Trusted Sources

Jul 24, 2003, 6:21pm
I could be wrong, but I thought Weebo's question was "how would newbies know
which is a trusted source or not, when first coming to AW. Its all very
good spewing loads of URLs you know are safe - but how did you discover they
were safe?

Ohhh ayyyyyy oh! Everybody....

Who cares? its fun for all ages!

And they say they don't make good music nowadays.

Fluctuation

Aug 12, 2003, 10:08am
How annoying, the one time the NG is active is when I'm on vacation. I came
back yesterday and checked today to find a collective 900 posts unread - in
the only 2 NGs I read!

Can't people just be attentive while I'm here :P

COMMUNITY WARNING

I just find it funny how your posts are always followed by an argument.
Hell, maybe people just don't like you - but I think more likely they just
don't like what you say, and from some of the things I've read, I don't
blame them.

I personally have no problem at all with you. I'm not the kind of person
who lets others opinions affect me - but your opinions are often strong and
offensive, that's what i'm guessing some people have a problem with.

weird but true

Very cool find, I understood every word in your post. I think I could
probably understand every word in the English language, as long as the first
and last letters were in place.

weird but true

Sep 13, 2003, 9:36am
I see your point but maybe not in the exact right order. I think as long as
each syllable starts with its correct letter it wouldn't be ahrd to see:

"Msianthorpsit" says "Misanthropist" which isn't a common word, but that
word would be much more read-able in a sentence where you knew the context
of it. I also think sets of letters that makes sounds like "th.." help if
they are left unjumbles.

Noble Elements

Now, I don't pretend to be a Chemistry expert, but since when do Methane or
Ozone contain any Noble elements?

Methan is CH4 and Ozone is O3 isn't it?

Er...are you on drugs? This is General Discussion - people can post what
they want if they think others will find it interesting. I don't agree with
everything BB says sometimes - but I don't think this is a bandwidth wasting
thread (well perhaps now these arguments have started it is).

The sky is blue!

Oct 2, 2003, 4:08pm
Maybe you see blue, how do you know I don't see green and just call it blue
because that's what i'm used to?

3.4 Users?

I'm pretty sure, the majority of users will be on 3.4 by now.

I wouldnt mind being isolated from the continent anyway - we fight wars for
them, maybe we should take a back seat - i cant think of many wars in recnet
history were the UK has been invaded first, or were the UK started the war -
correct me if im wrong.

never quadruple posts! :D

AWteen Maturity

Oct 29, 2002, 7:21pm
I think i agree - there are idiots in every community, and there do seem to
be more in the younger communities - nut inthe end, thats just a
stereotype - and may not even be true.

Some people say that everyone matures sooner or later - i dont think this is
true, there are plenty of people who are immature most of the time and they
are of a grand age. Coversely there are many young mature people - on the
grand scheme of things anyway.

I also believe that people can turn maturity on and off at will or against
their will. Sometimes people will say things that dont seem very mature
when normally they are quite mature people. Also sometimes when i'm with my
friends - i purposely turn my maturity off and add soem irresponsible fun.
Thats the way all humans should and can be in my opinion.

- Ste

PS - Tell me if i applied that stupidity and were maturity one and the
same - i didnt mean to.

Needed: C/C++ Programmers!

Oct 31, 2002, 1:58pm
Well that was fun - a little bandwidth spiral :) But posting telling
someone not to post in HTML could save more bandwidth overall if they posted
out of ignorance.

Bug?

Nov 3, 2002, 3:53pm
I think it goes along with the idea behind coronas that you can only see
them when the whole object is visible. Even though some translucent objects
may let you see the corona object behind them - AW treats it as a normal
object and doesent display it because it doesent thing the corona object is
visible.

What would be the funny things for community members to say...

Nov 13, 2002, 8:41pm
There's nothing wrong with using correct grammar. :P

Advertise your events on the new GAME Radio!

Nov 18, 2002, 7:56pm
meow! You forgot the meow noise, its the best part :P

Stop *mass* advertisement

Nov 23, 2002, 7:00pm
I don't think Newsgroup advertising works too well, people who read them
either ignore them or forget most of the time.

My advise to The Game Master would be, get some more people into your world,
maybe by going to GZs and telling them about it. Make sure they like it,
and you might have a few regulars on your hands. Advertise your events on
your world IO and people are sure to come to them. Then other people who
don't visit the world will see the high user count and join.

I think thats the best way of doing any event, in a new world or old. I
speak from experience having done a couple of AWTeen events myself.

The bottom line is - NG advertisement isn't very effective and it can be
annoying. Try some other ways of advertising and see were they get you.
