Yer such a martyr. :-"/ Perhaps some day you will be on the same level as
Joan of Arc. Then again ....perhaps some day you will CLAIM to be Joan of
Arc. But for now you are somebody who confuses VR with RL. I think you need
some nice comfy R&R in reality. For one thing what exactly is humane
treatment??? As I understand it, it involves giving someone enough food and
drink to sustain life, shelter, warmth and happiness. Ok, we can build our
own virtual reality shelters in AW. We can pretend to eat the food and
drinks given to us there. We can wear layers of clothing to keep our bodies
warm as we sit for hours in front of the puter. But we create our OWN
happiness. Not everyone is as unhappy as you make them out to be. You reap
what you sow hon. And from what I've seen here all yer sowing is a LOT of
unrest. You are starting to sound like a bureaucrat and THAT is NOT what we
are paying for in AW. We are paying for an escape from RL. Remember???????
Or have you gone THAT far over the edge??????? Straighten up and look at
what's going on around you for a change. Don't just go by what YOU are
feeling. And quit jumping to conclusions. Sheesh!!!! Injustice is one thing.
Go fight for justice then but ONLY if someone needs help and asks for it.
You really shouldn't be the judge and jury of what you "think" everybody
wants or needs. ;-"/

Free Citizens and 2 worlds

Aug 13, 2003, 2:02pm
I think what happened was awful. A mere creep like Lotto should not be the
cause of a well loved, well respected member of the community to leave. I
think Weebo should hang onto his worlds and cits and hang in there. The
truth about Lotto will come out, even if I have to embarrass Lotto by
posting the grams I got from him here in these ngs. I'm sure if I asked,
some of the other folks I know would also oblige, if only to make Daphne and
whomever else is in charge see that Weebo did what he had to. True, we might
not be able to stop Lotto from whispering perverted things to men, women and
children like he has already, but perhaps we can look into this matter and
see that Weebo did what he had to do as a PK. Are we as a community gonna
sit around and allow jerks like Lotto perv on everybody while we watch good
people like Weebo take the heat for trying to protect us???????? Its wrong
I tell you. Its just plain wrong. I don't blame Weebs for being frustrated
and upset.

To All Things... An Ending

Aug 15, 2003, 2:45pm
I totally agree with you Baro. AW should be a place for never ending
creativity and self improvement. We have enough committees and politics in
RL. AW has sooooooo many wonderful builds in every world, but there is
always someone coming along who creates something different and amazing. For
years I've wanted to learn how to model but lack the time in RL to learn it
and practice it. I hope somebody reading your post gets the inspiration to
learn modeling and create more exciting things or at least provide those new
models for others to create fantastic builds. Weebo, if you're reading this,
you have a terrific imagination and I believe you'd do great at modeling.
You have the foresight and the creative juices to amaze all of us. I think
you should hold onto your world and let your dreams flow. The hell with
problem solving. ;-"D

Condemnation of AW Citizens

Aug 23, 2003, 12:48am
OK. I sat here long enough trying not to reply to these posts because I know
deep in your heart, The Lady, you are trying to improve what you see as a
problem. Many people have tried in vain to explain to you that they are
satisfied with their virtual lives and don't want more political mental
baggage than in their own real worlds. Like Imagine, I go to AW as a virtual
escape. I made some really terrific friends there and I continue making
friends. True, I spend more time socializing than creating, but at least I
don't have to worry about anyone "supervising" me there. My friends in AW
are a second family to me, but I enjoy NOT having to supervise anyone there
or doing more paperwork. AW is mostly a creative outlet for those people who
love to create virtual reality things and share them with others. The people
who are not into the building scene are there for the socialization. Nobody
is there to form more governments or committees. You seem to be the first
and only person I've ever met who is interested in making our virtual life
more complex. Why cant' we just keep it simple??? True there are some jerks
there that could use a good swift kick now and then.

But I ask you..... what did you mean by "mishandling of funds"??? There
are so many volunteers in AW. I don't believe anyone's getting paid real
money.

You also said:
"Either we, as a community, get with the program and support each other,
free ourselves, or we remain under the hostility of a dictatorship that
torments our citizens."

Huh???? What _hostility_? I don't see gangs of people beating upon each
other and turning faces into pulp. Its VIRTUAL reality!!!! What
dictatorship??? Did Musselini return from the dead??? Or Idi Amin?? What
Torment??? Sure there are disagreements among us regarding different
matters, and some people get out of hand, but that has NOTHING to do with
AWI.

I AM a free person. I don't need any "freeing" thank you. I am able to
explore anything I like within a public world. When I registered as a
citizen, I read the rules. Nobody OWNS me or bosses me around. I do my own
thing. I thought THAT was the object of belonging to a virtual community. I
try to be polite to everyone, even if they offend me or annoy me. I may get
a bit sarcastic at times, but it is meant in good humor. I try to help out
as best I can in different situations and try to keep the peace whenever
possible.

Also, I for one am not tormented. The worlds are rated to show us what is
allowed to be discussed in public. If someone feels the need to go beyond
that, then they need to look for a higher rated world. We can't and
_shouldn't_ be coerced into changing all the world ratings to G or PG to
suit a small population. (THAT would be "dictatorship"!!!) The real world
doesn't work that way and you have to realize AW has visitors and citizens
from all over the world. You mentioned something in an earlier post about
physical torture. Scuse me???? As far as _I_ knew, all those karate and
kickboxing sequences were not programmed to injure the human user of the AW
program. Or are some people having splinters forced under their nails as
they type???

I have no objections to any "spirituality" groups that enjoy meeting or
socializing within AW. I'm sure nobody would object to that. If they do,
they're insensitive dolts. If you want to organize a spirituality group,
please do so with my blessing. However please don't depend on me to join
you. I don't plan my real life schedule around AW. Its the other way around.
I fit in AW when I can, in my spare time like most other people there.
Please also keep in mind that there are a LOT of spiritual "leaders" and
wannabes online. I, personally, don't want to entrust my spirituality in
someone who isnt' properly trained in the form of spirituality I want to
persue. (does that make sense?) In other words, I already have a pastor in
RL. I try to be a good Christian. I don't need an online "spirituality
leader" or one who "claims" to be one or tries to be one. TYVM. ;-")

Morality..... hmmmmmm. Speaking of "diverse". How can you POSSIBLY think you
can lump all morals into one bunch of people to "dictate" to everyone
else???????? That one really perplexes me. I believe most people that go to
AW have good morals, even if some of them are perverts. Heh!! But who is to
say "his" morals are better than "hers"??? Let me repeat, the AW population
comes from different countries AROUND the world. Not just your little neck o
the woods hon. Visiting AW is like visiting a big city like New York. Feel
free to explore and become active and social. But beware the dangers. Be
aware of your surroundings and the people you talk to. Not everywhere or
everyone is safe. "What if" you recruited a person in your little "morality"
group who claims to you to be a preacher of the highest standings???? "What
if" that person you thought was one of the most moral people around was
lying to you, or worse yet, perving on little kids online or in real life???
Is THAT the chance you want to take in your effort to organize groups
online??? These days anyone can create a college degree looking form or
certificate on their computer and there aren't too many people out there who
are qualified to know whether it is a real degree or not. So without seeing
their official and real "resume" and qualifications, you are putting others
at risk. Hmmm..... the name Charles Manson comes to mind for some reason.
(Heh!! so does Marilyn Manson. <shudders>)

As far as physical health and mental health issues go..... how do you
propose to do that???? Put a virtual bandaid on everyone who jumps off a
cliff.rwx???? Lets face it hon, there will ALWAYS be people who are more
sensitive than others. They are the ones who fly off the handle at the
littlest things. They are the ones who get offended too easily. They are the
ones who cry if they cuss and get booted from a world. There will ALWAYS be
people who throw a tantrum and vandalize builds or display signs with
offensive material on it just to make someone embarrassed. Do you plan on
going around, polling people to see who is licensed (in the real world) to
give out health and/or mental health advice??? And what if you DO find
someone like that?? You gonna keep bugging them till they bend to your will
and become the official AW Dr or Psychiatrist?? You planning on opening a
virtual clinic??? Boy, talk about touchy issues there!! THAT would
definately be an ethics problem and these days with the new HEPA law in
effect in the USA, YOU could (and probably would) find YOURSELF in a huge
lawsuit hon!! Not to mention the poor sap who dispenses that advice. AW
would be shut down permentantly and also fined heavily. I know you don't
want that to happen.

Your "plan" and the description (or lack of it) is starting to sound to me
and to a lot of other people here, like you are insisting on all these
"changes" or we will all suffer something awful. Hmmmmm... aren't those
lines also used by bureacrat wannabes and dictators??? From what I've read
so far, you are not going to find many people willing to commit to all this.
There are too many unanswered questions about your fantasy of how AW should
be "run". And I wouldn't count on many people turning up at your meeting.
Its nice that you want to improve some things, but if you want democracy
like you CLAIM you do, you'll allow us to use our FREEDOM to choose our own
paths and live our OWN virtual lives FREE of a big brother breathing down
our virtual necks or having to vote on every little thing. But.... if you
feel the need to be in control.... you should seriously take Imagine's
advice and use AW as a creative tool, NOT a power tool. ;-")

This is for you, community

Sep 10, 2003, 2:54am
I think that's a great thing yer doing Bowen. ;-") Not everyone owns their
own world and have to rely on public worlds to build in.
During the years I"ve been a cit, it's always bothered me that the ONLY huge
round object for large sculptures is the stupid hot air balloon. It would be
great if we had various sizes of spheres to use. It would be nice to NOT
have a cursed hanging basket getting in the way all the time. Rocks/boulders
are nice sometimes but they are very lumpy and pointy and sometimes very
flat on their sides. If I want flat I'll use walls and panels. I see a
renewed surge of creativity in AW especially since 3D axis was enabled.
;-"D We now have a whole new realm of commands available. Imagine the
possibilities with a bunch of different sizes of spheres. Currently, besides
the hot air balloon we also have a couple of huge roof objects, some large
misshapen rocks, and a cloud. We really don't have many spherical or curved
shapes to choose from. It would also be great if we had extra wide columns
and columns WITHOUT the darned square piece at each end getting in the way.
And recently while searching the OY's I noticed there is nothing thinner
than flagpole.rwx to use when you need a skinny pole type object. Flagpole
works ok but its kinda wide for some things like wires or rope...... and
there is the matter of the wide base of it and the ball on the top end. Also
there isn't anything that I've noticed that is smaller than button.rwx.
Would be nice if we had flat round objects available. LOL. (Sorry, on a roll
now ;-"D) And I also noticed we need smaller clear panels or glass
objects. Didn't see much available there cept for pieces that were taller
than my av. And a lot of our current objects don't take color very well cus
they are already textured. For example using goldcurt on an already textured
object looks awful when yer trying to achieve a smooth appearance of gold.
Would be fantastic if we had some plain white or solid colored objects
available. And how about some more varieties of pine trees???? Taller
plants too, like ferns or ornamental grass or ivy??? Ok, ok, I'll stop
now. I could go on and on. LOL. But even a contribution of some actual
(round) spheres would be nice. ;-") (But make em solid color please??)

Technozeus needs our help......!!!!

Oct 22, 2003, 9:41am
True, $750 is a LOT of strain on the ole wallet. I've learned over the years
(was married to an attorney hehehe) that a LOT of that money is for court
fees and additional staff. True, some of it goes towards the attorney. In
light of your situation however, I would consider that price pretty cheap.
Its much more expensive to bail someone out of jail than to hire an attorney
to defend ya. Over the past 4 years, I've had to bail out a brother and lend
money to my parents who bailed out another one. In both cases it was well
over $3000. When I needed an attorney for my divorce it would have been
over $500 just for filing fees and to retain the attorney for a month.
Things in litigation rarely take only a month, since the filing and
paperwork usually take about that long to prepare, mail out and get signed
and returned, etc. The paperwork usually doesn't stop at the attorney's desk
and stay there. It gets mailed or faxed out to different locations. Usually
in the states it's the courthouse, and then goes on to different offices
within the courthouse before it finally gets sent back to the attorney. In
the meantime if there is anything within the paperwork that needs correcting
or changing, it takes even longer because then they have to send it back to
the attorney who then has to contact you and make the necessary corrections
and send it back to the courthouse again, etc etc. Thus, there are usually
more than one person who needs to be payed for their involvement in the
case. (Thank goodness my ex payed for the divorce, since it all took about 5
months and cost over $3000 in the end, not including Notary fees). My point
is.... $750 is a great deal for a defense attorney hon. Dunno if that
includes the price of court costs, but its a far cry from having to pay out
$3000 or more to get yerself bailed out of jail. And yes, Virginia, there
really ARE some attorneys who care. ;-"D

Technozeus needs our help......!!!!

Oct 30, 2003, 6:55pm
Sometimes when we are extremely upset about something we don't catch
everything that is explained to us. I know if I was in his shoes my head
would be spinning. If I remember correctly TZ lives in another state. Dunno
if you noticed gas prices lately, but speaking from experience, when yer
broke, you worry about every cent. And when you are involved in an out of
state dispute and don't have the money for a motel or hotel, and sometimes
it can take several days of hearings and meetings, you have to drive back
and forth many times. You would also need money for food since you would
have no way of cooking if you do stay at a motel or hotel, and if yer
traveling from home, you won't have much chance to go shopping or cook since
you would be on the road most of the time. There are numerous expenses when
traveling a distance for something like this. And if it is in downtown
Chicago, there are also parking expenses for either meters or parking decks.
Sure the attorney is free, but that's it. If someone is only earning
disability, they don't have $20 every day to shell out for gas, food,
parking and/or sleeping arrangements. And lord knows how long something like
this "could" have taken. Like he said, he still needs to go back. Who knows
how long this will drag out. And I don't remember TZ asking for money. He
does however need our support and prayers. So,........... for one of us to
cop an attitude (no pun intended), it won't benefit him in any way. 0_0

Some new AW opportunities

Oct 28, 2003, 9:41pm
Feel like you could possibly get a job working in IS if only you were old
enough or had a degree?? Feel like helping new people learn the ropes
without committing yourself to becoming a GK or PK but not sure how?? Got a
skill relating to AW you would like to share with others??? Need a welcome
break from all the flaming that goes on in the newsgroups??? Got a question
for those more technically skilled than you are in building or bots??? Or,
do you just need some fulfillment in your poor, devoid, and boring life,
knowing that you can help AW newbies learn how to get around and watch as
they take their first babysteps towards "AW-addiction".
If any of this interests you at all, please check out VS Jonno's new website
at
http://vsaw.co.uk and also check out what maki is trying desperately hard
to achieve at http://awnews.org/volunteer . Please keep the flames down to
a minimum. This was only meant to drum up some support for these sites and
possibly recruit some of you puter wizards out there to help the new folks
with some of their questions and to develope some FAQs. Thank you~ ;-")

Pay extra for tourists. Bad idea.

Nov 16, 2003, 6:25am
Yeah and when my cit runs out and I choose to use that money to pay my bills
or feed my family, I will be one of those tourists once again. Although I'm
not quite sure how I will be "freeloading" since I won't be able to build
where I want to and won't have a contact list, grams and can't play in most
games or contests. Mind telling me how I will be "freeloading"?? The only
way I can remain a cit is if I win an extension or if I hit it big when
playing the lottery. You might have that kind of money to throw around but
people like me, don't. So please keep your insults to yourself when
referring to tourists. You were probably one a long time ago and you might
possibly wind up being one again if your luck runs out. 0_0
