AW Ear beta testing (Community)
AW Ear beta testing // CommunityprogrammerAug 14, 2001, 4:37pm
Hi,
I'm currently working on AW Ear and I implemented voice commands. Such as to get genie to popup and enable the chat reading, you'd speak into your microphone "Genie" "Enable". I need people with mic's and who got AW Ear version 1.1 working to help me test. And please remember it's a beta and not everyone can test Thanks, Programmer brandonAug 14, 2001, 5:24pm
well considering it wont even work as it is.....no. When AW is open the
mouth moves and the chat buble comes up but no voice. When i close AW it works [View Quote] ivieAug 14, 2001, 5:39pm
Try turning off AW sounds. That's the only way it will work for me.

Or possibly you didn't install the text-to-speech engine correctly?

chat bubble [View Quote] wingAug 14, 2001, 6:13pm
Probably cheezy sound card, I have no problems with it and AW at the same time.

BTW, I found AW Ear works best with 3.1 So If you are having problems. Make
sure you're running AW 3.1 [View Quote] > Hi, > > I'm currently working on AW Ear and I implemented voice commands. > Such as to get genie to popup and enable the chat reading, you'd speak > into your microphone "Genie" "Enable". Hiya Programmer!
Hey first off I'd like to say, "Nice Work" on the AW Ear prog. It works great and makes for a fun way to interact with AW. I have done a little looking into your prog and I think most ppl are having problems with it not from the programs end but with the sound cards and/or version of AW ppl are using. If I'm corect, if ppl are using AW 2.2 and AW Ear, they will have problems cuz 2.2 doesn't allow for multiple usuage of the sound card. It wasn't till AW 3.1 that they added multiple sound playback. So if AW 2.2 is using the sound card, AW Ear will not be heard (hence shutting off the sound in the browser allows AW Ear to work). Also, the sound card will not work correctly if it doesn't support Full-Duplexing. MS Agent works best on a full-duplexed sound card. This is just an observation but I do believe this is what most ppl (in those situations) are running into when they use AW Ear. Other than that....Kudos to you. Keep up the excellent work. I agree, Cybernome. Another problem people have been having with AW Ear is with
Windows 2000. If you can figure that out, tell me lol. Also thanks for the great comments about AW Ear :-) [View Quote] > Hiya Programmer! > Hey first off I'd like to say, "Nice Work" on the AW Ear prog. Sup programmer!?!
You deserve the praise. Don't know about you but I've been waiting for 3 years for someone to write a text-speech prog for AW. Actually I do know why Windows2000 would have a problem with AW Ear. Since Win2000 is a derivative of the NT kernel, directX won't work as well as it will on Millennium(yuk) or Win95/98. Windows2000 and NT use openGL for its graphics acceleration. Since AW uses directsound for its sound porting (which is part of the DirectX drivers) it will continue to have problems in Win2000 or WinNT. Hope that helps somewhat. 8-) Cybernome ----------------------------------------------------- [View Quote] tyberiusAug 14, 2001, 11:12pm
for some odd reason I can't even get to the page with AWEar to download it
and see what components are needed with it Tyberius [View Quote] programmerAug 14, 2001, 11:16pm
Tyberius,
Try again in maybe like half an hour. Sorry, about that. It's the price I pay for unlimited space... [View Quote] > for some odd reason I can't even get to the page with AWEar to download it > and see what components are needed with it > > Tyberius [View Quote] shredAug 14, 2001, 11:44pm

my eyes are open... am i suuposed to see
everything youre doing on your computer now lol youre problem sounds like you have 2.2 soo i assumed so sue me it sounds like either the engine isnt installed right or your sound card is old... dont remember if u said what sound card u had or not... [View Quote] sw chrisAug 15, 2001, 5:21pm
I've noticed that having sounds turned on and having AW Ear usually work for
those that have Creative sound cards, but not for anyone who has any other sound card. SW Chris [View Quote] |
