We need an invite day this year, where everyone invites people they think
may be interested in ActiveWorlds (and wont think its spam).

What do you think?
I think AW need to update their 'Invite a Friend' script, as it seems a
bit - old. AW has tons of new images that can go in an invite email.

Let me know what you guys think and I'll set the dates :D

Invitation of Annual Invite Day!

Hello, Everyone!
This year will be the first Annual Invite Day of
ActiveWorlds.
Happening on the 1st of June, 2005, Myself and SupportAW (www.supportaw.com)
ask you to join in with A.I.D. (Annual Invite Day) to help 'Aid
ActiveWorlds'.

We All, hopefully, know the story of when AW's User Count, and reputation,
was sunken wrongly due to the Increase in Price, other Virtual Universes,
and
different Programs came on the horizon. ActiveWorlds was given a bad name,
when, infact, nobody even thought to think that ActiveWorlds is, infact a
great program, with great people. This is where the 1st of June comes in.

We wish, for the ActiveWorlds community (Citizens AND Tourists), on the 1st
of June 2005, to invite to AW their friends and family. And let them know,
what a great Community ActiveWorlds really is, and of course, how fun it is
too!

For A.I.D., we will be using the Invite Form from SupportAW.com, which will
be up shortly.


Please stay tuned to AWNews.org and SupportAW.com for further details
including URL's to the invite area on or around the 20th of May. I would
like to take this time to thank SupportAW for helping make this project more
Do-able.

Annual Invite Day is getting closer for the Citizens and Tourists of
ActiveWorlds to invite their friends and family to ActiveWorlds o­n June
1st, 2005.

SupportAW and Myself give you the following tips o­n how to make your
invites run as smoothly as possible for A.I.D.

1). Choose who to invite carefully, avoid people who will think the invite
is spam.

2). If you think the person(s) you are inviting will think they are
receiving spam (or have filters so they o­nly receive mail from known email
addresses) simply invite them yourself via emailing them. Remember to
include in the email that it's Annual Invite Day in ActiveWorlds. You may
wish to 'forward' a copy of the Invite Email, if you wish them to see it
sent from 'yourself' and not SupportAW.com, by inviting yourself, and
forwarding the email to them (see 3).

3). For June 1st, SupportAW.com has provided the Invite form, available at
the following address:

When sent, the invite form includes all information the people you are
inviting will need to know, including the ActiveWorlds site address, and
that it's Annual Invite Day.

4). o­n Annual Invite Day, please try and be in AWGate when your friends and
or family arrive o­nline, maybe send them an email asking when they will be
o­nline, so you can give them a great idea of ActiveWorlds. But it's okay if
you can't be, because the great AW Community and GateKeepers can help anyway
to the best of their abilities.

5). It is suggested that you use the invite form just before June 1st, to
allow time for email delivery and for the person(s) to check their email
address.

6). Have fun! ActiveWorlds Invite Day is to bring the ActiveWorlds Community
together, and to bring even more visitors and citizens to join the
community.

Ok heres the story...


Purchased a World... downloaded World Server:

World is running, however I can't get in... It just says 'Finding <My
World>'

I logged into AW as a tourist, and it just bounced back (you cant enter)...

So, Ive turned my firewalls off (UNINSTALLED WINDOWS SP2!!!!), and it
still wont work. Its not bouncing me back when I enter, as I have enter
rights, as I'm the caretaker, so I think my computer may just be stuborn and
won't let any internet data go thru (ActiveWorlds Browser to the World
Server).

Also, The server was on my mashine, and so is the browser.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
I've hosted Worlds and owned my own before, so I don't know why this isnt
working :(
If you need more info, dont hesitate to reply.

I stopped hosting months back.

a) I cant get into the world to change the rights (Im only allowed to enter
cause im caretaker.

b) No, tourists arnt allowed, but I was checking if it would bounce others
back.

So the resolve: People who arnt caretaker (me) are being bounced. When I
try to enter, it dosent bounce, however I dont get into the world, it simply
says 'Finding World'.

So obviously my computer, since I got a new one, is in some way not letting
connections in.

Ive reset the AW . Ini and at startup, selected: Through a LAN. (It was
already selected, i think before)

Anyway, as TheMask is now hosting the world, its working, so I might leave
it for a while lol.

Would you like to elaborate on which kids you are talking about?
I'm a 15 year old teenager. I work full time, and am entering a
traineeship for Barista' ism at the end of the year.
I own a World, Have a great circle of friends in AW. Help out with AWNews,
SupportAW, a DJ for AWRadio and, Supporting the new CYAwards.

You've offended me, and no doubt many other under 18's, by saying what your
saying. Yes I know, there are complete pillocks in AW that are under 18,
but, thats probrably only 10% of the under 18's that are genuine 'Pillocks'.

Now, if you ask me, you are acting quiet STUCK UP by saying this. Most
"kids" are very Friendly, ***PRODUCTIVE***, and very nice to be with in AW.
So, you need to accept the fact, that, 15 Year Olds will be involved deeply
in the CYAwards this year, and next, next, and for a long time. Becuase
we're the future of AW.
And if you don't like even the SOUND of 16 or 17 year olds running the
Technical Side and the Interaction side of the CY's, run for your life.

Personally, if your complaining about "KIDS" in AW being "A bunch of
assholes", which there are very very few of, then maybe you should set an
example. Maybe you should also, accept AWGate isn't all yours and isnt just
a home for the 40+ people.

Hi,
I am in ActiveWorlds 24/7. When I'm AFK (For about 6 or 10 hours at a time)
I find my contact list isnt updated, so I have to select Login drop down
menu and Login, and then it updates. I just wondered if this was a bug or
simply happens all the time
