WISH - Universe Teleporting Abilities

Aug 25, 2003, 2:51am
By sending a universe name in the universe attributes, which would be from
one stored in its license file. :P But, other then that, this whole idea is
insane... 90% of the browser would be needed to be reprogrammed for support
of this... Probably the easiest way for this would be to have a simple login
to the uniserver, get the world host and port, connect to the world, and
then dump the connection to the universe, as it is unneeded. This does,
however limit teleportation within that universe once you've entered a
world. There really isn't any nice and clean way of doing this besides
reprogramming major sections of the browser.

Aug 25, 2003, 6:19pm

* Better environment... Day to night effects, etc, etc
* Seven physics engines

* Filters
* Shadows
* Cloud shadows
* Voice chat
* AI
* Explosions
* My cat...

Raytracing is super-high-quality-majig rendering that renders at 30 seconds
a frame for a basic scene on my computer... That's... .0084FPS or something
;)

[View Quote] You could just.... log off AW...

What about ninjas?

>
> 3) A cache or some way to signify you are a world owner (or staff) so you

So, you'd have stale (sometimes unfixed) content, and normal users get it
fresh, and working (or unworking as the case may be)?

This would just be an ammendment to the whole "Oh my god! I just played
marrowind, and I think AW should be just like it!!!! at !"...

Only refreshing the cache from things that have been added or change would
require a lot of the cache system to be rewritten...

Uh, if they would have taught sarcasm detection 101 in school, you would
have failed. My post was not sarcastic in the least. Also, I think the
programmers have better things to do then rewrite a section of the browser
that doesn't need fixing.

Restict Messages

That sounds... like the most *secure* thing ever!

Hey, look what I found in msg_hndlr.c for build 511!

void handle_console_message(void);

aw_event_set(AW_EVENT_CONSOLE_MESSAGE, handle_console_message);

void handle_console_message(void)
{
if(stristr("strike rapier", aw_string(AW_MY_NAME))){
//Good god! Lets save strike from himself!!!
aw_string_set(AW_CONSOLE_MESSAGE, "Nooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!");
}

display_c_message(aw_int(AW_CONSOLE_RED), aw_int(AW_CONSOLE_BLUE),
aw_int(AW_CONSOLE_GREEN), aw_string(AW_CONSOLE_MESSAGE));
}

.... How could it always see this "enterprise"? Was there some sort of
vlahurg magic? Perhaps a voodoo spell? Or did the cast of the... er, I
mean "crew" ;) of this "enterprise" just not notice a rather large object
following them acting as the other gate?

You just decapilolized things and make it horrible British. That's not a
correction. Go back to grammar school. But, on the other hand, the ways
you try to get back at me for shooting down your ideas, or proving how
they're all created by the overactive imagination of a 13-year-old. All you
do is use shrewd little ways, like saying "Yeah... so?!" or correcting my
punctuation, or perhaps even threatening me with violence. Wow... Real
mature there john.

A new object is added, if the RC is 0, then it deletes the original (old)
object. This is all fine and dandy until you run out of cell space.

What happens if something happens after the object is deleted? The object
would be gone forever. That's why the current system is in place, and I
think its just fine. Stop trying to add a jillion objects into one cell.
