I can only suggest pressing Skip on the statup screen and messing about with
the internet configurations. Seiya's SongJan 28, 2003, 6:32pm
Cakewalk is excellent for begginers, or people with no musical talent
what-so-ever (whichever you may be). The problem with Cakewalk is you can't do dynamics and its hard to use if you are not used to it - also there are other subtle differences, just try transposing sheet music into it. Sibelius is good, but expensive, and you'll need musical knowledge. Regarding the actual MIDI, well its different, but the best background themes are actually music, as apposed to crappy sound effects. get a new dummyJan 28, 2003, 6:41pm
Oh grow up, if you want to get anywhere in real life you have to learn to
shrug things off, you have to learn noit to fight the majority and most importantly you have to learn that everything isn't fair - not everything will be handed to you and just doing things to get attention gives you the lable "problematic". Rules of conversation, find something intresting to talk about - or integrate yourself into a topic with something intresting. Unfortunately you find something very boring to talk about and intgrate yourself with profanity. You have made yourself a target, its not my fault. Stecloud "Get a new dummy" - how about no. Well you'll have to be over 18, and i warn you - its not for everyone,
though i have nothing against it, its not what i would choose to do. What about Alpha World?Feb 1, 2003, 10:32am
Wow! Behind you house is China - these deduction methods are brilliant.
Yet another user leaves AW!Feb 1, 2003, 5:50pm
Probably shoudlnt have posted his gram - maybe he ,didnt want the whole of
Activeworlds seeing it. Yet another user leaves AW!Feb 3, 2003, 5:02pm
But i'm quite sure not everyone here is on his contacts list. Best just not
to post things that youi are unsure about - you never know what other people want to be kept private or not. [View Quote] What is happening to AW?Feb 6, 2003, 5:07pm
I think the main culprit is the price increase, the effects are more
profound than most even realise. Lets take an example scenario. Everyones $20 a year cit has now expired, so there is no one left on the old price plan. That means that anyone not able to/willing to pay more for AW is gone. that is a user count loss in itself. But the repercussions of that are greater, because there are less people on the universe now - any new people that come in which might be willing to pay more, may find the universe more boring than it once was because of the lack of people. I think thats what is happening - i can't see how the problem can be corrected except for people having a lot more fun actvities in their worlds. We are on a decline - unfortunately. WILL EVERYBODY SHUT UPFeb 7, 2003, 7:13am
How did I know that just by reading the title - this post would be a load of
crap The Game World IS Now Open!Feb 7, 2003, 3:02pm
Ok that's all well and good, let me offer a few.
Announce what your regular games were, not everyone avidly followed your world's activities - well at least I didn't. Announce your times in VRT! Not everyone will know how to convert "7:00 pm EST. USA" into their time - any AW user should know how to convert VRT by now. How do you register?? You didn't explain. "Keep your criticism to yourself" Criticism is only bad if you treat it as such, think of it as constructive - what people don't like, ask them how to do it better - and maybe they do have a better idea than yours, use theirs! And banning every user that criticises you and your world - I don't think its too much to presume that every citizen of AW has criticised their favourite world (whatever it may be) at least once. Just a few thoughts, fell free to ignore them. - Stecloud Calling out to the Community for helpFeb 7, 2003, 5:45pm
Its great that you are trying to help the universe this way :)
However, there is one thing that may hold you back. When new citizens first came to the gate and asked where there was a good place to build, most GKs will probably say AW (well they would, in days gone by). This provided a lot of advertising for AW - as well as the fact it had a huge teleport actually at the gate. I don't know whether or not A!!CT has a teleport at the gate or even if privately owned worlds can have one - but if it doesen't i suggest it gets one. Then there is still the problem of no one to advertise the existance of the world to newcomers. The only solution I can think of is to ask some of your trusted cit friends to hag out at the Gate for an hour each day and plug A!!CT as much as possible. This isn't the most practical or socially friendly solution but it seems the only one that would work, except if AW decide to advertise the world for you - which I doubt they will. Sorry, I haven't really answered your main concern - more like laid some more on your plate, but its something to keep in mind. - Ste Calling out to the Community for helpFeb 7, 2003, 7:26pm
If only it were that simple.
AW can afford to lert tourists into the world if they wanted but that would be going against their whole policy, where by they seem to think they will make more business this way. People in AWTeen were offering to pay money to AWInc for tourist access there - i don't know what happened aabout that but I think AWInc wouldn't accept the donation. However, E N ZO enabled tourist access himself on Generations Day which was last May in AWTeen. Probably through some persuasion by Mountain Myst though. Calling out to the Community for helpFeb 7, 2003, 7:29pm
There is a difference between spamming and scrolling and the occasional plug
of A!!CT when a tourist asks if there are any good worlds, though. A!!CT is deleted and I am gone :PFeb 10, 2003, 2:34pm
If you really are 26 - don't you care how surprised so many people were
about it. this is why - I've tried to help you in the past but you don't seem to ever listen. [View Quote] A!!CT is deleted and I am gone :PFeb 10, 2003, 2:41pm
OneSummer was advertising her world on the AWTeen NG on Andras' server - you
had an NG on that and you never advertised on AWTeen's. OneSummer is worse and if I wasn't a spokesman for a community in AWTeen I would reprimand her - but i don;'t think thats how someone representing a community should act. Don't worry though, plenty of other people do it for me. The Problem With TouristsFeb 12, 2003, 6:13pm
But that's exactly what they want. Why else would they post it if not for
attention - risk getting their cit revoked for nothing? No, the only logical reason that they are doing it is for attention. They may have a friend round at their house. "Hey, look what I can do!" Then of course it causes an uproar wich excites them. If it was mentioned in a newsletter they would be laughing for weeks on end that something they did got so much publicity. Adopting the same psychology as one would with prank phone calls is what should be done here. Put the phone down, cut the problem at the source. Its no fun just to hear someone pick up a phone them put it back down again when they realise what you are doing. Its the same in this scenario - Stecloud [View Quote] The Problem With TouristsFeb 13, 2003, 6:47pm
But trying to get someone banend normally creates a whole lot of red tape -
no, i think its better to nip the problem at the bud so to speak. [View Quote] Valentine's Day Sweetheart Swings BluPearl WorldFeb 12, 2003, 6:17pm
Let me clarify - i said she represented a community within AW (BluPearl).
Big Difference, I represent a community within AW but iI certainly don't represent the whole of AW or work for them in a any wya, shape or form. She represents a community by doing this basically :P [View Quote] *looks around*Feb 19, 2003, 11:53am
Theres a sitcom idea: a blind, stupid person trying to use AW. They could
use it like any other user - but heres the catch, they can't read what people are saying ;) [View Quote] *looks around*Feb 19, 2003, 5:15pm
I'll have the Friends writers in on thsi one - i'm sure we can get a few
ideas rolling. For example - Kelvin (the blind, stupid guy) wants to enter a building contest - problem is, he can't see what the coords are. [View Quote] Fw: Bingo BotFeb 24, 2003, 7:55pm
But had he already posted a post like that - Bingo Bot I would assume he
first posted in the Bot NG. Perhaps yanst can clear that up for us. [View Quote] The-World Bingo worldMar 1, 2003, 9:09am
They probabaly don't have one. Even if they are honest and giving away
things that they promise, theres still a chance they mighjt not deliver the items they promise, or do something even worse. People can keeo trusting them if they wish - but if something like that does happen, you won't have a leg to stand on, legally. [View Quote] The-World Bingo worldMar 3, 2003, 5:33pm
I want to know whether they ask for this info intitially or only if you win
a prize. They should only need to if you have won something. [View Quote] The Game: Repeating Our PostingsMar 29, 2003, 9:31am
Oh people do that all the time, its no big deal. The amout of times a
website will talk about themselves using plural pronouns, when really its just one man working away for hours each night on his server, amuses me greatly. Its a good way to advertise though - some people can actually believe you have a huge team behind you, and that might impress them - although some people also see straight through the chrade. Hey its not as bad as talking in third-person, like some do too often :) Have you not heard of the Royal We [View Quote] |
