I agree. People do spend too much time in their schedules. And a lot of
the time their jobs hold them to it.

Goober explained it in a post in this thread dated earlier. AWNews.com was
taken away, so AWnews.net was registered. But Goob still hasn't slapped up
a website yet. Seems to me he doesn't want to do any of the work. ;P
Really Goober, if you're tired of it, just give it to someone else, like
Facter. I know you think it's your baby, but it's got to grow up sometime.

The problem with your theory TZ is that people are going to swallow what
they're sold, because they haven't experienced anything otherwise. In other
words, LindenLabs is using words that describe their product to a T, but
these words are buzzwords that make it look streamlined and cool. They have
the same meaning as the oldschool words. Streaming data vs data that
downloads as needed.
It's the same thing, but it sounds better. So their customers will get what
they were promised. Anything less is false advertising, which is illegal,
obviously, and is profit suicide. So they're not going to do that! :)
Summarily, they're using buzzwords that make their product look good, and
possibly better than AW.

companies that choose to hype themselves up face the consequences when
people see how what they really get compares with what they thought they
were getting. Back when people who thought AW would be free forever found
out that what they were really getting wasn't what they expected, those of
us who whitnessed the event got a good look at how people react to such a
let down.... it wasn't pretty.

Lay off of johnny guys. It does sound sarcastic, even though it really
isn't.

Johnnyb made a mistake. That much is said and done. What else does
everyone want? Politely correct him, and if he still clings to his
assumption, fine. More power to him! You can't _make_ him change, so just
let him have is own opinions, especially since the fricken thing you're all
argueing about doesn't even matter.
Peace out..

Several debates over the past few months have been of similar nature, but I
want to touch on this little topic of vigilante justice within these
newsgroups. This is an extension of a private conversation that I've had
with one individual.
Now, when I say vigilante justice, I define this in this way. Quote: "
everytime someone posts an opinion worthless, or a bash, they should be
rammed with posts telling them to stop rather the defended, then they may
stop"
I do not support this type of moderation. And here's why.
1.) Moderators, namely Enzo, are here for a purpose. It is not up to us to
do their job now that they are active and currently watch this newsgroup
daily.
2.) Let's establish that what people post here are opinions. Having said
that, this type of tactic, which has been used liberally in the past, is
exactly why people do not post here out of fear of being attacked
themselves. It is very hard to tell who will take offense to said posted
opinion.
3.) It's contradictory. Case in point. One person posts a comment that
sounds like it is veiled in sarcasm. Someone decides to berate that person
for that comment. Unfortunately, that someone is wrong in their assessment.
Therefore they themselves are berated. These are two conflicting examples
of vigilante justice used in one encounter! Sound familiar? Ramming people
with posts is entirely subjective. Who is to decide who is in the wrong?
They themselves may be wrong.
I dare you to argue with me on this.

Yes, Technozeus you're right. The definition was not mine, but for their
sake I won't disclose the source. But basically it is as you read it.
Flame, bombard, and bash them out of the newsgroups. There are people on
this newsgroup who feel, or hopefully at least "felt", that way.

argue with you about because that would mean I agree with you.
>
> Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks to me like you're basically saying
that if there is a case of bashing or flaming or any other unacceptable
behavior that a person feels is bad enough to deserve being dealt with, they
should either deal with it as politely as possible or let the moderator deal
with it. I also feel that's the best way to handle such cases, or anything
that we may "see as" such a case.

Who looks at headers? the URL blended in perfectly with it, especially
since it was highlighted blue and underlined. It was one line above your
e-mail address, which was also highlighted and underlined. In this case I
agree with eep. Put a line in between the last line of your message and the
header. :P
