ActiveX in MMF

Jul 3, 2001, 1:58am
Multimedia Fusion is the program I use for making programs. I imported the
AW SDK's ActiveX control, and in "Part #7" and above (SetAwCitizenName and
below), there are errors, such as actions turning into events... like rc.
I'm not sure if anyone can help me with this, but I would like it if they
could. Thanks

Oh yeah, you can download a demo of Multimedia Fusion at

ActiveX in MMF

Jul 3, 2001, 5:51pm
That's why I put ( )'s ... it's something MMF uses for advanced ActiveX
controls. I meant all of the commands below SetAwCitizenName and itself have
errors. I think it has to do with MMF itself. Sorry to bother anyone

ActiveX in MMF

Jul 7, 2001, 12:46am
If functions like an extension; It has normal functions like movement and
visibility, and then it has "custom actions" and "custom verbs". The "custom
actions" are the ones that usually require input, like SetAwLoginName
"Felix2001". The custom actions pops up another selection with parts, like
Part #1, Part#2, etc. Each part has about 10 functions to choose from.
Around about the 7th part, errors occur, such as mistaking what you chose
for "Start animation" or "Set alterable value". Sometimes they even crash
Multimedia Fusion. The AwSdkOcx3 is available from the ActiveX object
included in MMF.

No offense...

Feb 14, 2001, 3:37am
I'm sorry, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't it sound a bit like people
here are talking in code? Listen, I know lots of people like to say the
extra words "like" or "say" in real life, but it's kind of confusing me.
Sorry. You can keep doing that if you want, I was just wondering if maybe we
could try to make a little bit more since for stupid people like me?

I DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP!

Well j b e l l i think what you were doing was illegal. Maybe you should
host for free? ;)

I just hope so... I'm not a world builder so I don't know if that isn't even
already available or not. Just replying so you'd know people come here often
;o)

Multisound Support

Jan 28, 2001, 12:19am
When I was using Active Worlds, I noticed that it makes sound distance using
the wave volume and balance. I think this is pretty old, and even most old
games don't use this system. Is there some way this can be fixed? That's
what I wish for.

Roland!? THIS IS A WISHLIST, just so you know. Enhancements can be placed
here, but so can wishes. Please, it was nice the way you said it so politely
but, we can post wishes here as well ;o)

Sliding (bump slip)

Jan 30, 2001, 1:03am
I think a function such as 'bump slip X', or 'create slip X', X being the
amount of slipperiness on the object, would be a great function for lots of
builders. 'bump warp' is just not the same. Also, instead of just slipping,
there could be a 'steep X' function with X being how steep, not so you'll
slip if it's too steep, you just can't go up.

Built-in land surveyer and builder

Jan 30, 2001, 1:12am
3.1 should have a built-in land surveyor so that you can save land without
bots (which aren't allowed in many worlds anyway.) The surveyer could give
you different views of the land, and you could also get a 2D view where you
drag the cursor and select all the land in a cell. Then you can save it and
build it again. I know this is possible, because once I was building and
ActiveWorlds messed up and moved a lot of my land up 30 meters for no
reason. (of course, I wasn't a tourist either.)

enhancements... lol

Jan 30, 2001, 1:13am
I meant BUGS can be placed here, so can wishes. Sorry ;o)

Streaming media

Jan 30, 2001, 1:15am
I know that the new AW won't have streaming media like MP3's or WAV's, but
why not? I think it would be great if you could choose streaming or not
though in line commands, like "create stream
http://something.something.something"

Land Saver

Jan 30, 2001, 10:17pm
maybe instead, in like 3.2, as you build, it can monitor what you build and
save it to a special file that can be loaded.

Land Saver

Jan 31, 2001, 1:34am
Yeah good idea, but with the way this 3.1 is coming along, I think by the
time they come out with this function, we all will have lost interest in
ActiveWorlds from they years of wait for the new version, which forever
remained a closed beta.

Well, duh - Thanks sw comit

Jan 31, 2001, 1:32am
Xelagot??? Pardon my language hehe, but DUH! You can't just let a Xelagot in
any world! Some people enjoy the wonderful water world of Atlantis and may
want to back up their land just in case. I HAVE Xelagot, but it's not
useable in Atlantis. Now, if anyone can tell me a way to hack into Xelagot
and make it act like a citizen, THEN I'll do that.

Well, duh - Thanks sw comit

Jan 31, 2001, 9:40pm
Oh ok I didn't think anyone read the replies ;) uh - My email doesn't work
with Outlook Express - SMTP is stopped from being used because I'm using
Juno and it takes forever to send mail. Sometimes it is quick though. Thanks
for the feedback ;o)

Shadows

Jan 31, 2001, 9:43pm
Yeah, good idea. I was thinking about that too :) . But I'm starting to not
care about new functions like that. They'll be disregarded forever. But
anyway, that WAS a GREAT idea - just don't count on it EVER getting
implemented (don't ask me to buy a dictionary, because I won't)

Shadows

Feb 3, 2001, 3:47pm
Well, maybe there should be all of these options under settings or
something. That couldn't hurt! :) . Also, I think they should implement
voice chat in like 4.5 or something where you can talk and your avatar's
mouth moves to the volume of your voice and there's distance and things like
in OnLive Traveler www.onlive.com .

Speed Limit!!!

Feb 3, 2001, 3:45pm
I think that they should just have a speed thing on the status bar that says
how fast you're going - and maybe there should be a special AW add on that
asks you for a place and calculates how long it will take you to get there!
[View Quote]

.avi or some video support..

Feb 16, 2001, 5:17am
EXACTLY !!! That's just what I was thinking. Funny though, when I tried
Active Worlds after not trying it for a while (because I was using other 3D
chats), I thought it DID have video support! I guess this was because
Microsot V Chat is similar and I think it supported video.

Sent Telegrams....

Apr 23, 2001, 8:37pm
I agree. Sometimes I'll send a telegram like "I think this or that is
stupid", and then they'll say "I think so too" and I'll send back "huh?".
Sometimes it takes long for people to reply and you forget what you said

Being able to give someone CT with limited....

Apr 23, 2001, 8:45pm
"Nice idea, but people are able to get by with privelege passwords," AW
Creators would probably say. I think we should start a boycott of AW until
they come up with new features that attract more users, like shadows, making
a certain area that you built restricted to flying or going through walls
like, "create thru off" or something, I don't know. AW is just getting kind
of old.. the light and move, rotate, and examine were great updates, but
compared to the updating some other companies are probably doing it's
nothing. Anyway, my point is, we need more features. I can't put it any
plainer

a way to hold more then 100 contacts :-)

Apr 8, 2001, 5:11am
Hmmm, I see what you're getting at. When a text file gets too big, notepad
tells you and chooses to use WordPad instead, but Active Worlds does not use
the same technology as notepad to open text files - that's just notepad's
limit for some idiotic reason. Also, I don't know if 100 lines is even
notepad's limit, so.... lol Good Idea though, but .doc or .dat files would
not hold any more for any reason. As I say, a text file can be as big as a
drive can hold, I believe, although you may not be able to open it ;)

Sound Volume Regulation

Apr 8, 2001, 5:08am
For all of you people who didn't already know this and wanted to be able to
regulate volume for sounds with commands like bump or activate, here's what
you do: name an object - for this test, the name you chose will be 'listen'.
Type the sound command as normal on the object you want to make the sound
when clicked or bumped (bump sound [url of sound] - or the same but with
activate instead of bump), but add name=listen after it. If you chose bump,
you should have 'bump sound [url of sound] name=listen'. According to how
far away the 'listen' object is, the volume will be louder or softer. If you
want to use the same object but you want the sound to be quiter or louder,
you could also have a 'move' event included, like "bump move 30 0 0
time=.001 wait=9999999999 name=listen". The long wait and makes sure the
object doesn't move back for a very long time and will sound that quiet or
loud until further move commands are registered for the object. You may want
to make the listen object be unsolid and invisible according to your needs.
Using this information, you should be able to take advantage of your sound
options even further. Good luck!

P.S. Please don't reply saying things like, "How stupid do you think we
are?" because I was only trying to help. ;) Sorry to those of you who wasted
their time looking at this.

haven't you? Same basic concept
