should be decided in advance by all what
criteria constitutes an emergency meeting and certain members should be
elected to have the authority to use that at their discretion. However,
that should be used sparingly for special situations.

what group are you talking about? there are many meetings of many groups,
public and closed door. There are AWI staff meetings that we common people
never hear about, and there are large public meetings that different groups
hold, which group are you talking about?

Theyre not going to let you spy on them you know...
- Mark
Apr 9, 2003, 6:36pm
There are 24 hours in a day and just as many time zones - not everyone can
schedule a meeting for 3 PM EST and expect ppl from the other side of the
world to participate.
Making a universal schedule is nearly impossible on a world wide scale when
it comes to meetings in AW. Instead just get the meeting notes and deal with
it.
In the future just have them post times and dates in an area you can access
or just ask the head of the group to notify you of any spur of the moment
meetings.
Some things need to be dealt with immediately and as such, cannot wait two
months for everyone involved to find free time to attend.
Check your messages and often ;)
