Yes, I myself would much rather pay $10US per month for MMORPG's over simple
chat/building programs...

Because I can chat, voice chat, webcam for FREE in yahoo and others.
www.yahoo.com
I can chat, set up bots, file servers, anything for FREE on IRC.
www.mirc.com
I can chat, I can build 3d worlds and terrains for FREE with Adobe
Atmosphere.
www.adobe.com
Anything else?
In an MMORPG, I can choose to be the villain and get out weapons and shoot
everyone in my site, or I can be a part of the community inside it, a
beaurocrat even. I can chat as normal, in character or even out, depending
the circumstance and the place I am in at the time, I can walk around in
fully made 3d environments WITH terrains, and explore limitless areas. Why
would I need to build when I can explore a finished "WORLD" with so much to
do?
MMORPG are not just online games, not just games you buy off a box like
Quake II you decide to play multiplayer, much much different.

As I have mentioned before, I would much rather pay $10 a month US for
MMORPG's than to chat/build.

Not really, AW 3.3 as the last version (or at-least until they figure out a
way around dit) isn't so bad after all. We get to keep out home, and they
keep charging $20US per year for cit renewals and don't need to hire more
staff, it's not so bad as it actually sounds. As well as maybe even lower
world prices to what they "use" to be would generate more worlds as people
can AFFORD them. Also, take out the 3d homepages and you solve another
problem. Free cits are not so much of an issue, as long as they make those
people enter a credit card number, stops people getting more than 1 free cit
from different locations, unless they have even more cards.
Maybe after figuring out the problem, they can start working on a NEW
version of AW. They never upgraded so fast in the past, but now make new
versions like nothing.
I don't care much for the technology, I care for the community side and
being able to come in here, chat, and build.

Exactly. 3.3 Stays Brant, go back to AWTeen. What difference is it going to
make? Make LEGO world be able to move objects on a different axis aint gonna
do jack.
It IS an option over loosing 80% of the citizens in one go. At-least until
they have thought it over and KNOW a way to advance. Why spend money if they
don't have enough?

Tell us, how much do you pay for your cit? I could bet you get the free

I have a 64meg GeForce Video card and still it is low in its frame rates in
some areas when I could be playing something like Quake III, or even Soldier
of Fortune, with the best of graphics and run at over 80FPS.
Walk into AWGate out 5 metres, then face Ground Zero and you're faces with a
very low frame rate. Don't say it's the avatars because in Quake III for
example, you could be facing 20 or more enemies all in the one spot without
a single loss of frame rate.
Ah well

Did you not read the F.A.Q? In Feb 2003 they are already going to be
charging us $10 per month, they accidentally spilt that information I'm
guessing.
That's why you renew your cit NOW, before the end of January so you don't
have to pay the $10 per month until next year.
This month is the last month they are allowing us to renew for $20 per year.

Tell me, with AW's already extremely slow service and reply to e-mails, how
can one cancel their trial citizenship fast with AW?
AW will probably take over a week to reply and to cancel your account which
would leave you with paying for a month automatically.
Will they be providing a form on the ActiveWorlds.com website to cancel your
citizenship? Will they require you to call them, even if you live overseas
and it would cost you a heck of a lot of money. Or will they require you to
enter your details once again in e-mail without them even being able to
provide you with their DIGITAL SIGNATURE for mail encryption?
Leaves me to think...
