Must be a pretty one sided debate, huh?

Hey Everyone

Is it working for you now? The reason they have a beta test phase is so that people with the patience to do so can help find bugs so that they can be fixed before the software is released. Always keep a backup before you upgrade to a beta, in case the bugs are too much to tollerate, but if you get a bug in a beta version don't complain about it... report it.

As for your question, if you save a backup copy of your teleports.txt file, that will be enough.

I'm not certain, but I think you're mistaken. If a person on the beta wants to go back to an earlier version there's no reason why they shouldn't be able to. I think it would be nice though if they sent in a formal request via e-mail to be removed from the beta team if they have no intention of testing the beta version, so that the developers know they have one less tester. Of course, it's not good to make them waste a lot of time changing who is on the beta team, so if you don't intend to provide useful feedback, it's best not to ask to be on the beta in the first place.

Yep. I understand your point completely. Try not to let it annoy you too much, because it will probably always be that way.

Yes, great piece of work there. :) Very descriptive, and rather artistic at that.

You tell me I know exactly who made what mistakes. I'm telling you, that's not the case. Are you going to avoid a direct answer indefinately? What is it that you are accusing of having been done wrong?

I hate to say it, but I have to agree with Strike in this case. I'm not asking you to go over it again. I'm still waiting for you to go over it the first time. I hear a lot of complaining, but nothing really being said.

Again, I reiterate... what is it that you are claiming has been done wrong? If all you can come up with it that Daphne said something was done wrong, then why bother to say it at all? If someone else has a complaint, they can say what it is. If you have a complaint, feel free to say what it is. If not, don't waste any more effort on it and consider the subject dropped.

That's still not an answer. A cop out, maybe, but not an answer. Look, I don't want to keep asking. It's just rediculous. If you have nothing to say, then leave it go and I will consider it a dropped subject. If you reply, I will be expecting to see an answer or an apology. Take your pick.

I hear you Mark. I don't want it either, but I think I do have a right to stand up for myself. If the Cy Awards Executive Team, which I happen to be on, is accused of having done something wrong without any details of who or what, then I think it only fair that I should be able to ask what the accusation is. So far she has only been able to indicate that perhaps she may possibly have been talking about the Selection Committee, but I don't even see her backing that up. So if she drops it, I will too... but if she replies with more statements "implying" that I may have done something wrong, then I will again ask what, until she either drops it or answers that one simple question. Maybe I'm carrying this too far, but I'm not used to having my integrity attacked so don't be surprised if I act like this is not an every day occurrance to me.

I've done no such thing, and I'm not the one who has made it personal. You attacked me. State your case, admit your were wrong, or just give up quietly, because I will not stand by and quietly allow you to attack me with vague comments about how "somebody" did "something" wrong.

And when I asked if I understood what "you" meant, your only comment was to tell me that I wrote it.
Again, I ask for a straight answer. What is it that you are saying has been done wrong?

What problem would that be the fact that we set a new record for the most votes ever in a single round of the Cy Awards?

If you're talking about the "problem" that you quoted, that was done away with before I even became a member of the Cy Awards, so you can thank Weebo and Cyberwitch for doing away with that problem. It also did not involve any of the people currently on the Cy Awards teams, including myself.

Is that it?

I have demonstrated that. All I ask is a straight answer to the question of what it is that was supposedly done wrong, that I can either except or deny blame for. We'll see if I get it. If it can be shown that I have done something wrong, then I want the chance to make it right. If not, then obviously there was never really anything bad to be said about me in the first place, and we can let it drop.

Well, if it's not over then let's hear it. What is it that you are accusing me of? Isn't that a simple enough question? Answer it, or let it go and in doing so anmit that you were wrong. You have as of yet only thrown empty insults. Put something into one of them, or stop throwing them. I will again ask. What am I accused of?

Okay... you have something to say? Feel free. If you can only tell me that it's been said, then why bring it up? I have dropped it with Linn as long as she has dropped it, but if you would like to take up the finger pointing, then tell me what you're pointing it at. If not, have a good day. Either way, you may want to catch up on some of what all has actually been said, and what has been vaguely implied but NOT said, before you go telling me how I'm acting. If you don't know what I've been through, please try not to pass judgement. I'm not attacking you, so don't take it as such, but I was in the process of being attacked, it apeared to have been dropped, and you just came along and picked it back up... so run with it or drop it. Your call.

Linn, please don't take this as an attack because it's not... but I really think you should consider how it sounds to say that you forgive someone for making assumptions and will leave them to their mind bending games if they ask you to. Sounds to me rather like telling someone that you're willing to give them a full refund of their purchase price minus shiping and handling charges on an item that you broke if they'll pay you enough to do so. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and guess that you meant well, or I wouldn't be bothering to even say anything to you about it... but I really think you could do better if you tried.

I'm out of this war zone

Nov 9, 2002, 5:47am
I don't hold it against whoever deleted the stuff because I know they were just trying to stop a war that they didn't start, but the thread I started asking for positive input is gone and with it the ideas which I had flagged for later review. I think I remember the important stuff, but if not that's just too bad. I didn't start the war either, but I sure got picked as a primary target.

To any moderator of this newsgroup: Feel free do delete any remaining posts of mine that were made before this one... and if you see fit to do so, this one too.

If you don't like the way people voted, "tough." There were a total of 4636 votes this round of the Cy Awards, so if someone won that you didn't want to see win... try not to look.

I'm really tired of so many people trying to tell me that their view is the only one that can possibly be right. I have listened carefully to all sides and it seems that even though many people have attacked me personally, the only real complaint they seem to have about me is that I am neutral. Well, maybe it's better that way. Yes, I am neutral, and I will remain so.

I'm not going to bend to any one groups whims and do what ever they say. I've had too many people trying to tell me that they want no discrimination, but that I have to ban what they tell me to. I've had too many people saying that they want things to be fair, but that I need to make sure those they think should win Cy Awards have the best chance. I've had too many people telling me that they want all groups represented equally except for the ones that they don't want to allow at all. Well, I could add a lot more to this list of what I have had too many people telling me, but instead I will say this... one is too many.

Want things to get better? Do something positive about it. From now on, I will outright ignore any further negativity. If you want my attention, be polite and come to me with constructive things to say, not destructive. I will no longer listen to or respond to those who can do no better than to point fingers and yell out that something they won't bother to specify is all wrong and they're going to make us all pay for it.

If someone starts a nice positive thread in here (or if this message begins one) then feel free to let me know and I may just come have a look.
