Anyone know a way around Microsofts little greed trip with XP?
This is horrable!
I can't install XP on my server PC.
I installed it on the PC i use for evrything just to get it updated.
Now any other PC I install it on gets a 30 day trial only, then microsoft
says you muct buy another copy of XP for each PC to contune to use it on
thouse PC.
No wonder Bill Gates is rish, hes ripping us all off!
Sorry Bill Gates, but I don't have a job like yours that pays enough to go
out and buy an OS for each PC.
AW make the 4.1 world server run on 98 SE please.
Its just a server, it don't need all the latest techology to run, that is
the browsers job.

I have never had to so anything like this before.
I see "through scan disk" there is uninstall information, but I do not know
how to run it or where it is located.
I need this info fast, casue in 30 days, my server PC will no longer work
thanks to Bill Gates.

So now what do I do?
The univerce my world is in will be getting 4.1 this weekend.
I refuse to buy a 2nd copy of Windows XP just for 1 program.

I know how to formate and put 98 back on.
I installed XP on my normal useage PC about 3 months ago.
When I tried to update my server PC to XP with the same CD, it installed a
30 day trial and told me to buy a more copies of the XP for all PC's I have.
This is where I say this is wrong and compleatly illigal and unfair.
If something ever happoned to that PC that you put XP on and youhad to
reformat your drive or worse had to get a new drive and start over again.
You will not be able to install the full version of XP untill you go out and
buy a nother copy of it.
I was never given a number to call.
What I am saying is what can I do now to host my world again after this
weekend when the uni the world is in goes 4.1?
Without XP , I wont be able to host it.
You can't buy windows Me, 2000, or NT anymore.
And I know nothing about the Linus operating system.

CoLor,
To enter active worlds 4.1 you must be running a NT based system. like NT,
2000, or XP.
all other windows OS's can't enter it.
I resently upgraded to XP due to this.
I was on 98 se before and it coudl not enter.

Thats the first thing i noticed about XP. no blue screen of deaths.
I also love the system restore feature just incase you mess sosmething up
you can rewind your system to a earlyer date and time before the problem was
created.
I also love that remote assistance feature.

I don't know.
When I tallied the total for mine.
I bought all the parts myself never ordered any of if and put it togeather
myself and still the price was a little over $2,000 when i was done.
windows xp $100
My mother board cost a little over $100
My sound card cost a little over $200
My video card cost a little over $400
My cpu cost around $800
My 60 gig hard drive cost a little over $100
I wish i knew where these cheaper parts are at that are actuly worth buying.
You have a web site where you got all that from?

"Whoever it was that said their computer cost $2000, you got ripped."
That was me and the prices i listed are true and i did not get ripped off
becasue everywhre i looked the prices for the parts where in the same price
range.
The cpu i went for was
3 ghz amd athalon
the video card i went for was
RADEON 9800 XT 256MB
the sound card i went for was
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro
And yes, the 60 gig drive was a little over 100 bucks, when i got that way
back in 2003
Note, i got all these when they came out.

Upgradeing to XP will also make your computer run better and smoother.
Ever since I upgraded to XP, I never had any blue screen errors at all.
It's like XP fixed evry problem 98, 98SE, and ME had in them.
I still have 98 SE on my other pc and it had nothing on it, just 98 SE and
what's funny is, it got a blue screen error and nothing was on it but the
OS.
It was just idleing, so the OS caused it's own problem without the help of
the human error factor lol

You can install an XP on your laptop is you want.
You just have to meet the system requierments for the OS.
XP Home is a little about $100 USD
XP Pro is about $200 USD
Here are the requierments for XP Home.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/upgrading/sysreqs.mspx
Here are the requierments for XP Professional.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/upgrading/sysreqs.mspx
Before you upgrade to it though, you should run the system check program to
see what things on your laptop are not compatable with XP.
Here is the system checker for XP Home.

Here is the system checker for XP Professional.

When I installed XP, it took about 2 hours.
And that was with nothing running but the old OS.
Not sure why it took that long, 98 and 98 SE only took about 30 min when I
installed them all them years ago.
