really wierd dumb question

Aug 27, 2002, 7:29pm
Combustion doesn't set off a nuclear reaction :

Theoretically crashing a plane into it wouldn't do anything, you'd have to have a lot
of people inside the plant working at it for a while and getting to know how that
specific plant works. Then be able to shut down the dueterium supply, coolant
system, and pulling out the carbon rods, then removing the concrete and lead walls.
Then the core meltdown might be uber dangerous... but that format is only the most
primitive set up of a nuclear reactor.

> why do u keep using the german word for "over"?

Uber is a common word in English dialect where I live. Usually "over" is the hard
definition, it is usually interpreted as extra or super.

Question: Walking Speed

Aug 30, 2002, 10:40pm
Well considering everything in AW is way off scale the 5 m/s rule doesn't apply, I
walk just about as fast as the AV does.

> ummm....why did AW reverse the compass? Like 90 for west instead of east?
> This is really confusing when you're used to the real one.

It's called a circle Jeeves. Wherever they want to start North is really only their
concern. If you want to use their software you should learn their system. Not that
I don't agree with you, 90 should be north not east by the way. If 0 were to equal
north (following the standards of measuring a circle) west would be 90.

Not always available. A person might not know someone elses e-mail and/or the person
they are trying to reach blocks all incoming telegram. In which case, this would be
the next best place.

Mmm, don't you have to make a close assumption as to how you could build a FTL
engine? That would be quantum physics. That person would then pass it on to the
quantum mechanic. Therefore since we don't have any way to know how to travel that
fast, we can't build an engine to do that yet?

Perfection does not exist?

You can tell it was made by a modeler. Look at the freckle texture above the eyes,
it's stretched which assumes they messed up a little on the UVing (or whatever it's
called on Maya).

After closer examination of the movies, you can tell even more so that it's a
computer animated model. Watch how she moves, it's a very unnatural movement for
someone, especially the eyes. The hair on the eyebrows also gives it away. :)

I'm going to have to disagree, the amount is starting to get rediculous. Sure it's
sad those people died over something so stupid, but we don't need 50 trillion
Internet memorials.

Respect is an entirely different matter. Go add to someone elses memorial if you
wish to pay respect. There's no need for every zit faced 13 year old to make a
webpage with geocities and/or making a bot cover 500 coords in AW to build a damn
memorial. There are already plenty of them. Even some that are AW sponsered.

Last I checked Gore won the populus vote. Bush won the electoral votes. Therefore,
Bush became president even though Gore actually got more votes.

No one wants war, they just want to insure they don't get attacked while they're
vunerable. There's other reasons for wars besides that. One of them would be to
gain independence, a revolution. I'm sure there's other valid reasons to go to war,
but that's the only one that comes to mind at the moment.

Are you trying to incur my sympathy for what goes on in some of these bass ackward
countries? Or are you trying to get my sympath for starting the war? But then you
need to realize 99.9% of Americans don't feel the need to fight Iraq.

Personally, if they wanted to avoid a war, they shouldn't have built the weapons in
the first place. It makes them no better than those that stop them from doing it.

--Bowen--

Taking bets..

Sep 11, 2002, 4:24pm
> who is the USA to say they cant have those weapons

The UN says so. No nuclear weapons with the intent to use against others unless
agreed upon by the majority of the nations in the UN. Anyone who does without
approval is dealt with swiftly I've heard.

--Bowen--

Taking bets..

Sep 11, 2002, 5:21pm
> bullshit

I believe this was the Nuclear Armement Treaty? Most, if not all, of the UN nations
with nuclear weapons signed it. The UN is also what's going to determine who has the
right and the jursidiction to use them (which I would say would be almost never). If
they see anyone using them in a war (like with Pakistan and India) I'd assume they'd
stop them after the first or second bomb went off.

Exactly. That's why we don't mind *most* countries that have nuclear weapons. Even
though there's no reason to have them. But hey, you never know when aliens are going
to come and try to take us over.

--Bowen--

Well, the radioactive material is only present after the explosion, which I doubt
they could resist without some sort of flying lead barrier. Radiation can pass
through electrons so a "shield" won't work. :P
