Lotta people are saying that. That doesn't apply to everyone. Here's my side of the story: In a few weeks SW City will be 6 years old. Yup, I and some friends founded our city 6 years ago. Since that day, we've been an active and developing community in AW. Our territory in AW makes up 2000 by 3000 coordinates, comprising of god only knows how many buildings and projects, and about 10 million objects and rougly 250 builders. Do you expect the SWC community to just pack it up and move to to another world? Even if wanted to, that's impossible. There's no affordable world big enough to transplant the city. We're a building-based community of AW, and as such, one of our top priorities is the betterment of our projects and the environment it sits in. And obviously, you can only do so much when you don't have any control of the world you build in. Alphaworld is our homeworld, and we'd like to be proud of it, not loath it. A GZ should be a world's proudest features. Instead, we're stuck with aging ruins :( - SW Comit www.swcity.net AW sunFeb 24, 2005, 9:29pm

Please don't leave Alphaworld alone. Improving it would make logical sense
O_o Lil' off topic though. Sorry you quit the GKs John. I'm guilty of talking out against the GKs, oblivious to all the great GKs out there. Lady Teal made me realize that some time ago. My apologies for posts in the past. I wouldn't worry about the payment issue too much. I mean come on all companies have miscommunications like that every now and then. I'm sure you'll get it worked out soon. - SW Comit www.swcity.net [View Quote] Complains lolMar 9, 2005, 9:14pm
Dare I ask you people what the good reason is behind making Alphaworld

About the same question was asked in "Reasons why Alphaworld GZ never changes?". My reply: ====== Lotta people are saying that. That doesn't apply to everyone. But we would need AWI to do that so the citnames and dates could remain in-tact, and I have my doubts they'll be willing to do that. It's also quite expensive to set up a world that large. If I understand correctly, Alphaworld has its own server, which are pretty expensive. Ferru and Taun's Hard Work CopiedMar 10, 2005, 9:50pm

Ahhhh at ctrl+enter sending the message prematuraly. Been using that to make
new lines all night in another program :P Anyway, not anymore. Texture controlling obejects (objects that texture whole builds) = source of heavy lag. We just added some delay on the ones that didn't have a delay, and modified the rest. Can run through there now at 150+ vis. Just hope people sign up. Been sprucing up this area big time :O Last time we tried Industrial, nobody signed up, opting for the residential contest instead (since we had two). More people should try industrial. It's so much fun once you get into it >_< - SW Comit [View Quote] SW City 6th Birthday BashMar 16, 2005, 3:21am

Speaking of AWGZ guidelines, what is its rating anyway? I mean, Alphaworld
use to be PG13; I clearly remember seeing that in the world settings for years...then I look one day and I see its been changed to PG. And then people go on to say the GZ is rated G. Well, what is it? >_< In my personal opinion, AWGZ should be pretty lax. If you want censorship go to AWGate and you'll get more than enough :P - SW Comit 6th Annual Building Contest Kicks OffMar 21, 2005, 12:54am
Today is the 20th, which means the birthday bash's building contest starts.
This year's theme is industrial. The staff has been putting a lot of work into Hyokia Industrial Center, sprucing it up for a public showing. Players will get a plot right on the west side of it. Players get up to 30 cells of land, and chose the shape of their plot (typically either square, long, or L shaped). April 1st, 7PM VRT is the latest you can enter It closes on April 2nd, 10:15PM VRT Few people have built industry in AW before, and we encourage them to step into this creative and fun style of building. Plenty of examples of industry can be found around the area to help you get some ideas. Teleport to AW 254S 3816.6E 150 go to the contest grounds. http://pics.swcity.net/hyokia_pict1.jpg for a screenshot of the area. 6th Annual Building Contest Kicks OffMar 21, 2005, 3:16am

Alphaworld servers lately....Mar 22, 2005, 10:03pm
For about the past 2 weeks, the Alphaworld servers for me have been
soooooooooo sloooowwww. Last night I was scanning a 40x40 coord area of town with a xelagot and it took literally 40 minutes. The rest of the time, the world caches data ridiculously slow...I have to just go afk and come back later. And the most annoying is building. Having the past 2 minutes of work suddenly pop and then get a "waiting for server" error...ugh. It's impossible to do a cell select and delete it. I bounce, and everything deleted is there again. My friends notice the same thing. It seems to happen off and on. About half the time its been like this for me. What's going on? >_< Alphaworld servers lately....Mar 24, 2005, 8:14pm
Yea the delete issue is the worst...tried to delete a building. Took it out
7 times, and only managed to delete 2 cells :P I have to have someone else delete it. The problem seems to be per-user. Other worlds work great though, like AWTeen. And no problem with other internet programs either. [View Quote] Alphaworld servers lately....Mar 28, 2005, 4:06am
Uuuuuuuugggghhh getting worse before it gets better. Just finished building
a whole building exterior...bounce, and its all gone. How annoying is that -_- [View Quote] Alphaworld servers lately....Mar 28, 2005, 4:23am
There it is...weird. I was able to create, edit and delete objects in the
server, but I wasn't able to see them. I restarted AW and there everything was, though, a bit of a mess after trying to recover it from before :P [View Quote] Alphaworld servers lately....Mar 29, 2005, 4:05am
I been spending a lot of time on AW lately (preparing for the bash and what
not). Litterally about half the time its ok, and the other its barely useable. I emailed AWI about it on the 22nd...no reply *sigh* >_< [View Quote] |
