Was this a sudden one-day IO message? I know someone else who did not get
any warning that they were going to expire until the day they were expiring. Several small thingsOct 17, 2003, 12:44am
interesting that the *only* mod to the NGs is enzo. you'd think he would be
able to gather a trustworthy PK team or something =P SW City Radio Episode 2 - The Death of CommunityOct 21, 2003, 5:14am
The email bag was stolen when Chris forgot to take it with him before going
off air `,' My rant...Nov 5, 2003, 10:57pm
I *really* like the idea of AWI putting more attention into AW. but the
terrain... I've seen AWTeen, and not enough people know how to skillfully use the terrain. you would be seeing terrain spikes here and there. But other than that, AW needs to be nurtured or else it just will just keep deteriorating. Speaking of deteriorating, looks like AWI made a move to remove the chess and checkers from the GZ. My rant...Nov 6, 2003, 1:21am
It is posts like this that open the eyes of a lot of people, it also
addresses the issues that are going on, and what could be fixed. This type of post *does* help the community. Regarding your comment on daily breakfast with coffee, the community in Alphaworld used to be thriving, then the prices increased 350% in one day. My brother is a financial planner, want to know his comment on that move? "Holy sh*t" It is perfectly normal for us to expect more if we are paying 350% the price that we used to pay for AW, and are getting less. (Not feature-wise, but community-wise) I don't know what you meant, Rick, on your comment "was never our intention to create community," because on the ActiveWorlds home page it states "The Active Worlds Universe is a *community* of hundreds of thousands of users." My rant...Nov 10, 2003, 5:03am
Bruce: how about ending this petty arguement that has nothing to do with the
topic at hand, and don't follow what brock tells you. Brock: stop pestering bruce, got it? Just bring this arguement to a topic of it's own, but don't bring it to a topic about the AW community. My rant...Nov 13, 2003, 4:23am
I agree with ronan. Also, we are all paying 350% the price we paid in 2001,
and Alphaworld has seen no changes worth paying the new prices for. My rant...Nov 21, 2003, 6:54am
Wow E N Z O! Great buisness idea. Feel free to share your ideas and thoughts
with us in the future. chess/checkers in alphaworld?Nov 9, 2003, 2:02am
what happened to the chess and checkers games in AWGZ? I used to play them
all the time chess/checkers in alphaworld?Nov 12, 2003, 12:08am
I think the chess/checkers gamebot is running off to tahiti with the rest of
the AW community... VotingNov 9, 2003, 7:14am
People just please read the post above and move on. I can just see the
impending flame war right now. It is not necessary at all. Move/rotate in AlphaworldNov 9, 2003, 7:11am
It's about time, and seeing how the people of AWTeen can handle move and
rotate, I don't see why Alphaworld can't have the same privelage as well. Alphaworld does have a more mature userbase than AWTeen in general, so I don't see why we can't be trusted with it. Tourist building in AlphaworldNov 13, 2003, 4:28am
Most of the long-time AW users that I know, wanted to subscribe based on the
experience they got building tourist towns in alphaworld. Alphaworld is the flagship world for AW, why not let tourists experience it to its full potential? Tourist building in AlphaworldNov 14, 2003, 2:33am
also, have you noticed that once tourist towns stopped in Alphaworld, Active
worlds started plummeting? It was more than just the prices that caused this. Anyone nowadays has to make a $70 bet wondering what it's like to build in alphaworld, but many people don't take that bet because they don't know what it's really like. I bet AWI could get a lot more people to subscribe if they just let potential customers build in alphaworld. Tourist building in AlphaworldNov 14, 2003, 5:16am
because alphaworld has all the history in it, and also, alphaworld is over
63,000 times larger than A!!CT, so it is much easier to make a secluded tourist town, a town that will last just long enough for the potential customers to get turned on by the idea of making a small community, so they would want to subscribe. Tourist building in AlphaworldNov 14, 2003, 10:58pm
interesting that you say that. it brings up a good point. AWI seems to want
to preserve AW a little too much, yet they don't take the time to preserve the tourist builds. I don't think it should have come to this in the first place. tourists have to continue building in AW, that was one of AW's main incomes. all they will get now are short-time users, who didn't come to AW from the alphaworld building experience, but came to AW with the thought to own a world, but then those people are leaving because AW just doesn't have enough people to make world-ownership really interesting. the long-time AW users are the ones that have started out building tourist towns in alphaworld. Ever wonder why?Nov 14, 2003, 2:04am
perhaps even an AW gz building contest. imagine the enormous numbers of
people that would participate, maybe even some fanatics renewing theis cits just to get a shot at getting their creation displayed at the teleport point of AW's flagship world Pay extra for tourists. Bad idea.Nov 15, 2003, 5:42am
If AWI thinks that they will get additional income from this, in the long
run, they won't. Many potential customers won't be able to see as many private worlds, as well as public worlds, therefore their interest in subscribing will be inundated. If it could just be a simple check box in the world features, then more people would be willing to let tourists come in their worlds. That way, tourists will get to see more of what Active Worlds has to offer, and be more inclined to subscribe. Also, look at all the world owners who are letting their worlds expire these days due to the exceedingly high prices as of the beginning of 2002. Basically, you should not have to pay extra for tourists, nor should you have to pay these outrageous prices for worlds. AWI, you are losing customers! There is a fine balance between the number of world owners you get, and the price of private worlds. It is obvious that you are too far on one side. Pay extra for tourists. Bad idea.Nov 15, 2003, 10:38pm
from what I can see, AW has already lost over 2/3 of it's userbase, and they
are still losing more people than are subscribing. Rate Active Worlds (the universe we are in now and the software we use) on a scale 1-100. (100 is best)Nov 17, 2003, 6:28am
Talking to AWI = Kicking a dead horseNov 21, 2003, 5:38am
About what baro said in a previous thread, about me kicking a dead horse
trying to reason with AWI. It's a pretty bad sign if you try to discuss things with AWI and it's equivalent to kicking a dead horse. Where do the textures in AW come from?Nov 21, 2003, 5:41am
Were they all made in photoshop or something? what did you take photos of?
Who is texture ab1? What about Andrew1? Do you have any more complete pictures, or could you get some, of the places where you took certain textures from? AW needs incentives for world ownersNov 21, 2003, 9:27pm
It would be a good buisness tactic for AWI to do. Whoever is devoted to
their world, keeps it running long enough, or has an overall good record (maybe other factors as well) AW could help support the world, maybe lower the price on it, or add a few extra coords for free. That would help keep the private worlds running, and fewer world owners running off in frustration because they got nothing in return from AWI from all the work they did on their own worlds. AW needs incentives for world ownersNov 22, 2003, 5:05am
exactly baro, and AWI is only giving the bare minimum right now, especially
when we are paying 350% higher subscriptions E N Z O wake up your citizenships R dying, we are trying to save your ship!!Nov 23, 2003, 11:51pm
E N Z O actually having an intelligent conversation with the AW community?
NO WAY!!! His reply to the rant thread was something along these lines: "TAG YOU'RE IT". His senseless humour doesn't entertain the AW citizens, who are seeing with their own eyes a dying community. I really doubt that E N Z O is taking his job seriously anymore. It's like he WANTS to kill Active Worlds. I really doubt E N Z O will do anything to fix the world and citizen fees. The people that delete things for fun don't give a crap about hosting things or being part of a community. Virtual Terrorism?Nov 25, 2003, 2:39am
one thing that I also noticed is that InSaNiTy is so full of himself. all
his posts are about his sheer saintliness. I have also heard from other people that he has a big time superiority complex. Requests for Charter EnforcementNov 25, 2003, 2:42am
The Lady, try shortening the lengths of your posts. After reading that
charter idea of yours, several ideas were conveyed in a very curcuitous fashion. Half the sentences in there were unnecessary. Stupid Kid EmailNov 25, 2003, 2:22am
Yeah I got the same email. I don't know how he got my email address though.
