I said nothing about actually using 3D animation to shoot the scenes, but using the concept as a premise for the technology which made possible the holodeck (which would not be called the holodeck in such a case). What would be the point in using something that would look like 3D animation instead of fulfilling the effect of creating an imaginary world with no discernible differences from reality? Hence, the use of real actors and actresses. --------------5ED341E25E1481E67753FBE9 Content-Type: text/html; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit <!doctype html public "-//w3c//dtd html 4.0 transitional//en"> <html> <body bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> [View Quote] <p><br>That was not my point. Wow, what a change from a few years ago!!!! I suggests the exact same thing
about 2 and a half years ago and nobody liked it at all. I got so many negative replies that I felt like crawling into a hole and hiding for even suggesting it. Yes, I think it is an awesome idea!!! Bring it on, Roland. [View Quote] > It shouldn't be too hard, I think... And I love the idea! (c: > [View Quote] URL'sJan 26, 1999, 11:06am

If you are worried about uploading, find a different web page provider.
There are dozens of free ones and many of them have online editors so you don't have to even bother uploading the page after making changes, unless you are adding a new image or other file, of course. A good review of free web page providers is at: http://www.digiweb.com/~maxlee/FWPReview/ [View Quote] [View Quote] better audio mixingJan 26, 1999, 11:04am

My main point was that there are many, many, many web page provider services out there and many of them have ONLINE editors where re-uploading html pages is unnecessary and a waste of time. > And more important: if > you re-upload it with every update the version numbers would rruuunnn up! I don't understand your fixation with versions. It is a web page, not a program. It is unnecessary to number the lists. Just add an ID number to each wish on the list and allow people to track the progress of the list as it is revised. Besides, new versions would make old versions obsolete, so why keep the old versions around for reference? better audio mixingJan 27, 1999, 3:32pm
But, why bother with "versions"?
Just make one list and change it when necessary. Chances are that no one will bother keeping up with what version is out, anyway. [View Quote] > Um, for *me* uploading isn't a problem. I am sure (?) that Eep knows that, but the problem here is that Rolu is treating an HTML list as though it were a program rather
than a list that can be revised with out having to release a new "version" [View Quote] > Would you rather be forced to upgrade your software every few hours, Eep? Good suggestion!!! However, you might want to get in line. That has
been a suggestion for quite a while now. Hopefully, if the new company is good on their word, they might hire some new programmers to put in some of those frills we have been demanding. Where is the address of the AWFWL? When I use my bookmark, it gives me
a 404 message. Have you moved it? [View Quote] > Part 1.1 Type: Plain Text (text/plain) > Encoding: quoted-printable Re: The AW FWWL v2 is out!Jan 31, 1999, 1:53pm
How about a BUILD NOTES button???Feb 5, 1999, 9:47pm
Why do you open Outlook express just to read Roland's release notes?
Just open the web page version to read it. [View Quote] > Part 1.1.1.1 Type: Plain Text (text/plain) > Encoding: quoted-printable > > Name: Andon13.vcf > Andon13.vcf Type: VCard (text/x-vcard) > Encoding: quoted-printable old "wishes" for Rolu's listFeb 7, 1999, 5:56pm
I have a wish that I almost did not want to post because I thought it
might be redundant given the fact that we have an animate command already. The wish I have is a command will alternate the name of the object, thus causing the object to change into something else. This could be handy because you would not have to have understanding of SDK or bots. Also, it would prevent the BI from showing up anymore because all the objects not being used will not actually be there, unlike with the visible off command where it is still occupying the same space, but is just "off". The animations could be far more complex than they are currently. [View Quote] > will take a look > [View Quote] old "wishes" for Rolu's listFeb 7, 1999, 5:57pm

Sorry for the double post, but I kept getting an error each time I would try
to send it. Why not use OpenGL instead of direct 3d, or have better Direct3D supportMar 3, 1999, 10:08pm
Maybe, if they ever get another programmer, more attention could be placed
on this task. I saw a page on their web site advertising programming positions. [View Quote] Rjinswand [View Quote] MONEYJul 22, 1999, 8:02pm

[My news reader will not allow me to post a reply to the thread, so I am
forced to start another thread.] A local group of college kids made a game called Triopoly based on Monopoly and have made quite a success at it.... I think it is much, much better than monopoly I am glad that my wish was granted after so long, but at the beginning I suggested that the game be taylored around AW, rather than the traditional Monopoly board game. This would give you a legal edge, because there are many Monopoly look alikes that Hasbro has been unable to prevent their being marketed. Please give my idea some thought...I think an original spin to the old game will be fun and refreshing. Re: awmonopoly has been shut downMay 10, 2000, 10:28am
Curiosity...Jun 5, 2000, 9:35pm
That is what I was going to say in my reply.
Also, whoever bought them out would probably have the capital and resources to advance it much faster. Nothing personal to Roland, but one programmer can only work so fast. [View Quote] Custom Monopoly BoardJun 29, 2000, 8:27pm
I have the new Monopoly CD-ROM game with custom gameboard editor. I am
making an AW custom board for my own use and for trading with other Monopoly users. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for good locations or worlds. I prefer classic AW sites and well known and well established communities and locations. Any help will be appreciated. However, I cannot guarantee that all suggestions will be accepted because my own personal tastes and biases will rule in the end. So far, I have screenshots of Colony Alpha, AWGate, Metatropolis, Atlantis, Mars, and Yellowstone. |
