Hi, I will not explain here why I was shutting A!!CT world down, besides the
fact that we wanted to enable terrain under the excisting builds.
A!!CT World has closed at it's scheduled time of 12:00AM VRT Friday night.
Many people protested my willing to close A!!CT World for good, because of
rude obnoxious jealous people who go around giving you a bad name.
I don't ask for nothing, all my worlds are bought and paid for, some are
open build, some are tourist enabled, I loan out 11 cits bought and paid for
and charged to me every month. LOL people complain about the price of one
cit, those 11 cits are not world cits either.
I am a very generous person, I like AW and I like most people and feel that
some on AW dislike me, but I am not quite sure why.
Are there people that are jealous of me or are they just people who pick and
choose, like clicks?
Anyways I want to make two points here. No.1) I am not here to compete with
any world owners, I just want to provide a world or group of worlds for
people to enjoy! A!!CT is a "G" rated world. "G" rated means General
admission, this is a family world and I feel a family includes children,
therefore my world (although critisized for its allowing kids) will allow
kids!
Point No.2) If you come to A!!CT and don't like it there, there are 1200
other worlds out there, don't go around like a "Brat" and spread rumors
about me or my worlds.
This was done by two people who sucked off my generosity, then persauded
people to leave by creating false rumors.
When my builders leave and tell me they were told bad things about me, it
makes me wonder if people have minds of their own. But it also makes me
realize how adults complain about kids in AW, yet they infact are more
immature than the kids.
For one, so what if we allow kids in A!!CT, we are not child molesters nor
will we tolorate phediphiles in A!!CT if it is known they are one.
Also I feel if i kid is home and safe in front of the PC in a clean chat
program, I may just be keeping that kid off the streets and out of jail!
I try to the best of my ability to make A!!CT world a safe world for all, I
think I do pretty good for a one man show! Yes I ask for help, but I don't
need adults who pulled the crap the last two did to me.
I have been temped so many times to post the slanderous telegrams and chat
of the people who cause problems and then they say it's not 'them', it's you
MrBruce.that brings it onto yourself. I dislike people who never admit they
are wrong!
At the overwhelming reqeust of the builders of A!!CT, I have agreed only to
close A!!CT until we have the terrain worked in under the present builds.
Then I will see what happens, hopefully the PKs will put these two people
(who I will not name) in their place. It also sickens me when 3rd parties
say "But the slanderous "person" loves A!!CT world"! Right my point is if
you love it..you don't destroy it with rumors!
My point here is this (as I am not going to slander the "slanderous people"
here) A!!CT has been given a second chance for AW citizens to populate,
build and call a part of their lives, use it..don't abuse it, use it...or
lose it.

Watch for the new and improved A!!CT Worlds grand re-opening to be
announced.

While i applaud your goals, that of a world where tourists and citizens can
mingle and build contentedly together..... i question some of the choices
you have made in those you have vested your trust and authourity. More than
once i have confronted ppl that have vandalised AW Newbie /Awschool with
teleports to your world, and i seriously doubt the maturity level of the ppl
involved. I also question the attainability of your goals. The best one can
do is supply a world where tourists can build TEMPORARILY and make an
effort to keep the idiots out. As i am attempting this is AWNewbie i realise
the impossibiity of doing a complete job and content my self with providing
somewhere that newbies can TRY their hand at building. Guarantees are
something that is impossible to provide and will create heartache if you
try. I would appreciate any help or co operation you feel willing to provide
and vice a versa but the bottom line is...... Tourists are the "shareware"
visitors to our universe and as such are impossible to provide complete
protection for and that is as it should be. The goal is, and should be the
encouragement of the Tourists to register and provide their own protection.

MrBruce is not responsible for those who like his world. If they wish to act
immaturely while representing A!!CT that's most obivously their problem, not
MrBruce's.

Well while you have good intentions MrBruce, some tourists are just going to
cause trouble - some of these are teenagers/kids who have nothing better to
do except cause trouble. I do think that your attempts are making AW a
better place for tourists, but you are going to reach a lot of difficulties
in doing it..I agree with kellee that it may be impossible to have tourists
do builds then keep it there...you have to realize that tourism is like a
"preview" of AW into our program and community..it can't be a substitute for
actual citizenship.

It isn't a substitute for an actual cit. That's why tourists don't get a
whole av list or contacts. If they don't have a place to experiment and
learn how to use AW and learn what AW is all about then they wouldn't have
any reason to pay for a cit. And if they don't have a chance to settle, in
some way, and get to know the actual community, all they will see is what is
usually on the surface; a bunch of people who claim to love their community
but complain about the program (AW) and complain about the new people
comming into the program. Why on earth would any one want to invest in a
program where the usual patrons are always complaining about it? And why on
earth would they want to invest in a program where they are made to feel
unwelcome? And what's it to you if MrBruce is nice enough to put his own
money out there to buy a world for tourist use? MrBruce doesn't work for AW,
so why do you feel he should follow the same ground rules for tourists that
are set up in worlds like Alpha World? It's his world, he makes the rules.
It's as simple as that. If he wants tourists building in his worlds then he
has every right to let them build for as long as he wants them to build,
with what ever rules he sets up. And if people don't like it, there are
plenty of other FREE build worlds you can build in with rules you may like
better.

BTW I don't think any of the cits who build in free build worlds will ever
be really happy with any ground rules set down for tourists. So, they can
always invest in a private world of their own, and make their own ground
rules :)

MrBruce, a possible solution may be to have a world just for tourist only
and another world just for cits only :) It seems that the people in this
community don't like to mix with the lower class (tourists). I think it just
reminds them that they were once the lower class themselves. :)

I will answer several questions directed at me all in one response.
First I want to say that many of the tourists who come to A!!CT world do
infact become citizens.
The pride of A!!CT world is the fact that not only are tourists welcomed,
but the pride of A!!CT world is that we save those dreams via Hamfon's
buildbot.
A tourists' biggest turn off is to come to AW and find they can build
something really cool, the turn off is to find its been deleted! All their
hard work and imaginations is wiped out by some jealous idiot! To me this
would piss me off and I would say OK I am not welcomed here and since I am
not welcomed here I am leaving!
The thing the AW community does not realize is when a tourist builds their
first build, it means alot to them, it's like having your first car, or your
first baby, it gets taken away from you and how do you feel?
Also by dealing with tourists on a daily basis, I know that the thought of
your first build can be saved using a bot and if its deleted, adds security
and confidence in this program, knowing your first build can be rebuilt in
seconds, or transfered to your NEW citizen account!
What you as citizens do not realize is that 7 out of 10 tourist who built in
A!!CT are now citizens, the other 3 left, because their build was deleted
before it could be bot copied. All I see is signs at their build site saying
my "build has been deleted again I won't be back"!
Perhaps I should keep some type of public record to show the results.
Perhaps I should ask tourists who have joined citizenship if they mind me
making it public to show that it does work
I can name most of them but I would prefer their approval first.
Also, I MUST stress, it is NOT the tourists who are a problem to me, it is
actual registered CITIZENS who are my biggest problem. I watch citizens who
are so stupid that they enter A!!CT at GZ as a citizen and switch to a
tourist, then they go around swearing, cursing and deleting tourist builds.
Its CITIZENS who come to A!!CT GZ and switch to a tourist and swear causing
Zbot to eject them for using profanity.
How many posts must I make to get the point accross to this community that
the biggest problems are not with toutists, it's with actual registered
citizens!
Citizens who hide behind tourist mode and give tourists a bad name.
A!!CT world is very good with keeping logs, the world log keeps track of
every dekameter of A!!CT, the bots log the rest, including entery and chat.
I also want to say that I was going to close A!!CT for good, because of TWO
CITIZENS whose names I will not post here, but their names are known.
Now that the PKs are involved hopefully these citizens will either grow up
or leave AW, because they give citizens a bad name! But the tourists are not
the problem! I find most TOURISTS to be polite and curtious, who just want a
little tour of the program.
Please people make them feel welcomed, AW depends on their immigration to
servive.
My point is this, if your anti-aw, instead of ruining it, just leave! Why
waste your time creating AW-TERRORIST groups?
I welcome all questions and comments and suggestions, if nothing else, I
want to help make AW as well as A!!CT the best progam on the web!
Please watch for A!!CT's grand re-opening and keep in mind that as of August
17 2002 A!!CT will be 1 year old, it started out as a 30 day trial world and
was purchased as a P-20 10 user world on September 16 and Heartfall joined
as my OP and host. I just want to say for the most part InSaNiTy and
Heartfall.com has helped to make A!!CT a great world!

Easy... it was just constructive criticism. :) I do agree with you about
tourists only seeing the surface of this program. MrBruce I think is doing
a good job of showing them what's underneath the surface.

That is how people who think negatively would feel like. Rather than looking
at what they can do to help, they just walk away and just say "screw it".
Personally, if that happened to me I would just say "well then I guess I
need to buy a citizenship". AWCom obviously needs to make money and by
allowing tourists to explore and build (even if it isn't permanant), the
tourists get a taste of what ActiveWorlds is like. The tourist ability isn't
there so that people can become tourists and remain that way forever. AWCom
took tourist access from worlds (unless extra is paid) because they felt the
motivation for tourists to get a citizenship wasn't enough.

But you have a point. Being nice to tourists would give them more reason to
stay, but less reason to become a citizen. On the other hand, being
neglective to tourists would give them less reason stay, but more reason to
become a citizen. There's advantages and disadvantages to each of them.
AWCom's view is the cashflow obviously and so in that sense, being
neglective to tourists would probably bring in more money.

Hi all !
I was reading all the great ideas to promote AW with great interest. I feel
AW has a lot of potential and I like it a lot and would love to see AW keep
going far into the future. We can only see that happening if we keep getting
more citizens .
I got to thinking....How did I get here to this point...A citizen of AW and
enjoying it very much ?
Well it all started when a best friend of mine off line ( who shall remain
nameless, but his first initial starts with Ptolemy ) e-mailed me the link
for AW and told me to check it out , that he was really into it and having
a great time with it...so I did check it out.
The next factor of my becoming a citizen was that I was lucky enough to
become a tourist in AW when tourists were still free to roam and build in
almost all of AW. ( although I had the freedom to roam all of AW, I spent
most of my time chumming around with Ptolemy ).
The next factor was that I was able to spend what seemed to be an unlimited
amount of time in AW as a tourist , which in my case was around 5 months
plus or minus before I took the plunge and became a citizen.
In those few months as a tourist and with the help of Ptolemy I got to know
AW pretty well and learned how things worked...all the different features
and how to build. And The more I learned , the more time I would spend in
AW.
Soon I had a little build of my own (which was pretty safe due to the vast
size of the world I decided to build in and it would take some effort to be
found and possibly deleted ) and was making friends with a lot of the people
in AW as well.
So now I had a good understanding how things worked, had a few friends and
had a build to go to. So I became a citizen ....and the rest is history.
I think this setting is what MrBruce is trying to provide to get people to
become citizens.
Worked for me....Hope people become citizens faster than I did though.

Bruce....If we're only only talking about TWO PEOPLE (or one person using
two different cits), then WHY make a HUGE PRODUCTION out of it???? Why not
just simply turn them into AWcom and the PK's and BE DONE WITH IT???

Seems like a no-brainer to me as I'd do the same if it were two people in
Hamsterville acting immaturely. And I imagine Chris would probably do the
same if they were in SW City and Goober would also do undoubtedly do the
same if they were in Goobertown.

I would agree here (especially since AWcom obviously doesn't have the brains
to allow tourists on AW, even WITHOUT building privleges :-( ).

And MY point is this. WHY give them attention by publicly describing what
they supposedly did (even in general, generic detail)??? You're not only
calling attention to yourself Bruce, but you're also giving people the
impression that you run your worlds like Mussolini did in Italy back in the
30s and 40s and Hitler with Germany did during WWII.

You're also giving them EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANTED!!! That is PUBLICITY!!!!

WHY put yourself through all that???

As I said, why not juist simply get AWcom and/or the PKs involved and BE
DONE WITH IT??? This way the administravia is handled in a PROFESSIONAL &
DIGNIFIED manner and YOU don't come off as being the next Mussolini.

Thank you PC hamster, you made a good point. By the way, the problem was
solved, as I stated earlier, the AW Pks were on the case. I have yet to post
that I have reopened A!!CT on Saturday, because many have asked me not to
close it. I like feed-back, comments and suggestions and yours was very
welcomed :-) Life goes on and so does AW. I am a very opened minded person,
if any of you have any suggestions, comments or ideas please feel free to

make my 'main world' A!!CT something everyone can enjoy, tourists included
:-)

Two things, PC:

1. Lay off the caffeine for a while, ok? You're wading very dangerously
into JFK2 territory, if you catch my drift.
2. How does two newsgroup posts constituted "a huge production"? The guy
was just letting everyone know what the deal with his world was. Since
there are quite a few people who regularly visit the place, posting to
the NGs offers the best way to reach the most amount of people.

Oh, and remember my little blurb about you in the Newbie Guide? You know
I was being sarcastic, right? :P
