no it's not done. A server allowing porn can still be linked up.

People checked out the porn and still did nothing. Even when they did have
the time to remove it, they didn't do a damn thing.
I emailed ONLY once to the server that held the pic, and they removed it.
They then closed the account. InactiveWorlds did nothing

And that is not what I said. You do an inventory every so often to insure
your area is clean. I do it with my area and it's not a hard thing to do.
You don't leave it for someone else to clean up.

Well, you misread the backdrop issue if that is what you think I as
addressing, so why should this be any different.
This porn issue really isn't for you to deal with anyways as I see it.
Peacekeepers are the closest prominent entities to represent Active Worlds I
have seen when visiting worlds. The rest are either citizens or teachers
who I think would be a great asset in this, but it is the peacekeepers who
have a PK office area near GZ in AW world. They are the ones who could and
should be dealing with this, not you unles YOU want to show us that you
should be the one to do the removing entity. No emails, no forms, no
websites. A real live person dealing with Porn and removing it. If one
person can't do it alone, you get others to help. But you take action
instead of saying you didn't receive anything and therefore exonerate
yourself from reasonable action that should have been done before any email
was sent.
My suggestion, put a "Facter" help section there near GZ so that you can be
addressed if you want to be the one to remove porn. To post here indicating
to me that an email address is all that was needed doesn't show any action
within the Active Worlds program that you are actually removing porn now.
Displaying action outside of this Newsgroup, and in the Active Worlds
program like I mentioned here would indicate to others like myself that you
are serious about your intent behing saying an email wasn't sent because.
If we saw you doing the removing of porn, we wouldn't be emailing. We would
just come to you in there and ask you to check it out. You could then go
see it, then remove it.
I did email, and I did try. There server outside of AW listened and removed
the pictures, Active Worlds didn't.

"And, you have agreed to the license when using the software, so you know
the inherant risks and that we are under no liability if you do discover
such material within the software."
It is possible and if you want to work out a system that can do it, I can
propose ways. Let's talk.
If you want to stand by that quote and do nothing, you are not legally
obligated to. My opinion is you should "feel" obligated because it is the
right thing to do, and it isn't that hard.
Chances are objects dated before 1999 are not going to be changed, once they
are changed, they are dated 2001. So many of the objects if looked at would
only need to be recent, that doesn't mean all.

If people are forced to know GET before they report porn, then you are
subject to porn in AW which is what the GET area is supposed to stop. If

They pass the buck around until someone with the control can do something
according to their subjective criteria. Until then, emails aren't addressed,
and the citizen's interests aren't even questioned.
A $20 citizen account can only get them so far.
Where is the founder of this AW? Did he intend for it to be so fucked up?

That is a good way to pass the buck, you are number 3, search this NG for
the other 2.
Thank you for showing your inactiveness here at inactiveworlds.
Also note, people build within AW, so you wouldn't have to check all of it.
Each person checks their area.
Bite size pieces, why can't you people conceptualize that.

And you are wrong if you expect me to believe your story. I notified all I
could at the time about this before going to the server that held the porn.
And frankly, I don't care about coming to Active Worlds again about this
type of problem unless the server that holds the porn keeps it there. It's
too much trouble. You people don't act on your words, and if you are taking
full responsibilty for not deleting the porn in the first place, then I know
who to complain about when the chance comes to file a report to Active
Worlds's representives interested in listening to my side of the story.
Til then, this is all bullshit and ka ka. I was witness to your inaction
then and another servers Action.

It's got the porn removed so far. I am not saying adults can't view porn.
Make an adult section where adults can. I'll help you supply the porn if
you want. Just don't give kids the access to it. When you know a kid can
get to it, report that like facter as posted in the most recent thread so
far. See if he or someone else at AW really does take action.
This person who posted the porn, if posted in a proper area would still have
the account there probably because I for one would not have gone to the
extremes to tell others.
I found it in a bad spot so I told others. The server holding the files
concurred and closed the account. It's in the best interest of those that
want porn in an adult section to set up an acceptable spot with Active
Worlds, or else their builds may be altered in a similar manner as I was
able to effect them.
So far, Active Worlds has not given me any objection as to the actions I
took by notifying them and the server holding the porn.

I have a different way of handling things. Either give me the authority to
remove it myself or don't give me anything. I don't play these report
games. If there is porn in an unacceptable area, it must be DESTROYED LOL,
well you get my idea. I do not expect someone to find a form on the
internet in order for me to delete it.
If I had the power, all they would have to do is tell me where it is, and
one look I would know. If it was questionable, then it can be copied and
put back. All we are talking about is 2 stinking picture files. It's not
like there were alot of them there, and this was obvious porn which should
be removed. The server holding the porn concurred and closed the entire
account.

read the posts, I am tired of repeating myself. Another server that does
accept porn might be linked here, and then what? If Active Worlds does
nothing, then it won't be removed. I consider myseld lucky to have the
other server that I notified agree with me. That doesn't mean it will
always happen.
So, if Active Worlds removes the porn, then I know it is safe here.

Well well well.
After 2 months of trying to get the word out, someone has finally stepped up
to the plate and done something to initiate the removal of porn. Thank you
facter. Let's bring this to fruition. I will email you soon regarding the
person who put up the porn in Active Worlds so you can better monitor their
builds for further occurances of porn.

LOL, porn is not available to children when they walk into a
convenience/party/(24/7)store or gas station, just like cigarettes and
alcohol are not sold to them.
It's just a matter of time before the internet will abide by the same
decorum. Til then, I am more than happy to help people (especially
activeworlds and http://www.gcn.cx) bring the level of content on the
internet to a stage where the environment is safer.

Just In, that is way too involved man.
I see many peacekeepers, and the only problem is that they don't do anything
about the porn. You don't need forms to be filled out. You need
Peacekeepers or someone to just look at the porn and remove it. NO FORMS,
NO EMAILS, NO PHONE NUMBERS, just a simple look and delete of the porn.
If people are worried their build will be destroyed, then they should think
twice about putting up pictures of naked people. This is not a democracy,
this is a group called activeworlds, and they have full right to delete
anything they want. Your organization GET is an attempt to help them, but
it doesn't replace their authority.
If Fletch represents AW and can come delete porn, then he should be the one
along with any assistants doing the deleting. There should be a place for
us at Ground Zero to contact him regarding this. If he uses GET as a means,
then great. However, put up a sign "REPORT PORN HERE" then. Make is
somewhat conspicuous. Right now, there is no way of knowing about GET.
Waiting for someone to find your form on the internet is not going to work
unless someone knows the address. If they go to Ground Zero and see a sign
for it right there, then they can do something about it. Right now, people
have to know there is an address by whatever psychic means are necessary and
that is rediculous.
