You are always assumed guilty before proven innocent. Hence why you've
been charged with a crime to begin with. The same is true for every judicial system in the world, unfortunately. Otherwise, there's no basis for enforcement. -- --Bowen-- http://bowen.homelinux.com Give me ideas. The Language ThingOct 30, 2003, 5:43pm

So you disagree that you're guilty until proven innocent and then at the
end of your schpeal claim that it's no way to treat an innocent person to get false convictions removed? Okay, then, if you're innocent until proven guilty there would be no innocent people jailed... as the evidence would not convict. Guilty people go free too because lack of evidence, therefore guilty until proven innocent is the norm of a judicial system. -- --Bowen-- http://bowen.homelinux.com Give me ideas. Yeah, there's no problem with it this way, it tends to get more people
based on lack of evidence (as they'll usually be guilty 99% of the time) but it also has the problem with jailing innocent people because they're already on trial and that the jury doesn't really care about the fate of the person. Afterall, it's not you on trial. ;) -- --Bowen-- http://bowen.homelinux.com Give me ideas. PROXIMA Object/Texture Design Services Open for BusinessOct 30, 2003, 2:19am

Yeah it figures as such. I can say that would be the number one thing that needs to be implemented in a real time rendering system. -- --Bowen-- http://bowen.homelinux.com Give me ideas. Effects I'd like to get ahold of...Nov 2, 2003, 3:32pm

Many of the ideas started > in NewAW were things which have been on the wishlist for YEARS and have now > been incorporated in the client! I think he's exspressed concern that AW is not moving forward. All the new features that have been incorporated in the browser are not even being enabled in public build worlds (save AWTeen). > e. Are you sure there was a plan to revamp AWGZ? It might be fun. But as I've said before, the Denizens of AW are horribly attached to antiquity... doing this might shatter their world. > f. You don't remember that people were upset when the new avatars got > added? This was not when "only Cy" existed but was years later. Avatars are avatars, maybe people would've been happy if new avatars were appended to the previous avatars instead of completely replacing them. Which is usually the problem, people don't mind change, as long as they can fall back on to familiar things. > g. What are the features still to be unlocked? It was my understanding that > tourists are allowed and 3Axis rotation is also. What would you like? 3rd axis rotation in the _world_ AW! And all AWI owned worlds for that matter (such as mars). Hell, special commands would be a god send. I doubt you really need to be concerned with "terrorism" anymore Rick, your new price scheme has sufficiently alienated all the 12 year olds who want to cause trouble. But it's also a double edged sword, people are paying more and that means they want more (ie every feature added being added to the world). Terrain (use demeter - that alon would be awesome), special commands (thank god light wasn't one of them), 3rd axis rotation, maybe even water a-la-AWTeen style. > h. You feel that a rate hike was done and a promise was made that AlphaWorld > was then going to be improved? We always hoped that such a thing would happen, we payed more for not only new browser improvements (which would be stupid not to have unless you're really believe that stopping production would still produce money), but also that our congregation centers would also be improved. I'm not saying it's bad... but maybe AW should be backed up to a blank world to be preserved. ClassicAW, where the old timers can have everything the way they want it, meanwhile _everything_ in AW is kept there and all new options are enabled. All that ClassicAW is would be a world that you took a propdump of one day and just left it for antiquity sake. If people really needed it to be "like the good old days." Or, on the same leaf, take the name NewAW and take a propdump and move it there and turn on all features. > Let us know what you think AW should have and then we can rebutt or agree. Pre-terrain floors overlap with the terrain. Hey wait a second, didn't a bunch of us (me included) get together to make a bot to fix that problem. Oh wait, we did -- because we realized it was a problem back in the 3.3 beta days so we had to fix it... and fix it we did. Making the current backdrop into a skybox doesn't destroy anything, it's expanding it. Not with AW due to the ground. Put it at the _exact_ same level as ground (and allow for people to edit it with objects) this will be fine and will not really damage someone's builds at all unless they purposefully put the build half above and half below. It really has no problem with being implemented. Terrain does not mess with anything unless the person specifically decides to edit it. Therefore, it does not destroy antiquity. It's not double sided like the current ground is... although I don't see how that's a problem. -- --Bowen-- http://bowen.homelinux.com Give me ideas. My rant...Nov 6, 2003, 7:06pm

Companion world. AWClassic\ClassicAW. You don't want to make a new world for the new features, you want to move the present AW to an older world and keep the newer features in the standard AW. It works out better this way, newer people won't get confused... but if you feel really adament about it, NewAW works just fine. I'm sure you could spring for the 200 GB Hard drive to get for it if you look hard enough. Beta means untested product, usually. Alpha just means the beta of the beta. You can technically refer to the Alpha-tests as Beta-test^2, or as most people do, Beta. -- --Bowen-- http://bowen.homelinux.com Give me ideas. My rant...Nov 6, 2003, 7:20pm

You were there toward the end of the 3.4 betas with the rest of us right? You saw practically everyone that really was not qualified to do beta testing show up. You had people that were on the beta simply to be on the beta. People who complained because the beta didn't have some features that they should have *cough*linuxbrowserwithacertainsomeone. It got really bad. I guess they picked the handful that didn't do many bug reports (and thus wouldn't bug the developers to fix things since it's alpha) and they picked the few that they felt were least qualified on offering a solution -- thus fitting into the not bugging developers as much. That's just my hypothesis as to how it was organized. Yes, Andras is on the alpha... but that doesn't mean the rest of the list was chosen wisely.
