Amen, I also have recently checked out worldschat, and I was amazed at the low
quality of graphics, and how laggy the whole darn thign is. Only ONE thing I saw
in it that made me drool. They have working virutal mirrors folx, if those got
added to AW then worlds wouldn't even have that leg to stand on anymore.

Due to certain things that have arrisen in my IRL tonight. This will be
my final post to these NG. I also will be uninstalling my AW.
Due to the uncertainty of the future here, I had suspended the
development of the RPG within my world. This has caused friction with
the person who was my partner in that world. So I said enough is enough,
and turned my portion of that world over to them. I now have very little
in AW to make me want to come back ever.
There will be those who will say good riddance, and others who will miss
me. Well it has been a fun ride, but enough is enough. I cannot take
this level of stress over someone else deciding to be a profiteer. Oh
and the site I worked on for AW stuff is gone. Nevermind it will not
return.

I myself still think it is silly of aw.com to expect the world owners to pay
for the "priv" of showing off the tech of AW to the tourists. Wouldn't it
make more sense for them to make the world owners pay for the right to keep
tourists out without a bot?
Just MHO of course.

Well I know I wouldn't pay for it, but I think it makes more sense than us
paying to advertise for AW. I have a long standing personal policy of never
paying a company to advertise their product. They want me to advertise they
have to pay me or provide me some for of compensation. The current tourist
plan means world owners have to pay to advertise for AW with the tourists.

Methinks your looking at this backwards. Yes AW need money to stay in
business, however, with the current scheme for tourists the world owners
have to PAY to show off the AW tech to the tourists, and without them doign
so the tourists get to see maybe 4 worlds (hardly enough to sell their
product).
Whit what I am saying, the tourists can see ANY world unless that worlds
owner has paid a fee to keep them out. This would give the tourists a much
higher rate of exposure to the product, increasing the likely hood they
would pay to stay after their time was up. It also has the benifit of not
forcing us to pay to be billboards, but allowing us to pay to not be such.
Thereby getting ever more money for AW.
Yes I did go to Marketing school in the way back. Just decided that line of
work ain't for me.

LOL I know more privatly owned worlds that want tourists out than I do ones
that wish them in. And yes they were trying for a comprimise, but the way
they should have gone at first was let worlds pay to block them, then put a
time limit on how long they can be a tourists with a specific email address.
Now I know they can always get another snotmail address to get another
tourist going, but sooner or later they will tire of always gettign new
emails, and either pay or leave.

Your not the only one. I start AW in my world, and when I tried to bounce to
refresh somethign it told me the same thing. Then in Alpha World it acted
fine. But I sitll had to close AW and restart it to get into my own world.
It hasn't done this again since however, so I guess the problem got fixed on
the server end.

Actually, being as the servers which run AW are in the USA, by law that
places all activity within AW inside the USA also. Kinda sad but true. Thats
the reason why the EULA for AW states things about no violation of US law.

And I assume you are willing to pay for the company to move everything to
Russia? Or did you want everyone to suffer yet another price increase? Think
before you post. Moving is expensive, and they would make the community pay
for it.

Propblem kah, you have to either rent or buy the server to migrate it to.
That ain't cheap.

Excuse me? I do nto recall ever saying anythign about your being stupid.
Please stop putting words in my mouth.
But I will say that unless the webservers you go to are in a nation that
does not participate in the Olympics, then you probably will still fall
under the same rules. The USOC has to follow the rules laid out by the IOC.
They don't just make up their own.
It think the majority of the posts to this thread lately are right. If your
gonna hold em, rename them and get a new logo. Then there is no problems.
Either that or try to sneak it past and hope for the best.

I agree zeo. My world Barsoom (and my current account along wth it) comes up
for renewal in a few months, unless AW is a barren wasteland we will be not
only renewing but upgrading yet again. If you love AW, then you have to try
and help them stay afloat or lose them forever.

Not as such no, but it could have an effect on future policies. Such as if
they were moving to Mesa Arizona where they have some of the most restricive
laws I have even heard of.
