The point is not wether I want to go or not, it's the way this was
advertised. It's off-topic. SM uses the AW technology, but this does NOT
mean the AW-universe community newsgroup is the right place to post about
SM community happenings. In my eyes this was advertising, although I
guess the level of advertising could be discussed. Wether it was off-
topic or not, though, seems pretty clear to me.

It uses the same technology, but it's not the same product. You have to
think a bit differently when it comes to this; what is really the
"product" in AW? It's really a number of things, including the community
you get access to (IMHO). Sure, the software is pretty independent of the
actual universe, even completely compatible; you do not access the same
product if you change universe server, though.

This is a forum related to AW, as in the Active Worlds universe, not the
Active Worlds technology. It doesn't take a great sense of logic to
understand that given that you need to be an AW citizen to gain posting
rights.

It doesn't piss me off, it just annoys me, so I thought I would like to
point it out. My original reply took me a few seconds to write.
Unfortunately, some people that thought it was okay for users from other
universes to come in here and advertise their events, so I started
argumenting my position.

I do actually read busy newsgroups on USENET. I don't "analyze ever[y]
single post and compare all [posts] to my sense of right or wrong". If
someone did post a picture of a motorcycle in a car picture group, I
might reply stating it was off-topic and referring the poster to an MC
related group. Don't count on it though, the USENET trolls would probably
have devoured the person long before I got to read the article...

I was in dirtcity last week sometime. It's an okay looking world, just too
bad they violate a whole bunch of copyrights and trademarks (The Matrix,

The whole TCPA thing is likely to flop if you ask me. It's not a law
anyway, just a business alliance thing. Maybe we'll see some TCPA-

it'll ever become a success.

That's a pretty standard flag protocol. Of course, you usually don't go and
burn your flag if you accidentally drop it or something, it's if a flag is
deterioated. Don't know how many people follow their country's flag
protocol, though.

I don't think that's true. Here in Norway we still respect our flag a lot.
We don't have quite such an intricate flag protocol as in the US (at least
not in current use), but most citizens know the basic rules. Never let the
flag touch the ground, the flag should be taken up at 8/9 AM (can't
remember anymore) or whenever it's reasonably light outside (winter), taken
down at 9PM at the latest, earlier if sunset occurs before 9PM (winter).

Open letter: To m a t t or whoever

Nov 30, 2003, 11:57am
This is an open letter, because the little loser doesn't dare to include a
proper reply address. Sorry folks, just skip this message.

--

To whoever sent me some lame mail last night with some AWNews article links
in it and said he bites my ass when I least expect it:

Firstly, why don't you use real headers instead of sending me mails with
stupid from headers like "borntobe at evil.com" or useless repy-to's such as
"anonymous at m1.netfirms.com? Then I could reply to you personaly, instead of
having to post on the NGs. Don't worry, I won't report you to your ISP, I'm
not going to waste time doing so.

I suppose the reason you sent that mail to me and JerMe was that we've been
explaining how you're such a stupid loser, unable to do any of what you say
you're going to do. You give us links to a couple of old AWN articles on
citizenship theft. The only problem, my friend, is that those articles
illustrate our very point! You can't steal/hack any citizenships the proper
way, you can only set up scams and get people to hand their details to you.
It worked the first time, but I really doubt it will work if you try it
again, especially now that you've been running around creating hysteria.

Instead of trying to be some |_3Et |-|/-\Xx0r, why don't you go and play on
a highway or something?

in many other worlds, like AWNewbie, AWTeen, Pata, etc. To be able to post
here is a *privilege* only available to registered citizens. Others can
post in public newsgroups like andras.net and kahnews.cjb.net. It does cost
money to run a news-server (especially this one since they keep all the
messages), you know. Nobody's being opressed or trampled upon, take a chill

Name one person that's been opressed and trampled on. And don't forget to
say *why*. I doubt you'll actually manage to find one that's been truly
trampled upon (in the correct meaning of the word, not your obviously very
loose definition) because tourists can't enter AW and can't post here. I'll
listen to your perception, and I'll try to understand it, but then tell me
