The plot thickens...
I was able to find the 2 DLL that Dean pointed to, created the DIRs required, DLed them to it and transferred the 'util' into it... AND it extracted great... Up till the time it completed the extraction... Then it would seem that it DELed all the files again... It appears that it didn't find something on my C: that it was looking for(?)... Like a 'bought' copy of Office(?)... altho' there's not mention that it's required, just that it's included on the CD... So... I guess unless there's some way to get all the extracted files (zipped up nicely) from a temp DIR (hint, hint :-) ) I'l be looking elsewhere... There has to be others out there somewhere that don't require one to jump thru' hoops... I think it's time for a 'search' of the Net... Thanx anyway... [View Quote] > Ok, I got it and installed it. I'm still more then interested in checking this Util out but does anyone have
anything else that may work. I know I'v seem some programs over the years but it wasn't a priority at the time... Naming CoordinatesApr 30, 1998, 2:04pm
To expand on this it would be nice to be able to register a location (ASSUMING
YOU ARE THE LEGITIMATE BUILDER OF THE LOCATION) and whenever a person 'hits' the co-ords something like: 'Welcome to Tyrell's Learning Centre' would display in the 'bar instead of just the location co-ords... Sort of like a greeting... Ya... Would require yet more work on Ronald's part but would be very trendy... (I hear Roland's got far too much spare time on his hands these days... shouldn't take long at all :-) ) [View Quote] > Hi. Ha... the 'warping of objects' is an old one... I believe the problem
(assuming one thinks of it as such) would be 'turf wars' were 20 or 30 Citizens stand around all day and lob 'toilets.rwx's onto Beep's Property... Hmmm... now that I think of it... never mind... Hmmm... There already is a detachable Web Page option... You get it by closing

(error) reason 204 is about as useless to those using the Browser as nothing at all... I can only assume that COF believes that we Citizens would rather not have a 'plain english' explanation of the problem. Like, I'd much rather spend hours trying to track down a problem then be told up front I have (possibly) a corrupt cache or HD problem (or you'r building faster then you can refresh to the Server, whatever)... NOT... :-) If they can have a window pop-up with an 'error number' then they can certainly tack on a possible reason for the error... Come on COF... Even Billy Gates has admitted that 'error numbers' do nothing for the Users of the Software... (and coming from the master himself - Mouse not detected, click OK to continue - is quite something...) Ya... One could start by cleaning out all the Sound Files... If one has sound
turned off (as I do) it's a complete waste of space anyway... Loosing some texture/objects while keeping (later) sound files makes no sence at all... My 2 cents... Star light, star bright... I wish we may have night every night :)May 24, 1998, 3:34am
Just wondering... How would COF forcing us to use DayTime all the time be any
different then a World Owner forcing Nite on us...??? What we need it a Citizen toggle... Keep it DAY or NITE or have it change based on VRT or local time... One needs only cache two backgrounds instead of one (and as we re-cache pretty well everytime one turns around who would notice) then we'd be all set... [View Quote] > Interesting, however I can see where people would not like it if a world > owner 'forced' them to use a night backdrop when it was still light by > them - i.e. the world owner lives in Florida, you live in Maine, it's > summer, and it's 10pm - in Florida it's well dark (usually) by then, but > in Maine it's still dusky. Also a conflict may come in if those Aussie's > or Europeans say 'it's noon here, yet AW is still using a night > backdrop!'... at least VRT is a bit more of a compromise, and so basing > it on VRT would be nice (like I said in beta), as would basing it on > local time. > [View Quote] -- Tyrell - Alpha Prime - 21.8s 457e 90 - "Mundus vult decipi" "No matter where you go...there you are." http://www.dlcwest.com/~rpatter/index.html ICQ UN - 272905 All those who believe in psychokinesis raise my hand. Oh... I can see a place for the World Owner having a setting - no matter what
(s)he wishes it to be by default... BUT it should still be an option for anyone visiting the world to be able to switch it to how 'they' would like to see the world... I don't personally like the 'bite' Day background. I'd lock myself to nite sky... If the World Owner wants it to default to day then it would be day if the person visiting didn't have a pref. selected... This would provide everyone with a choice and wouldn't take any time at all to code in... (we'v already got a default (day) background... just a few lines more directing the Browser to the 'nite background' if the 'box' is clicked... this is not rocket science...) IF COF doesn't see fit to add this feature in the very near future someone should take it upon themselves to do a 'clunk'... A wee util that would search out the '.../texture ' whenever a new world is entered and quickly dump a 'nite sky' into the newly created DIR, then write protect the file so the one caching doesn't overwrite it... problem solve (altho' not very elegant...) [View Quote] > Hmmm. Okay, so perhaps the world owner could set it to be based on the > server's clock, the browser's clock, VRT (acording to the browser I > suppose), or user selectable.
