NAC MY ASS // Communitydmc2uFeb 9, 2002, 10:06am
Greetings & Salutations Fellow AW Citizens,
When I first heard this anounced, I was stunned. I had to ask several times to get JP to clarify what this meant. To me, as a current citizen, thinking when / if I leave AW for whatever reasons my builds, Rain Forrest ( ha ha ) , and Real Estate would be deleted in one fell swoop just would not register in my mind. To think all the time, energy and love put into those build would disapear in one brief moment........Well, the thought was apauling to say the least. Then I read the newsgroup items and started thinking again. ( dangerous ) * veg* I remembered one of the reasons why it was I mailed in my $19.95 for 2 ......yes that's right TWO years of AW citizenship ! It was becaused we were PROMISED ....Citizens...REGISTERED CITIZENS would have the right to DELETE NAC PROPERTY on or about December of 1997. That promise was never honored...for whatever reasons. I propose they HONOR that PROMISE.... and institute that policy NOW...rather than their plan of having it done by a bot. I would not be afraid that ALL my land marked as NAC after I left would be deleted, ( there's just too much of it ) but if a registered citizen came across something they felt they just had to delete or wanted to complete a build of their own, so be it, fair is fair. It would also empower the entire AW Community the ability to clean up some of the garbarge they come across in their travels. Thus saving the GET Team the trouble. * smile * I'm sure there will be a few assholes that have nothing better to do than go around deleting NAC but I can't see anyone doing that for too long without getting bored. Sooooo... What'd ya think ...Is this a plan ? Sincerely Doug Dmc2u - XTeam ATL moff piettFeb 9, 2002, 5:48pm
Sounds like a good plan. Anything that involves the removal of trash made
by dead beat citizens is a-ok by me. sw chrisFeb 9, 2002, 6:22pm
Hey DMC, you have to realize that some of us city owners aren't very fond of
this because our property would get deleted. And most cities are not the crap that you are talking about deleting, they're actually worth keeping around. SW Chris [View Quote] dmc2uFeb 9, 2002, 7:28pm
Chris...
I totally understand that there is much NAC builds that are worth keeping And I believe that could be work for the AWHS. Sites submitted .. and put under the protection of AWHS. But at least my way it would have a chance of remaining indefinately... whereas their way ...POOF ! it's gone !" [View Quote] duskbatFeb 10, 2002, 5:10am
It all comes down to that if SW Chris, DMC2U, or me or whoever left right now
for somereason, rather it death, war, or whatever that more important then aw, and it be a few months and you expire you lose your stuff. All those years of stuff, it kind amakes big hholes int he community. Like taking out half the cities in the world. when you set out do destroy property you dont know what your doing. you dont know what is behind what your deleting. Its a bad move. I am sorry we build so much that it is harming the servers. Why cant everything just stay. if anything Rid property marrked NAc. other then that AWcom promised not to delete / Lol Damn I need to step away from the beer and go to bed Dusk [View Quote] > Good point. :) > > SW Chris > [View Quote] icydeeFeb 12, 2002, 3:05pm
If a citizen has the right to delete NAC property then they could have the right
to adopt it too and thus preserve anything that was worthy by making it there own before it was wiped. My thinking for JP's comments was so that the Garbage Elimination Team could
be a little more lenient when someone wants an object or group of objects deleted. Before, you couldn't even delete a wall because it had too much "structure". Now they could possibly have the authority to delete it if it's just a shabby old shack that someone left behind. Which makes me happier because I've got a stupid mini-town in the middle of my land in SW City that I've been wanting deleted for a long time now. Keep in mind, no confirmation on this yet. Chris.... I was at the meeting.....believe me ... there was no thought given
at all to the GET. Under this new rule....NAC dated before Jan 2 2002 would not be touched. "The way it stands right now. If an existing user lets they citizenship expire, then yes they would fall under the same program as new users who let they citizenship lapse and they woule loose their properties. An already expired user would not be subject to that program as they would not have had any knowledge that their stuff could be lost if they left AW." "no DMC. I said that NAC will not be touched as it would be unfair to delete the property of someone who does not know that if they had let they citizenship expire it could get deleted " My Point is ... When the # at $%$ was I notified that if I remained a citizen after Jan 2, 2002 that sooner or later my property would be deleted ? Existing users were never given the chance to retire their current accounts in order to preserve their property. I think this whole issue should be re - thought because I for one will not be a happy camper if this stays in effect. Cheers Dmc2u [View Quote] moff piettFeb 12, 2002, 11:46pm
An amazing option is to not build in alpha world, then (if the owner was a
fine person) would be able to settle NAC and land claim problems quickly and efficienty. dmc2uFeb 13, 2002, 1:25am

Sad to say ... I believe this affects all AWCOM worlds, not just AW ... but Mars, Yellow, COF meta, etc etc ... [View Quote] moff piettFeb 13, 2002, 4:12am
Alpha world... Mars.. Yello.. COFmeta..
It's like you somehow knew all my most disliked worlds and put them in order of despiseatude (new word!). Actually not quite, would go Yellow, Alpha world, Mars, Cofmeta. But very close! Actually for its age Cofmeta isn't too bad. I'd slip wildaw in before it, although I'm not sure if that counts since it's just alpha world but with no PKs and a bad attitude and a rather wooden gz (pun very much intended). Oh my now my list is totally mixed up... look what you've done now! [View Quote] > sw chrisFeb 13, 2002, 4:21am
JP, you're on my creeps list if you don't do some explaining here... Flagg,
help! Get his attention or something! :( I know he's busy, but this is ridiculous. Are you going to do regular wipes of the worlds databases? If not, then what's this policy for? If so, how are you going to deal with all the unhappy customers? Have you realized that most of your customers would like some advance notice on these decisions so they can have some say in them before they actually go into effect? It's my opinion, and a lot of other folks' opinion around here that doing so will increase consumer confidence in your leadership abilities and perhaps have a hand in saving the company, should it be in danger (as is the belief around here). It's a new leadership model that's rather successful. Take for example Southwest Airlines. The president asked its employees what they wanted to do. Most volunteered to work for free to keep Southwest on its feet. So far, they're the only ones making any substantial progress after Sept. 11. Why did you say this? Why did you not go to the community with this, butg talk with the Peacekeepers about it? Surely you know word would trickle out from that meeting? SW Chris [View Quote] lady judeFeb 13, 2002, 5:11pm
Don't want to start a riot, but did anyone find the no delete on NAC a bit
strange? Wonder if that is cause the owners and their friends have NAC property? If company is trying to be fair, be fair across the board :o) [View Quote] sw chrisFeb 13, 2002, 7:55pm
If I think what I think you're saying, then yes, no deletions period would
be nice, with the exception of greater leniency for the Garbage Elimination Team. :) SW Chris [View Quote] > objects > much if in > SW would. > have making > stunned. would > be would > the > for > CITIZENS > 1997. left > citizen clean to > do long > > |
