With the new snow terrain, in all its wonders, makes it easier to see
another big problem in Alphaworld. There are tons of cracks between objects made recently. what is going on? these cracks are too small to be fixed with a ctrl+shift centimeter click. Did someone screw up something in the active worlds software? Cracks between objectsDec 14, 2003, 5:59am
well, the strange thing is, most walks and objects built in SW City (started
sometime in 1999 or something?) are all aligned, but all newer objects made since 2002 have lots of cracks. I can still build in SW City without any seam problems at all, is this because the first object made in SW City was before the floating point system got screwed up? [View Quote] Increase AlphaWorld's cell limitDec 14, 2003, 5:51am
People's computers aren't ancient anymore, and it doesn't look like people
are suffering in AWTeen due to their large cell limit (and they have all those high-poly custom objects, so if AW had a large cell limit, it would be a lot less laggy than AWTeen). Give AlphaWorld a large cell limit. Increase AlphaWorld's cell limitDec 16, 2003, 4:46am
So, what about AW's cell limit? It's what.. a 70% increase on the number of
bytes allowed per cell, and how many people have we lost after the price hikes? I think it will even out (since people will still be building the same number of objects per day, with a cell limit restriction or not) anyway, alphaworld is the flagship world of active worlds, they should improve the database if it is too fragile to handle a large cell limit. All it would do at most is just.. add twice as many objects per year? Surely that can be dealt with.. Increase AlphaWorld's cell limitDec 16, 2003, 8:34pm
how does this all relate to AW's cell limit? the database needs to be
updated.. or something needs to be updated, so that AW can have a large cell limit with no problems at all [View Quote] awgate ejectionsDec 14, 2003, 6:49pm
NelXaga joined me today and was like "ejecting people in AWGate is fun" I
think NelXaga was responsible for this partially O_o [View Quote] the GKs again...Dec 14, 2003, 7:25pm
Ever wonder why they eject people for no reason at all, and never explain
why they do it? DO YOU HAVE TO REPLY TO EVERYTHING!?!Dec 15, 2003, 5:43am
Get a better "hot spots" section in the newsletterDec 16, 2003, 11:51pm
There are always new buildings popping up in AWI's main worlds.
Unfortunately for AlphaWorld, the only "hot spots" shown in the newsletter are ancient places built over 7 years ago. The newsletter needs a "hot spots" section for AlphaWorld, with all new builds, because frankily... builders have a lot more capability of making impressive things these days, so why not show some of them in the newsletter? Get a better "hot spots" section in the newsletterDec 17, 2003, 6:44pm
I would love to type up an article for the newsletter, but how do you know
that I won't just be wasting my time? I type it up.. send the email, and what if they completely ignore it? [View Quote] Get a better "hot spots" section in the newsletterDec 18, 2003, 1:22am
exactly, as you know I am not that great of a typer, it would be great if it
were someone with actual composition skill to type up a hot spots section for AW [View Quote] Heres what happens with you dont like GksDec 17, 2003, 12:57am
matt888, that was just asking for trouble. there are many other reasons why
some GKs are unjust, but storming into a world screaming anti-GK stuff and getting ejected for it is not one of them [View Quote] Happiest of HolidaysDec 18, 2003, 5:37am

Anyway, the url goes to a download site for a free program that uses real time reflections/refractions, camera glare, multisampling.. etc, anyway it's photo-realistic graphics. Best I've seen so far. AW not a ProductJan 26, 2004, 4:16am

Yet? It's been over eight years. I sure hope you are not expecting
anything anytime soon. [View Quote] AWGOSSIP = BannedJan 28, 2004, 4:21am
hey, why not just ban the whole english language while they are at it. the
bot should at least give warnings, and banning this word obviously shows that some party feels threatened by a non-AW affiliated site. [View Quote] Thanks AW for the new beta.Jan 30, 2004, 3:41am
UnDocked Tabs...Jan 30, 2004, 7:28am
whatever happened to those new versions with great new features like 3.3 and
before? There should have been no 3.5 until AWI implimented some *really* nice new features (equivalent to the terrain and 3 axis in 3.3. those were nice new features) AW 3.5 is just 3.4 with a pretty frame for the picture. Panorama Changer Program (from Syntax)Jan 30, 2004, 3:29am
Well, I got this idea visiting Magine's Alphaworld Quest. At this location,
there was a link to an old program created back in 19?? (it said it's only for Win95 so I assume it's old) and it changed the panorama background for a specified world for only the user who is running the program. I am requesting that any one of the talented programmers in AW do an update of this program that not only changes the panorama background, but also give them the option to have a skybox if they want. I know the skybox thing may be hard to do, so even if someone creates a simple program that lets someone change both the panorama background picture and the color of the sky, that'd be really sweet. This would not even be a tough program to make... So, if anyone is interested, you can check out the website with "PanaChange" by visiting http://www.imatowns.com/~derekh/dl.html. I even requested to MrGrimm that this feature (having personalized backdrops for worlds that allow it) to be implemented directly into the browser but he seemed to not really understand me. I know there is a way to change the backdrop on your own machine but it's a pain in the butt to do the process everytime you want a new background So, if any programmers want to take this task, that'd be great! Thanks for readin'. -Syntax (I'll be back in April.. ;P) AW 3.5 issueJan 30, 2004, 4:20am
You can't click and hold onto an object and drag it anymore. 3.5 now does
this useless thing where it centers your mouse instead. Skybox neededJan 30, 2004, 7:53pm
We need a skybox of outer space to put on the OP, does anyone know of a
place where you can get free skyboxes? Lives and youFeb 1, 2004, 5:29am
It is a story that has been passed around a lot. I have no idea where it
came from. It almost sounds like one of those Chicken Soup for the Soul type of things. Lives and youFeb 1, 2004, 8:09am
