Yes, that would be very useful. Much easier than using the create mask crap
and would take up less space. even just create opa 0.0001 so you're not
wasting 4 characters (opacity)

How... do you password a .txt file?
or get AW to store it in a zip w/ password thus saving some space at the
same time. AW should store all chat logs in files based on months. Chat logs
often get so long that you cannot load them X_X

If AW were more like the FarCry Sandbox we'd be moving in a forward
direction. It's a real time editor that is EXTREMELY easy to use even for
the nubs. I figured it all out within minutes of opening it up. You can find
objects in a list of objects. Having a basic set of objects would be fine
and for those of us with cable we could download objects on the fly. This
does happen to be the digital era, if you've got a dial-up modem too bad for
you. I think having an editor like the FarCry Sandbox would improve AW
greatly.
CryTek engine is a different story though. hehe. It'd be nice too but... you
need a good graphics card.

I'm sure most areas in other countries can supply you with something faster
than dialup. Cable, Satellite, DSL. One way or another, downloads in AW are
bad anyway (at the moment) for 56k users.

I have a good graphics card. GeForce FX 5900. Cost about $150.
A GeForce4 MX 440SE can run FarCry and they are about $40 or $50.
Oct 26, 2004, 9:17am
Hehe neither would I.
I didn't say you CAN'T use a 56k connection. It would not be any worse than
it is right now for 56k users and objects. I went on at a friends house the
other day on 56k and X_X would have taken an hour to download all the
objects. That's kinda what I meant by the whole cable vs. 56k thing. I've
been to Australia and stayed and met a couple of families who didn't even
know they were using a 56k modem (I asked if they were on cable or 56k they
were like 'huh'? lol.) That and prices were a little high for cable (is what
the parents said). Cool place though I had a great time.
Oct 26, 2004, 5:05pm
Ok so than there's no issue at all. So we should get better objects and a
better engine.

lol I went to Australia last (summer for the US -- winter for them) and it
was about 21°C and they were all complaining it was cold and I was walking
around in short sleeves and shorts. Was pretty funny though. They were like
wait untill the summer here it gets to be about 40+ and I'm like ........ it
gets to be about 40+ where I live during the summer too... Australia is
soooooooo uber. I loved it a lot. It looks cool, the people are great, and
Sydney is like... the cleanest city I've ever been to. (Besides Montreal,
Canada)
Anyways I went a little off topic.
I liked the gate last year with the snow. It's a cool change from the same
old gate. If they're not going to make it snow, at least re-make the gate to
a christmassy theme of some sort.

I don't understand why this is so hard... aren't all of the effects stored
client side anyway. All AW would have to do is make the browser read terrain
and get attributes from the terrain and change it's atts accordingly.
I know things like rain are a different story lol... need particle systems
(for the most part) and the air pockets would be somewhat harder... unless
you just change the fog and gravity which is again stored client side.
The browser is completely set up for it... just need a way for the server to
store that info and the browser to use it.
Mar 3, 2005, 6:08pm
You'd have to have your view up to at least 100 to see the objet though...
and if you go out of it's range it'd dissappear. There needs to be something
like static objects that are always rendered no matter the distance. CTs or
people with EJ/ED only...

Yeah... I think there is amazing too O_O. Unfortunately, AW still kicks ass
because... no chat box at the bottom of your screen (you have to read the
damn bubbles), and NO BUILDING!!! They did however just get live radio (via
Winamp/Shoutcast) and live voice chat O_O. The grafics are absolutely out of
this world, but still there's no avatar selection... but There does have
buggies, and hoverboards, and the new hoverboats (you can take 4 other
people with you), and the new hoverbikes (like motorcycles).
