It's called "exaggerating" Godfather...sheesh people.. :P
To be honest with you, I don't think anyone is going to want to make any type of "business" transaction with you considering everything that has gone on... people are really no longer considered a "trusted source" after account theft and repeated hackings... I'm still not understanding why you are trying with this.. [View Quote] 4.1 April Fools PrankApr 5, 2006, 4:45pm
If you are "severely" annoyed by something like this... then you aren't
out in RL enough! :P Lighten up people.. have a sense of humor, it's a 3d Chat! Would you rather have a buggy version of AW or one that works properly? I'm sure 4.1 will come soon enough. And that comment above wasn't a personal attack at you Goshenta, I'm just pulling your leg a little ;) [View Quote] 4.1 April Fools PrankApr 6, 2006, 2:06am
"And that comment above wasn't a personal attack at you Goshenta, I'm
just pulling your leg a little ;) " I think you missed that last line.. I added that in so that you didn't take what I said to heart and knew that I was just giving you trouble, but I guess it still didn't serve the purpose that it was intended to serve. *shrugs* oh well, I'll try harder next time, I promise! :P [View Quote] [AW Reunion] Hotel AccomodationsApr 9, 2006, 2:41am
Awesome! :)
Also, to everyone who has reserved a room but may not have signed up on the registration page, please do not neglect to fill out this page, it is a must. This will help us to keep track of everyone who is coming and gives us an idea of how many gift bags, t-shirts, name tags and other information that we need to get together to give to the attendees upon arrival. The registration page also gives everyone an option to sign up for an "L" pass, which is a card for unlimited transportation throughout the city and will also help us to keep track of who has paid the registration fee once announced. Just thought I'd give a heads up :) Look forward to seeing everyone! [View Quote] My Birthday (of sorts)May 28, 2006, 8:54pm
4.1 does NOT workJun 7, 2006, 8:52pm
Dragon, it is not just you that is having these problems with the new
browser. Something that you and a several others need to understand is that it is just that, a new version of the browser.. there are bugs to be worked out still. New versions of computer programs do not always work perfectly right off the bat. I'd email beta at activeworlds.com or support at activeworlds.com and let them know any type of errors you may be receiving upon crashing in order for them to try and resolve the issues. But I wouldn't address the email in the tone you are taking in here, otherwise nothing will be accomplished. Have a little patience...the upgrade is brand new, we are all working through it. [View Quote] 4.1 texture/mask bugJun 8, 2006, 3:05am
For 4.1, masked textures have to be in a 24 bit greyscale for them to
mask properly. chrispeg and I had looked into this very same problem early last year. Those specific tree objects, I believe, were only saved in 16 bit greyscale, which is why they aren't working in this version of the browser. You can easily change and save them in photoshop as a 24 bit and then re-upload them. If you don't have photoshop or a program to change the greyscale format, I can send you the masked texture files that I had to convert if you want :) [View Quote] 4.1 texture/mask bugJun 8, 2006, 5:01pm
Yea, that is another one that I forgot to post earlier.. From what
chris mentioned when I checked back on the old posts, is that it's either 1bit black and white or 24bit greyscale that will work properly in 4.1 [View Quote] 4.1 texture/mask bugJun 8, 2006, 5:47pm
now see that's odd.. I do remember those trees that Matt had mentioned
having an odd mask format to them though, which is why I noticed the post when I was going through the ng's the other day. Maybe there ARE a few more formats that will work. [View Quote] I like the new contact list featureJun 12, 2006, 6:42pm
Yes, but while this feature is very handy, it also conflicts with the
old blocking methods from 3.6 and has somehow also conflicted with the privacy settings. For example.. if someone chooses to block a user by way of right clicking their name on their list and selecting "hide status" or "block telegrams", all that the blocked user would have to do is turn on "confirm add" and select "block user" and drop their name from the person's contact list, then readd them to see their status and send telegrams again. (This is considering that the person who blocked does not have "confirm add" on) Also, with the privacy settings in options/settings/general if you checkmark "hide world" or "block telegrams", etc.. it only affects the users on your contact list. Anyone else that is not on your contacts will still be able to view your status, world, or send you telegrams. It's a nice feature, but still a few things that need to be fixed for those who like the old block system too. [View Quote] scavenger huntJun 15, 2006, 6:31pm
I don't quite understand why it is necessary to bash AWI for the
postponement here.. the release has effected many different events in different ways - yours is not the only one in ActiveWorlds. Upgrades to the browser is a part of AWI's jobs, they aren't here to schedule upgrades around yours or anyone elses events. I'm not trying to sound mean or anything and I'm sorry that your event won't be able to go as planned, but it was known a few weeks ahead of time when the release would be and every program has their bugs that are eventually worked out. I just don't think it is very fair to bash the company for your event not exactly running on time. I'm sure it will be a great event whenever you have it though. [View Quote] scavenger huntJun 16, 2006, 12:49am
"Until they get their act together" and "they dropped a bomb on this
event" sounded completely different than "until everything is fixed".. maybe I had just misunderstood the wording. Anyways,I do understand about the prizes, in which most events that take on prize donations involve other cits paying out of their own pockets. However, I'm sure it will be taken care of for you and they will hold off the paid prizes until you have the event. I apologize if I sounded harsh, it wasn't intentional, I think maybe I just misunderstood your wording on a few things :) [View Quote] AWUniv Building ContestJun 28, 2006, 1:36am
Hey everyone,
The annual building contest is being set up once again for July in AWUnivAB world. The contest will take place on July 25th and will go for approximately 3 weeks before judging on August 20th. Applications will be open starting July 15th for those who are interested and for those wanting to know, here is how the layout will be in world for the contest: Lots will be 6x6 H scale (that's 6 walk001h.rwx by 6 walk001h.rwx). The world cell limit will be set to MEGA for everyone and V4 objects will also be allowed! Keep in mind that while these objects will be allowed, there will also be rules that apply to them as well as the rest of the contest (see: http://www.awcommunity.org/awu/awunivab/abrules.htm). This July's contest theme will be: *world landmarks* (this can be anything from stadiums, ballparks, statues, buildings, museums, sculptures, etc. As long as it is a documented world landmark) More information can be found on the webpage at http://www.awcommunity.org/awu/awunivab/ Hope to see everyone there! Elyk AWUniv Building ContestJun 28, 2006, 4:15am
Heh.. well the dates have been on the webpage for a few years now since
it was restarted. You should join the contest ;) Judges will not be announced and all object click rights will be turned off after the contest so that the builds are not labelled by name, but numbered. This makes the contests more fair, as the judges are to agree to a "non-personal judgement" basis anyways :) [View Quote] AWUniv Building ContestJul 16, 2006, 4:08am
Hi everyone - contest applications are now open for anyone that wants
to participate in the contest on July 25th. Make sure to get in your applications by that date though. http://www.awcommunity.org/awu/awunivab/abapply.htm Elyk "The Cys have made it to the future", building off the title "transition to the future"Jul 2, 2006, 8:30pm

Renew World on website brokenJul 19, 2006, 1:37am
It didn't upgrade your world but it renewed it? I think sometimes the
size upgrades and such may take like a day or so to kick in, but I could be wrong on that. I'd probably email them and see if everything was processed before you try to make changes over and over again because you could be just be charging yourself additionally each time you go back and resubmit the renewal form. [View Quote] [AW Reunion 2007] Where To Next?Jul 26, 2006, 12:31am
I believe this thread was to choose where the next one will be.. not to
bicker over who is in charge or who has "first dibs" on anything. We're not in kindergarten anymore guys. As Goober King had stated in one of his posts, there have been multiple reunions before in different places and at the same times. I think that it is good that options are left open for people to choose where they would like to spend time and give the community a chance to decide between a few places for their vacations. This thread was made to pick where everyone would want to go if they were to go to THIS reunion. To badger and nitpick at the person making the post is silly. As far as I'm concerned, if you aren't planning on going to any of the reunions next year, then don't reply :) [View Quote] [AW Reunion 2007] Where To Next?Jul 27, 2006, 5:32pm
Yes, they have sponsored reunions in the past, as both Lucrezia Borgia
and Mountain Myst used to be part of the reunion committee. [View Quote] [AW Reunion 2007] Where To Next?Aug 1, 2006, 6:17pm
At the time this reunion was planned, the committee didn't feel the need
to charge attendees a fee to pay off a hospitality suite, but rather a fee is used to pay for events that everyone will be going to as a group. There should be no need for those going to have to pay for a hospitality room when a lot of them may not want to even spend time in there. (That's just my personal opinion however) Be that as it may, first planned reunion or not, Archergirl, Poseidon and the rest of the committee did a darn good job planning everything out and making sure everyone was accommodated for, which is the important part. The reunion fee went towards events and gift bag items and towards city passes for those who ordered them. Options were left open except for two required events schedule-wise because a lot of people like to explore on their own and the committee didn't want them to feel as if they were tied down to a strict schedule during the entire trip. There is no "right" or "wrong" way to plan a reunion. I think the "extra room" was efficient enough for the radio show that was planned on Friday night. This wasn't the first reunion where an extra room was booked you know.. it has been done in the past. :) [View Quote] Who's next to get banned, when is it gonna end?Jul 27, 2006, 5:25pm
http://www.activeworlds.com/community/conduct.asp
Those are the guidelines for ActiveWorlds. Below it states clearly the actions in which AWI holds the rights to do at anytime. It also clearly states that they withhold the right to disable or terminate an account at anytime without notification if they feel a user is being disruptive or not obeying the conduct guidelines within THEIR universe. Lady Tigrane, the fact of the matter is, is that AWI is not obligated to give you or anyone else an explanation on how they conduct their business or why they have removed or took action against someone that was probably causing more problems than you know about. Going by what you "hear" from those citizens, or citizens that tell you what they have heard is not always the wisest way to base your judgements. A lot of the posts that you have made are just that. You've taken things that you have heard and have assumed that the company is being completely irrational. Anytime a user is disabled or even banned for that matter, there is usually a pretty good reason behind it. However, they are not obligated to sit down with everyone and explain to you why they did it. [View Quote] Who's next to get banned, when is it gonna end?Jul 27, 2006, 8:13pm
You are assuming that they are banning people for asking questions. The
fact of the matter is: disabled accounts, disciplinary action, and a revoked account, world, or the like is between AWI and the customer for which they are dealing with, not YOU and the rest of the universe. From what I've been getting from your posts/griefs regarding banishments is that you are taking things that you are hearing from those people and/or others and believing what they are telling you to be fact. That's not a very intelligent way to make a judgement. There are two sides to every story and to be honest, none of it really needs to be aired out here. If you have concerns, address them to the company via email or telephone, but keep in mind, they withhold the right not to disclose any information to you regarding how they conduct their business. ;) [View Quote] Who's next to get banned, when is it gonna end?Jul 27, 2006, 8:47pm
Is that a serious question? :P Come on Lady Tigrane... you honestly
think a company would randomly ban a user for asking about a technical issue? This is where "that can't be right" should come into play for you instead of automatically believing rumor to be fact. [View Quote] Who's next to get banned, when is it gonna end?Aug 3, 2006, 7:35am
