People needed to tear something apart

Oct 12, 2001, 10:33pm
I have not checked the entire site, but it seems that the script or table coding
(at least on the home page) is not supported by Netscape 4.7 (yes, I know it
might be outdated to people who upgrade software 3-4 times a year, which I don't
- , but NS 4.7 is just one year and something old, and their best browser, so
I'd assume that I'm not the only one still using it occationally). Just made me
wonder whether you have tested the site on different browsers/versions? It
worked on Opera though...:)

Else, looks great:)

People needed to tear something apart

Oct 13, 2001, 12:02pm
The problem is only concerning the layout I think, meaning the page will not be
seen like you intended, but if all the contents are included this might not be a
major problem to the viewer. I think ppl will understand it's a scripting
problem, and either scroll horizontical or open the page in another browser. But
if certain content is not showing on NS (or any other browser) you could at
least say so in a buttom line/disclaimer or something, or ppl might miss out
some info...

I've been doing some javascripting myself lately, and several commands appears
different on either NS or IE, but there's normally a way around the problems.
The AWTeen site's problem seems to be with the table settings, but to solve it
you will need to experiment by opening the page in both browsers. Whenever I
solve such a conflict it's by experimenting and pure luck, and not because I
know how to fix it before I try...:) While testing table settings adding
border=1 will make it easier for you to see how the adjusted codes will effect
the layout.

Editors are great tools, but when it comes to having control over the html tags
and layout, there's no better way than plain html coding in note-pad:)

AW ComReg's website taking a break

Nov 28, 2001, 11:36pm
Hi all,

Well, we are definitely not on vacation, but it might look like it,
especially if you are eagerly waiting for your community
registration/adjustment to get added to the web register. We are
currently preparing for several new features on AW ComReg's web,
including a total rebuild of the script (not the layout), and because of
this there are no updates to the register this week. So, if you
registered a new community or submitted adjustments over the past week+,
your contribution will not take effect untill ... uhm... some time next
week (I hope it's all ready by then:). Sorry for the delay.

All current features can still be used as normal, though, at least
through out this week. If part of the site needs to be closed for a few
days, it will be stated on the main page.

Just to say that ComReg's site is back up. Latest added/adjusted
registrations are now linked from the main page. And there's another new
feature to be added later this week:)

New feature at ComReg!

Dec 11, 2001, 8:24pm
Hi all,

Today ComReg's new service to the community is up & running; the new
Anniversaries Calendar!

Keep track on upcoming anniversaries (communities only, not
individuals), and make sure your community is listed there as well. To
get listed, your world, town or society must be registered with ComReg,
must be renewed/veriefied less than 6 months ago, your community's
Foundation Day must be exact with year, month and date - and of course,
it needs to be at least 1 year old.

Next Anniversary can always be found on ComReg's main page. For the
following, you will need to check out the calendar. Oh, and our calendar
must not be mixed up with AWEC's calendar of events. ComReg will not
advertise events, only the dates to be celebrated. So remember to check
out AWEC as well:)

There's no longer a good excuse for missing a party!:) (oops, guess that
counts for me as well, uh...:)

End of the Worlds

Jan 3, 2002, 8:34am
Well, didn't everyone predict more or less the same back in 1997 when the
charging started?:) I don't think that the charging changed AW in a negative
way, it just "trimmed" AW's user base a little bit, as a higher percentage
of the user became active and caring.

This might give a positive effect on AW's community once again, although I
do expect the new annual charge to make many of my AW friends to find
something else to do, cause the raise is pretty heavy.

I'm sure AW will survive though, I just hope the community will still be a
part of it, and not that in the future the majority of the users will run
their own worlds because in order to get most in return for the charging. To
me AW is very special because of the interactivity and great community
(surprise!:).

Pink Village 5 years old today!

Jan 30, 2002, 11:55pm
Hi all,

To anyone who is, or ever was, involvd with Pink Village in AlphaWorld;
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!:) Today, January 30th, it's exactly 5 years since
Pink Village was founded:) Periodically the town has been rather quiet,
but in fact we have got several new residents monthly during most of
this time.

We'll celebrate this Saturday Feb/2nd, 16.00-23.00 (4-11PM) VRT. The
detailed programme will be posted on our web page this Thursday.

If you ever have been wandering about in PV, you will know there are
many locations and builds that are great, charming, or simply full of
memories from past events. The Gallerie 2222 will open a joint
exhibition this Saturday at 17.00 VRT, "My PV", showing contributors'
favourite screenshots taken in Pink Village. The motiv can be a scenary,
or a detail. A memory from any event, or your own humble home. If you
feel sort of involved, you are welcome to contribute even if you are a
non-registered Pink Villager. Deadline is Feb 1st at noon VRT.

Please read more if interested: www.geocities.com/pinkvillage

Thank you!:)

AW Info Squares closed today

Jun 23, 2002, 9:47am
Hi all,

I'm sorry to announce that the AW Info Squares have been closed down
today, due to lack of orders (+ lack of time for maintaining them). AWIS
goes on though, with Adz at GZ Network as the only service. This will not
effect the current Adz at GZ Network memberships.

The squares are still chained by teleporters, but the ground
owners/towns should feel free to use those locations for something
better, or even to run their own local info square:)

Communities or heavy frequented locations are welcome to join the Adz at GZ
Network, to have their ads displayed on numerous GZ's instead, which I
also think is more efficient for all (including me:)

Closing this service after 5 moe or less busy years feels quite bad, but
I'm sure it's the right thing to do. AW Info Squares opened April 1997,
and I have no idea of how many ads have been displayed all these years.
Thanx to all who appreciated the service:)
